  1. two years ago when warren county made it to state, i'm willing to say that cookeville was the best team in the region that year, too... cookeville will not be as good this year as they were last, i think. unless the players really come together and decide they really want it. and cookeville had two players with long curly hair. both graduated.
  2. the match between cookeville and tullahoma for the region 4-aaa championship last year featured 17 starting seniors among the two teams. cookeville's traveling team has played tullahoma twice this year, and i believe they have tied and lost.
  3. cookeville lost all three starting forwards, three of four midfielders, one of three defenders, and their goalkeeper. they do have potential to be good this year, and i hope they fulfill that potential.
  4. but i think that if cookeville had had their full team and had been 100 % healthy, the game against clarksville would have been closer. cookeville has the potential to be decent this year, they just need to come together as a team. they have good leadership, and they should be pretty good up top. depending on how strong or week district 7-aaa next year, cookeville has a chance to compete for the district again. another state run, not likely, though.
  5. i'd go with farragut over bearden... i think a team that will turn heads next year is shelbyville, they return almost their entire starting lineup. maybe my boys can make another run...

    Anyone else.

i'd have to give the vote to cookeville's coach paul hayes. if you could have seen cookeville four years ago, and then watch us this past season...you'd be amazed at the progress we've made. and it was all under his direction.
  7. nope. kent's numbers this year were just as high in the goals category, but he had less assists. plus, cookeville made it to state this year.
  8. cookeville was once d-III runner-up.
  9. if tennessee high school makes it to the spring fling, that's a long, long trip they have to make.
  10. probably so, he's a great keeper. last year, kent starkweather definitely should have been on there (he had better numbers last year), but he was snubbed because of cookeville's not advancing past districts.
  11. hey wolf, we got your message at the radio station friday. what's the surprise? have fun over there, man...kent, epley, scott, tyler, and rao are going there in a few days...well i think they're going to england for a bit...
  12. i'd love to put a team together, but i don't think that many people from cookeville will be playing over the summer. the majority of our team this year was seniors, and most of us will have jobs or will be on trips. usually in the summer, we play in an indoor league in knoxville, but i don't think we are doing that this summer. but i'll talk to some of the younger guys and see if they'd be interested. but the games couldn't be in cookeville, for we only have one real soccer field, the one at chs.
  13. utknoxville16 does not play for chs, he played on our team a couple of years ago...
  14. 1st team: roland borys, kent starkweather, brandon smith, matt currie 2nd team: bobby norwood, luciano zanforlin, tyler huddleston, sam matson honorable mention: krishna rao, corey boyd

    respect

i hope that my district (7-aaa) earned some respect this year. for the second straight year, the district has been represented in the state tournament (warren county and cookeville). other than bearden and farragut's district, i don't know how many other districts have done this in recent years.
  16. yeah, unfortunately for us, we wound up getting 5th overall. another team beat us in the round of 8. i'm really disappointed because the trip is rather wasted for me, when i could have been helping my team give clarksville a game. oh well, things go that way...congrats to clarksville on last friday
  17. then count bobby norwood, our starting sweeper.
