    MBA @ BGA

MBA turned it around today behind a complete game, shutout by Brad French of BGA 6-0. Here's how the middle region stands after today's games BA-3-0 BGA- 2-1 MBA- 1-2 Ryan- 0-3 [Edited by BigRed3 on 4-16-03 8:17P]
  5. i'm thinking mba will make a turn around, we're just having problems with pitching right no...but it can be fixed, and hopefully we'll be back in the hunt...it's early in the region.
  6. ba defeated mba 10-8 today. ba scored 3in the first and 5 in the second to take an 8-0 lead after two. then mba battled back and made it a game. ba flat out ripped the whole game, and got some pretty good pitching. pettus(mba) and heard(ba) both pitched the whole game. mba had around 9 hits, and ba had 13. all marks go to the ba lineup they ripped pretty much the whole game.
  7. although i'm not michael fisher, he has a bad hamstring, and has been out for a week or two but is supposed to come back in the next two days. we really need him, and should get back to playing well.
  8. yes bga did give us a whoopin, that was by far the worst we've played all year, and we got caught lookin forward to the ba game tomorrow...but don't count us out yet, it was just an off night
  9. i am a current member of the MBA football team, and in some ways i agree with brandon and in others i don't. playing out of state really does help a team measure where they are at skill wise, and can be a great way to play good competition and toughen yorself for the playoffs. BUT i don't think that anyone is "weaker" or worse than MBA or BA beacuse they don't play out of state teams, or tougher schedles. but i would like to see riverdale take an image risk and play a BA or MBA or Maryville, just to see who the top dogs in tennessee really are. and just for the record, while i've been at mba, in no was has riverdale dominated that scrimmage. but to say that it doesn't matter to be in a national ap poll is a sign of ignorance. my teams works its butt off for that reason, and to wear a ring on their fingers later that year. we strive to be ranked, because we're giving the state of tennesse a name for itelf nationally. very few players can say that they were part of a team that was ranked so highly, and repected so much on a national scale. i know that these polls can't possibly be completely true, but you still have to be a very quality team to even be considered. So i think that playing out of state teams is a great idea, and all schools should try to do so every few years, just to add that excitement to the season that MBA is feeling right now about their game this season with the #3 ranked team in the nation Trinity, from Kentucky. Riverdale and teams like them are great teams, they are focused merely on getting rings. and there is nothing wrong with that beacuse they are highly successful at doing so. MBA just feels that they want a little more, icing on the cake if you will, by being considered one of the top 25 in the counry, and there is nothing wrong with that. we are arguing two totally diferent goals of two totally different types of programs. whichever one suits you...go all out for it. oh and don't talk of my school only as rich, snobby, stuck up white boys. i think we've odne enough to earn your respect, just as we respect you and your schools. oh and for those that say that d2 is weak, and not tough because of it's playoff format...you did it yourselves by kicking us out. We'd be gald to come back to d1 again and pound on you even more. so put us on your schedule and see if we're really as weak as you say we are. and also there has never been anyone to attend MBA that was granted financial aid because he was a good football player. we give financial aid to those who can't support themselves, but want the strong education that our school provides, what's wrong with that? MBA teams have always been smaller, weaker, less atheletic teams, but always find a way to win by outsmarting the opponent and playing with more heart. we don't need to recruit to make ourselves better, and neither does BA, we've already proven ourselves. USA Classic

Congrats to Germantown on their title, they deserve every bit of it. They came back and scored 8 runs in he bottom of the 7th to defeat MBA 11-10 in round one, and manufactured enough runs, despite 7 errors in their first two games to win the usa classic. When they fine tune their defense, they'll be close to unstoppable, because they have one of the most stacked lineups i've seen.
  11. mba is 9-5 after a loss to lebanon today (monday). germantown wednesday
  12. congradulations to ba and the rest of d2, sounds like we're going to have another really close year.

    DIVISION 2

ben is really good, can gun pretty much anyone.
  14. for he bruin dude, you're good, but no that good, we rocked seth williams and trent ashcraft in that scrimmage and ya'll didn't touch any of our pitchers. i think we won 8-3 ...i dunno if that's right...but hey it's just a scrimmage, dunno how much that means, but good luck to the bruins this year gary...i mean Joe...how you know who i am.
  15. Brad French pitched a perfect game today, tuesday, against the USN tigers, as MBA defeated thme 26-0 today...the big red is now 5-3 and have wilson central tomorrow
  16. now i'm in your head garyknowscrap.....
  17. i would have to agree with that one(houston)...i played with all of those guys as a little kid on the germantown giants, and i have never playedwith a better group of players, they are the real deal. but MBA has a pretty good one as well 1.Scott Pettus 2. Hunter Hawkins 3. Brad French 4. Brian Harris Closer - Wylie Jones.
  18. you know who i think was the most worthless basketball player this year? Joe Thompson....good lord he as overrated and just terrible.
  19. let gary sit over there and make a fool out of himself, and think he's worthwhile.
  20. gary you're just ignorant...andrew wilson went to princeton on a football scholarship, and warner jones got a grand total of 4 hits during region play. the substate score against cbhs wasn't 4-1 because of his great hitting. Fisher, Pettus, Franch, and big man Santi, are gunna do to you in baseball what we did to you in football. you better ride the sticks of petsche and lynch for the rest of the year, cause if you don't, it's gunna be a long season for the irish. [Edited by BigRed3 on 3-24-03 9:40P]
  21. who exactly is your rotation gary... all i've heard is, your team got ripped to shreds in tullahoma, and no pitcher is coming through for you. i'll take our rotation over yours any day. 1.scott pettus (1-0) 1Er in 14 innings, 15k's 2. Hunter Hawkins - (2-0) beat a great florida team 3. brad French - (0-0) - can't get any run support 4. Brian Harris - (1-1) - him and vinnett are best sophs in the state Closer - Wylie Jones - (0-2) - has had two tough games, but will make a fool out of anyone.
  22. again, i'd like to say that centennial has a good team, but not a great team. when i pitched against you, there were only one or two people that i had to respect, and change what i wanted to do....which was austin and the shortstop, other than that, your line-up seemed pretty poor. BUT i think every team starts out slow at the plate. you're pitching, which i've heard is good, is going to have to take you a long way, and carry you through the season. but maybe me and my mba team just caught you on a bad night. good luck to you this season, you were classy the other day, and i hope you go far in your division.
  23. i can't believe you ba people have convinced yourselves that you don't recruit. every time i go to a football or basketball game, i am reminded of how pathetic of an academic instituion you have. frankL is right, you are brainwashed. who is the principal, brown, or flatt. i go to mba and play football and every day i'm proud that our football team so embarrassingly denied your school the only thing it holds dear, a golden football. flatt is not a legend in any sense of the word, and for the ba community to give him the respect that's given to him now, makes me sick. I"m sorry to bring up the recruiting arguement, but BA did get away with it, and i had to put in my 2 cents after reading some of the ignorance in this thread. the administration needs to reorder it's priorities, and focus on schoolastics, not sports. but wesvols, i do respect your posts, and people like you are why coacht is successfull. and think it really cheats out the good players you had (hunter mize, J.P. Wilcher, Pete Compton) that would've played and contributed, but were knocked out of their spots by these newcomers. [Edited by BigRed3 on 3-15-03 11:24P]
  24. Andrew hogin is by far the best player in the state, has he signed anywhere yet...call 911
