If Happy Valley is so good and better than the Rangers, they lost to eliz. while being ranked second in the state... and then three games in a row...as a matter of fact they didn't even score... 23-0 and for Hampton, who I thought would have a great team this year, well they lost to Unicoi, who had only won 1 game.. So comparing schedules doesn't work. and besides HV has three times the students unaka has. They (Unaka) already have over 50 players out and numbers will win ballgames, They have 38 Jr. High players and Unaka High has five seniors, so they should be in the high sixties or even seventies next year in players... You must crawl before you can walk, and Unaka will play Hampton, next year.... and ask the Warriors after next year if they would like to play the Rangers,... I believe their answer would be no.

East made two plays and that was about it.. The Elizabethton Offensive coach made several bad decision on play calling. Turn down fields goals twice before the half and shoots for the endzone instead of trying a game winning field goal in the final minute. Elizabethton ran the ball well and would stop their drives by throwing the ball. Bad play calling...and not the first time this year.. Something needs to change, because Pless is taking the heat and may not be responable for what is happening. He was a star QB and should be calling the offense..

HV4Slizzer Not only can you not spell you cannot count. Peters played three years at Hunter and was a starter in the sixth grade .. You saw so much of him because he scored 42 points against you as a seventh grader... As the Tigers went 24-0 that season, while defeating all of Kingsports teams and Vance in Bristol.. Coach Dorsey played one of the toughest schedules of any Elementary school. As for the paper, the crap you are reading is all about athletics... So are you an athlete or a fan... either way thanks fof reading the crap in the paper. It has put very much prssure on the other papers to carry more sports

HV4Slizzer No 1. Do you have any ideal what you are talking about Stoney is spelled Stoney not the way you learn to spell it.. No 2 There is no Junior High on Stoney Creek, Only Unaka and Hunter. Third, My son Charles has lived a total of two years out of 17years of his life on Stoney Creek. He has lived in the City since birth, except for a few years in Chattanooga. So know your facts before you make statements you know nothing about. And for Etsportsman NO he is not transferring anywhere and will be playing football for Coach Pless in August. As for his brother Jeff who is at Unaka Elementary, he will be playing for the Rangers again this year as for high school he will be given the same option his brother was. Hopefully he will take his time, and make a decision he will glad he made for the rest of his life.

Work received as of Friday was Coach Tommy Jenkins has resigned as Head football coach at Elizabethton High.. Dave Ryder former Cyclone Coach and granddad of Cowboy Superstar Jason Witten will be the new and returning coach . The job is his if he wants and terms are met on both ends.. Word is Jim Hastings will also return. Other reports are Eddie Pless who was intern coach in some games for Betsy last year has applied for the Daniel Boone Job along with the States second winninest coach Mike Lunsford.

All Football Conference team to be announced, Sports Banquet should be on December 14, 1:30 in Elizabethton. Players making the All-Sports team will be announced along with DPSW Player of the Year.

Gary Smith came through the triple by-pass heart surgery with flying colors. Sitting up a little on Thrusday aand expected to walk a little on Friday.. A scary 15 minutes on the ball court, thanks to all the paramedics and nurses attending the game.

Look for the Cyclones to run greatly with the ball, Coach Hardin in my opinion slowed the ball down in the past few years to allow his 6 ft 9 forward to work the boards... With no height, they will have to run this year and I believe he will turn Bailey and Turley loose with their speed. I think Blevins, if not a starter at first will be before Christmas... Also Elizabethton starts off with Greenville and Kingsport in the first games this year.

Unaka has probably the toughest schedule in the entire state. They also have the team to win most of these big games... If I'm not mistaken, they play Greenville and Morristown on Thanksgiving weekend, Two Knoxville teams, at Johnson County tournament, They travel to Temple and McCallie later in the year. Should be an interesting year.
