  1. can someone tell me who prints the prigrams for the TSSAA State Basketball tournament and how I may get in touch with them thanks
  2. I think Elizabethton, South and Greenville have great chance of playing Next weekend... Eliz. opp. Aloca, if you look at their schedule, half the teams they beat had losing records, Maryville had several players out in week one, so I think especially playing at home the Cyclones will be a 8 point favorite. Greenville has been the real surprise, and the Cyclones had their way with Greenville. The devils have played better in the play-offs than they did in the season but thats the way it suppose to be. South will have the toughest games, one loss came to Kingsport, but thats when they lost one of the players. All of East Tennessee will be in Nashville, (Murfreesboro) the first week of Decenber Eliz. 24, Aloca 16 South 20, Columbia 19 Greenville 32 Whites Creek 19
  3. (Borrowing Deke's Computer) Kim Richardson We were expecting to be hearing the results of the Cloudland game very soon, but we were just informed that the Lady Highlanders game, previously scheduled for 10:00 this morning, has been cancelled, or at least moved to a late-afternoon starting time. I'm sure The Highlander will keep us posted. Unaka's first game is scheduled for 1:00 this afternoon. (I think) Rockwood is the opponent. lf all goes according to plan, we will be there for tomorrow morning's 10:00 game. Keep us posted.
  4. I'm on C.Y.s computer, The one who covers the games on the internet and is a referee. His dad died at around 5pm today. Remember his family in your prayers
  5. In Elizabethton, Seventh Grade Boys and Girls Seventh Grade Christmas Tournament Dec 26-31. For more info email peters5@charter.net or call 423-542-2113
  6. see what I mean,,, Always an ahole around
  7. I'm not on here much anymore, one reason is this site has become more of a bash board than anything. I work with a lot of the kids in this county and they believe in what a lot people are saying... Bashing kids 14-17 who have no ideal what lies ahead in the next few years.. Grown men and Women who have graduated from high school bashing schools and kids who believe in what you type.. They read your quotes and for some believe they have no chance of winning because no one believes in them. The best comeback game I have ever seen was at cloudland week before last. 35-21 with 28 seconds left to play. Grace trails and with .09 seconds left they have tied the score and have the ball with a chance to win. Unbelievable.. When I was leaving the biggest question I heard from many people was how did Unaka hold this team to six points... Also the game was at grace. The most of you including Carter County people are picking Onieda to win. My son plays at Unaka and has friends and former teammates on all four other Carter county teams and each week looks form them to win.. He and I pull for all our local teams to win, and every Sat. we pull for the Big Orange... No matter who they play.. Can Unaka beat Onieda, well if they score a two point conversion they beat Cloudland, and cosby. They have one of the best defenseive teams I have seen. The Big O played hampton a good game but also did Unicoi and I believe they only one two games this season. If they kick an extra point they beat hampton..Who would have thought. I believe Unaka, Cloudland and Hampton will win and if grace completes some passes they have a great chance of beating Midway... I think Grace has the best chance except Hampton of beating Midway.. Hampton 46 Coalfield 7 Cloudland 30 Harriman 14 Unaka 22 Onieda 21 Grace 32 Midway 30 If they don't complete their passes and stay with that they will get hammered. They score 16 points in .20 seconds by passing the football but went into overtime and ran four plays on the ground. From there Jordan Hughes took over Midway 45 Grace 14
  8. Services will be held Thrusday night at 8 with burial to be held Friday at 3. Memeriol is in charge of services.
  9. East Tennessee has lost a great athlete, I have lost a son, my son has lost a brother. Cody Marley was killed in an auto accident Saturday night. Cody played baseball and football for me from the time he was nine years old. He hated to lose, he would not accept it. He was a true winner. He pitched many wins and made several trips to the World Series at 12, 14 and 16. He pitched the win in the Dizzy Dean State Tournament Championship game and led his team to the World Series in Mississippi. He was one of my sons best friends. He spent many nights at my house and we traveled many cities to play in tournaments. He recently moved to Bristol so he could play baseball for one of the areas top coaches. He played at Elizabethton last year for Coach Payne and he grew to love him and his style of coaching. He loved baseball. We will miss him deeply.
  10. bad blow on Stoney Creek last night. Word recieved that one of the starting linebackers will miss the season because of a injury during a scrimage. A shoulder injury that will require surgery this week. He is just a jurior and will be back for next season, but a huge blow for the 2007 season.
  11. Marty Street will be announced Monday as the basketball coach. Ogg from HV will join Witten as football assistant, as for baseball a man from out west has applied, and I'm also hearing Bill McKinney from Science Hill. He has already resigned there.
  12. Three weeks now and no-one has applied for the baseball position. Shawn Witten accepted the head football coach and announcement will be made on Monday June 25
  13. Strong sources coming from brother Jasons football camp Saturday announces Shawn Witten has accepted the coaching job at Elizabethton High. Press releases are scheduled for Monday June 25
  14. What happened at the board meeting? It look more like a funeral, than a school board meeting. Players and teachers dressed in black, The ships Captain was going down with the ship and one of the most outstanding baseball fans and friend to many called Mr. Ed a Liar. "If you will lie to a friend, you will steal from him" That was strong. I though Mrs. Parlier speech was as good as any I had ever heard. I didn't understand it but I thought it was great. She should run for President. Took a few pictures, some kids received some awards, but mostly outside after the meeting people were still furious.
