  1. Curious to know if either team has any personnel issues, injuries, etc. that could effect this game. Also, Legend, how do you think this one will turn out?
  2. The Pearl Cohn fighting Masons would seem to have the advantage here. Heard he got banged around pretty good last night...anything to worry about injury-wise for this young man. From everything he has put together this year he must really be a talent. Hope he can remain at full speed for the rest of this run of theirs.
  3. Not that it matters...but I don't remember LC really trying to avoid HC when they were 4A. Actually, it seemed to be a source of pride to beat them when they were playing as a very poor 4A squad. Heck, they were a poor squad for any level. But a few years and a lot of hard work later...and now, they are too big a program to earn an "impressive" win in Hohenwald? Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
  4. Yeah, got that the first time, Legend. Redundancy doesn't make you right! 3-0 vs. 3A+ doesn't make you a world beater.
  5. Hey Randall, this is a high school thread...cut the chord! Not the BATTLE that some would have you believe. Could be a good game, but in the great scheme of things, Beech will struggle this year and SC will always be a step behind,
  6. IMO success at the ms level means zip. Due to consolidation, budget restriction and travel restrictions very few middle schools play the caliber of competition, through no fault of their own, that high schools must face. This problem even trickles down to pee-wee leagues which might play teams from 3 communities for a "Super Bowl" and whose parents then feel their kids have proven themselves worthy of 5A high school success. No way. It is all about Jimmys and Joes and what have you done for me lately.

Glad to hear Coach Wallace is moving up in the world. Good luck. Where is Hiter from?

Great young coach with a tremendous future who has done yeoman's work in a terrible situation...Michael Wallace from Hickman County Paul Lamm at Spring Hill has the ability and has begun to turn around that program The guy who had to take over at Harpeth this year is pretty good. He has been an asst. there for some time and some people feel he has had a large part in their success in recent years
  9. Excellent points. I applaud you and your son. It sounds as if it has benefitted you all and I wish your son much success. Sounds like he has the drive to achieve great things.
  10. a few things to consider: -2 regions worth of players vying for spots on 1 team to play 3 games. Not enough innings to go around -someone would have to drive a long way to your hometown, too -showcase designed to promote kids to college, sophomores have plenty of time to be seen -a lot of kids are previously known about because they were good players for their high school. If a kid doesn't shine for his school's season, he probably isn't going to outshine many others in the showcase -these tryouts are conducted much more professionally than many of the pro or college "combines" you will attend and lastly, we all know that all answers are in the bleachers if only someone would take the time to ask those perched there. These coaches do this solely for the kids. To promote them to the next level. There is no supplement, no bonus, no prize, not even a trophy. But it still gets done every year. And every year a number of kids who were previously unsigned, receive a scholarship offer they didn't have before.
