  1. If I am not mistaken, the earliest that Boyd Buchanan and South Pitt. could meet in the playoffs is the Quarterfinals (3rd Round). This is all based on things working out the way Whitvol has them, which I believe will happen. Of course you have three interesting matchups with Gordonsville v. South Pitt. in the 2nd Round, and Boyd v. FCS/Whitwell winner. There is nothing like the playoffs!
  2. I don't know who these people are that keep stating that FCS will kill Houston Co., but I can assure you that the team is preparing hard for Friday. The coaches and players want this game bad and are not over confident. Coach McNeal takes every opponent seriously and prepares his team.

    1a mr football

There are two quarterbacks from the mid-state that would have to get my vote. Jonathan Ward of Collinwood and Justin Gaines from Friendship Christian. Ward has over 2,000 all purpose yards and Gaines has a little over 1,700 yards for the year. Each can run and pass, which makes them both dangerous. They are both also Div-1 prospects.
  4. This is the last response that I will have on this matter, but coming from students that have gone to both schools, the education is not the same. You will be more challenged at Friendship than the average school. Secondly, I have friends at Wilson Central, therefore, I am not going to speak bad about the school. But, I just don't see how their kids can compete with Riverdale, Smyrna, Oakland, Blackman, Lavergne,... among others. They are going to 5A next year for those that didn't know.
  5. There are many good players in this state, but I would have to say that Justin Gaines from Friendship Christian ranks up there with the best! Here are his stats through 7 games. Passing: attempt complete yardage t.d. 147 85 1,153 6 Rushing: attempt yardage t.d. 64 388 5 Tackles: 31
  6. Twan, I believe that the exodus to Wilson Central is over because so many students have crossed the interstate and realized that the school is not the promised land. We have already had kids leave and come back. Unfortunately for them, they have no hope of winning either.
  7. I don't believe that I saw Jeff Speedy's name on this thread, who went on to be the starting QB at Kentucky. Also, Kirk Johnson went on to play for Illinois at QB. I must also mention that one of my best friends, Michael Agee, went to MTSU and kicked and played wide receiver for the Blue Raiders.

    Playoff Picture

Since Davidson Academy beat Jo Byrns on Friday, they can get in the playoffs if they can pull one out against FRA. It is possible, then they would go in the #4 spot. If FRA beats DA, then Jo Byrns will get in again because they don't play FRA or DCA. It is really ridiculous the way they have that Region set up. Prediction: 1. Ezell-Harding 2. CPA 3. DCA 4. Davidson Academy or Jo Byrns

    FRA/DCA

I have to agree with Chakra20. I have seen both teams play up close and personal and I am predicting that FRA defends the home terf. They have the size and skill backs to play with DCA and have been close the last few weeks. This week the Panthers will come through. 21-17
  10. Which tailback and when did he break his foot?
  11. I would like to personally apologize for any FC player that might have used foul language or committed and dirty play. Please, don't think that these allegations are taught. #2 did not mean to hurt #25 for Carthage. I have spoke with him and he guarantees me that that is not the case. I saw the play and have also witnessned it on film and have no reason to believe other wise. For those labeling FC as jerks and dirty because of a few allegations is unfair because I am not labeling Carthage fans as rednecks based on a few characters in the endzone cussing at the players. It doesn't matter the reason because these are teenagers and for adults to do that is ridiculous. Not that it matters, but the on side kick was intentional and don't try to fool yourself other wise.
  12. I have personally seen each of these runningbacks Harper, Ward, and Wooden. They each have their own running styles and dangerous qualities that can give an opposing team headaches. I will not say which is better between Harper and Ward because that is simply my opinion, but they are both great high school runningbacks. Wooden is only a soph. and he has a chance to reach the level or surpass these two fine senior runningbacks.
  13. Personally, the coaches and players at Friendship could care less what an individual baseball player, which is from a local public school has to say about our field. We work hard to have this facility and when Coach Simcox from UT says that we have a gem of a field, then Friendship has something to take pride in. Lebanon has a great city field to play on also, which does contain lights. We choose not to have lights for different reasons that are irrelevant. FCS and Lebanon have good relations and that won't change because some kid wants to bash us.
  14. A young man to watch out for is Jr. Trey Medlin from Friendship Christian. He was ineligible last year until Regions, which he put a show on with 18 strikouts! He throws high 80's with a good knuckle-curve, and nasty chang-up.
  15. From what I hear DCA is very confident that they will run right over Friendship, which could very well happen. This game is played at DCA and they are coming off a big win over Davidson Academy. Friendship will have to bring their "A" game and play with a total sale out mentality to beat the Wildcats.
  16. For a quarterback stats can be very misleading, especially at the high school level. You can have a couple of studs to throw hitches, slants, and spot passes to and then those receivers turn that into big gains or touchdowns, but the quarterback gets the stats. I have seen Ezell play and their offense is designed to hit these types of routes, with the occasional go route that the outside burner can run under and take it the distance. Ezell's quarterback is good, but their receivers are studs and to say that their quarterback is the best in state based on his stats might be premature.

    FRA???

I guess that everyone is saying that since FRA got beat to Friendship they are not very good this year?
  18. I was wondering what some different people thought about this interesting matchup. Can FCS handle the size of Monterey and can Monterey keep up with the Commanders quickness? Which team has the advantange, the size or the quickness? This is a big game for both teams because of region standings and playoff seeding. Go Vols!
  19. Friendship's field is 320 in the corners and 360 in centerfield. The wall is about 10-12 feet high, so it is a pretty good poke to hit it out. The field is in great shape and has all the great surroundings for a baseball game. We have added some new things to the complex this year and really has it looking sharpe.