  15. Look for Jeff Pierce to be the new Betsy Football coach. If shawn turns down the job, a good choice by Pless, also Wilson contacted Bernie Young for the baseball job, but Greenville has already offered him the world. Bernie likes being close to home and he already told me a couple of years ago, he wanted the Cyclone job. His first year at Science Hill he won the state title.
  16. Football Coach - Jeff Pierce Basketball Coach - Keith Turner Baseball Coach - Bernie Young Three Great Men, Three Great Coaches. Furture looks great
  17. good answer look in your local papers in the next couple of days, Sources say Gil Payne is the next Viking coach
  18. Its official, well at least the Eddie Pless era. Pless just took over the Principal's job at Elizabethton High school today.. Word is Witten will be the new football coach. It's his if he wants it.
  19. WHO'S DOWN???? I think Unaka played great when they had to, and made it to the furthest they could. Did Hampton, No, Did Cloudland No, Did Happy Valley No, Did Elizabethton No, Did Erwin No, my point is they are the only team that finished where they should in the Big Show. All the teams I mention should have made it further, even Betsy, they had the chance to win, the team they played was very good but so was Elizabethton. If they break the game opening late instead of Gibbs then they are in Murf. So as far as being down, I'm not and special thanks to coach Ensor for getting all the Players possible in the game at the State Tournament. Hope to be back next year.
  20. So What are you trying to say??? That I'm trying to find the best players and coaches in the area for my son to play with???So that he can play in the big games and be seen by college coaches and maybe get a schloraship and save me thousands of dollars??? Dam your right.. You have figured me out, It worked with Alice who just graduated from Lee's McRae, It worked with Charles who just finished his first year at the Uiversity of Tennessee, so maybe it might work with Jeff. In baseball Unaka is the place to be, Five State Appearence, 10 or more District and Regional Titles, at least Five Sub-State Titles in the last five years, where else would you want to be in baseball. As for Ranger 87 I sent pictures of Andrew, Adam, Drew, and Justin to the stars sports office on the final game. I sent Andrew pitching and the home run trot at home plate with the players waiting on him.. I don;t work there and receive no money for any thing I do for them. I send them pictures and they use what they want. As for the picture of Jeff in game one, thats what they ask for and I sent it along with pictures of Carpenter pitching. I even suggested running all three pitchers picture in the last game, but you see how much pull I got there. And in no way should you blast Tim, I have been associated with the Star since 1973 and for County coverage, its the best its EVER been. We also were at the Track, Tennis and softball fields during the mornings. I sent pictures of Jonathan Lyons, never saw any of those in the paper either. And I'm sure your find many mistakes in my spelling and grammer cause i didn;t play well enough to get a schlorship, so what i learned in High School is all I know. But as far as my Children I've done my best that I can and their accomplishments should speak for itself.
  21. Thanks Towel boy would like to add 16-18 year old league signs ups are this wednesday at 7.30pm for players who want to play summer baseball. Last season we played 54 games, 19 in 15 days won the League, State and went on to play in the World Series. I have brought great coaches like Jeff Reed, Bernie Young, Mike Hardin who is one of the best pitching coaches in our area who has donated their time to help kids learn the game. Hope to have another successful season, League play begins this Saturday. All Players are welcome; Go Rangers Beat Friendship.
  22. Yes and NO I agree greatly, but what is the problem... It starts in day one of practice. Players talking back to coaches shows no respect for the coach. Would Dale Colbaugh or Perry Rambo raised their voice to Claude Holtsclaw NOOOPPEE. Holtsclaw not only would have threw them from the team but probably would have taken his belt off and wore them out, the CW (Perrys Dad) would have finished the chore when Perry got home. RESPECT not only to the coach but to the game. You MUST want to play the game, love the game and be a part of the team. You must adjust to the pitching, the umpiring the weather conditions, etc etc... Was Carpenter left to long ...well maybe... but with players making errors in routine plays, throwing the ball over the field like the Bad News Bears, you cannot blame that on the pitcher.. But a pitcher gets dishearted when his teammates cannot back him up and this has happen all year for Carp. If I would have been Carp, I would have left the field on my own, Na as a Senior, I would probably kicked some of my own players tails. Unaka is where they should be in the State Tournament, but is that what you are satisfied with??? To win games at this level it will take many many hours of practicing and players working on their own not just the couple of hours a day the coaches practice the team.... You must know the Game.. get books, read about the game.. Know the Rules,, UH didn't on third strike and it cost them (Something you should learn in Little League).. and Know what to do with the ball when it comes to you... Like the Boy Scouts Motto Be Prepared, and for Tuesday May 22, 2007 , Unaka was not prepared. My Blood runs Deep maroon, and the Rangers are loaded with Talent.. Like Arnold S. They'll be Back, but next time lets hope they are better prepared.
  23. great job Rangers Have fun in Murfreesboro, Limo Leaves at 10am Monday, Reserve your seat today
