  1. I agree ptguard12. When you are a Class A school with only 7 or 8 regular players, and you take 2 out (Franks & Clark) with pre-season injuries, you put a serious hole in the lineup. To be honest, alot of us thougth Lincoln Co. would blow us out with thoses holes. Essentially, the Lady Eagles played the entire game with 5 players - and the fatigue showed late in the game. Congrats to the Lady Eagles for toughing it out and giving AAA Lincoln Co. all the wanted and then some. Hopefully Emily and Kayla will be back by early December and then we'll be ready to roll.
  2. I assume the 4 gcounty is referring to would be 2 regular season games, District Championship and Region Championship. Hopefully, though, there will be 5 (State finals).
  3. Hey Pageman, saw you at the games, but didn't get a chance to talk to you. Emily had X-rays this afternoon - fortunately nothing appears to be broken, just a severe high sprain. She is in an imobilizer and on crutches for a week - probably will miss the first week or two of the season.
  4. Don't know the full schedule, but S'town plays at like 10:00 AM and 12:30. I believe Loretto plays about 9:00 and L'burg plays at 11:00 - I'm not sure of who any of their opponents are. Probably not much help, but it is all I know at this time.
  5. No, Summertown did not field a 13-15 Dixie team this year - did not have enough to make a team. There are 7-8 playing for various travel teams, though. By the way, you might want to catch the 16-18 Dixie State Tournament, which is being played this weekend (July 16-18) in Jackson (Madison North). Games begin Saturday evening - Championship will be Monday evening. There are about 6-7 teams competing - Summertown, Humphreys Co., Cheatham Co., Old Hickory and Madison North are the ones I am aware of - not sure of who the other 1 or 2 are. The winner advances to the Dixie World Series in Dothan, AL on July 30th.
  6. Summertown has a Dixie 16-18 girls fastpitch team this year and will probably have one next year, as well. This year, they have had trouble finding teams to play, as well. They are playing teams from Waverly and North Alabama (Greenhill, Tuscumbia & Florence). Have also heard that there is a team in Old Hickory (Nashville area).
  7. Great job by the Lady Eagles. Just as in 17 of the past 25 years - everyone is talking about the other teams in 12-A during the pre-season and end up talking about the Lady Eagles in the post-season. Keep it up - The 'Claw .......
  8. FYI - S'town already beat Collinwood 5-0 last week -
  9. When does Tullahoma play Columbia? And where is it?
  10. When she first thought about it, she said No. But she's gone and visted a few colleges, and likes it. So probably. I cant speak for her, but I think she probably will.
  11. Kristal Edney from Perry County is the 2004-2005 Class A Miss Basketball. Congratulations Kristal, you deserve it!
  12. I understand your questions ballfanwm, but we also shot a dismal 33% from the Field. C-range only shot 49%, so if we had been on our game a little better, we could have come away with the win. Great Season by the Lady Eagles -
  13. Wormy1, notice that no one from Summertown has been on here bragging about anything - these comments are being made by other teams that have faced us. Are they over the top with their descriptions of the Lady Eagles ? - Heck, yes. Summertown's players, coaches & fans are only looking for a victory. No predictions on the point-spread, or anything else. We saw Clarkrange play back at Christmas and know that they are a tough opponent - these 2 teams probably shouldn't have met until the Semi's, or even the Finals. Go Lady Eagles !
  14. No offense meant mustangfan - my comment was just to share that I think Loretto's road to the 'Boro will be alot tougher for the next few years, since they will likely be facing the Nashville area private schools at the Region and/or Sub-State level. I expect the AA schools (not only Loretto) to not like what the A schools have been putting up with for the past 20 years.
  15. Will be tough again - but the question is - how many of the Nashville-area private schools will be in their district & region for the next few years ?
  16. Wrong - Ezell's big man did play - I was at the game. Summertown lost to FRA in the SubState (at S'town) in 2004. S'town defeated Nashville Christian in the SubState (at CPA) in 2003. Having seen both MP & Ezell play this season, I say MP by 10 -
  17. You better believe we are glad to have him. Just hope we can hold onto him for many years to come.
  18. I don't know about the 65-28, as predicted by roper - I'll be happy to escape with a 1 point win and live to play on Wednesday.
  19. I drive most of this route daily to & from Nashville - Take I-65 South to Saturn Parkway to Hwy 31 toward Columbia. As you come into Columbia, the second traffic light will be a large intersection. Hwy 43 South will turn the the right. Turn right on Hwy 43 South. This is a 4-lane that will take you around the West side of Columbia, down past Mt. Pleasant to Summertown. This will be about 25 miles. Turn right off of Hwy 43 onto Hwy 20 at Summertown. You will go thru Summertown, cross the railroad tracks, past the Post Office, etc. The Hwy will then split - there is a small store (Summertown Market) that sits in the middle of this split. Take the left fork (Turnpike). Stay on this road for approx. 10-12 miles and it will dead-end into Hwy 64. Turn right on Hwy 64 and it will take you straight into Waynesboro - in about 15 miles. As you come into Waynesboro, there will be a Hwy 64 bypass that turns off to the right - do not turn. Stay straight until you reach the Square. Go 3/4ths the way around the square & turn right on Hwy 13 South. Wayne County High School will be about 1 mile ahead on the left. Drive time from Brentwood to Waynesboro will be about 1 hour 35-45 minutes.
  20. OK - someone tell us what to expect from FRA tomorrow night.
  21. Looks like it may be a cupcake for Forrest for the next few years.
  22. This article highlights the fact that Meneese is totally out of touch. Its not his, or his official's, job to hold coaches accountable for wins, how long to use a press, or anything dealing with X's & O's. His response shows how totally lost he is.
  23. Here are the ones I remember - S'town - Brittany Lovett, Emily Franks, Beth Long & Tamia Tucker Wayne Co. - Amy McDonald, Cassie Jones & Brooke Staggs Forrest - Teri Slater & Gaby Bussell Perry Co - Kristal Edney & Alecia Weatherly There is no MVP selection in the Region The Tournament director did screw up the awards ceremony by calling out the wrong players from S'town & Wayne Co. (multiple players with same last name). It got sorted out in the end, but was very unprofessional.
  24. Congrats to the Lady Cats on a great tournament. Unfortunately, we were their latest victim. No excuses and no blaming of officials for that game. Unfortunately, injuries have hampered the Lady Eagles of late, with Scott being limited, then last night's injury to Tamia Tucker further hampered S'town's abilility to press. Added to that was the fact that Wayne County was hitting everything they threw-up (including 30-foot threes), while the Lady Eagles struggled to get shots to fall. Surely the Lady Eagles will not have that bad of shooting 2 games in a row - if we do, then we don't deserve being in the big dance anyway. Good luck to Wayne Co. against CPA & here is hoping the Lady Eagles can invade FRA and grab a win.
  25. Congrats to the Lady Vikings on a great season. As you all know, the Summertown/Perry County rivalry goes back decades - but its one we all enjoy. We go into battle against one another, then shake hands and are friends until the next battle. I know many were looking forward to another S'town/PC showdown in the Region finals - unfortunately it did not work out this year. Next year, it may be us that are out early. Great season to Kristal, Alecia, Paige & the rest of the gang. Keep your heads up and bring it again next season. Heavily campaigning for Kristal in the Miss Basketball crown ... bring it home to 12-A.
