  1. There is no way Rikki can play in the SEC. A very good Lady Ranger from years back (Angie Peters; who by the way scored over 2,000 points) went to Clemson and was not quick enough to compete against the guards in the ACC. And Rikki will not be playing post at UT. However, she will make a great addition to a small D-I or lower level college program. As for Pietrowski... a lot of basketball yet to be played.
  2. Most nights Unaka can be a top Offensive team. As far a executing multiple defenses Unaka does a good job of that also. Cloudland vs Unaka again in Afton for the District Title!
  3. Granted I have only seen her play twice, but how S. Caldwell for Volunteer was held to under 10 points in a game is quite an accomplishment. Is anyone looking at her to play in college or have I just seen a couple of her better games? Good Luck in the Finals!!
  4. The only poll that counts is the one at the end of the State Tournament. As far as being over rated, I hope that you have seen them play to make that assessment, being that you are unbiased. Over or under rated in reality means nothing. But to tell your children that "back when I was in high school I played for the # 1 rated team in the state". Whether, it lasts a day, week or year, it is a great memory to have.
  5. I figured we'd run "TeePee" for 8 minutes a game! Ha! Thanks for the correction. I haven't seen Weaver play enough. So I'll claim "lack of scouting ignorance". I'd like to build my own college and take those 10 and take my NAIA chances. I wish real colleges would recruit them as a group. I know some are underclassmen and there are limits to scholarships but.... just dreaming.
  6. Co-MVP's - Rikki Baughman & Renee Ensor (w/o either of these the teams are not as good and can be beaten without them) so they are MVP's to their respective teams. My humble opinion! 1st Team: PG: Renee Ensor (Back-up: Heather Chambers) SG: Jessica Osborne (Back-up: Jessica Lunsford) SF: Rikki Baughman (Back: Valneesha Redd) PF: Julie Roberson (Back-up: Elizabeth Weaver) C: Michaela Pietrowski (Back-up: Keila Williams) Ill take these 10 in any game against any team. It would be 24 minutes of pressure basketball, both offensively and defensively). You have defenders: Ensor, Redd, Osborne, Chambers, Weaver and Baughman outside shooting: Osborne, Baughman, Ensor, Lunsford & Chambers inside scoring: Baughman, Roberson, Weaver, Williams & Pietrowski rebounding: Roberson, Williams, Baughman, Weaver, Pietrowski, Osborne, Redd and Ensor pressure players: Baughman, Osborne, Ensor, Weaver and Lunsford Coaches: Fisher and Chambers
  7. I knew I could stir up some good posts. And I guess I am making up for the various times this and last year for the Unaka slightings on your part, 17. However, I have seen both play and I would be amazed if EHS could play a full 24 minutes of pressure basketball. Val could and the rest would be out of gas. Again, my opinion.
  8. 1. Unaka (25-1) Won Watauga Valley Conf; Beat Twin Springs, VA; Beat Cloudland; Beat Johnson County 2. Elizabethton (22-5) Beat Greeneville (Huge Win); Beat Volunteer; Beat Johnson County; Still can't get myself to tie them with a 25-1 team with its lone loss to a team in one of the toughest region's in the state 3. Cloudland (18-8) Lost to Unaka; avenged a loss to Cosby 4. Happy Valley (8-17) Lost to Unicoi County; Lost to Sullivan Central 5. Hampton (8-20) Lost to Volunteer; Lost to Sullivan North
  9. Conference title and only 1 loss.....reconsidering the tie for first even with the Greeneville win. A team with 5 losses tied with one with a single loss? I need convcincing.
  10. Looks like we are going to be tied for first. Huge win for the Lady Cyclones! I wonder if Greeneville is kicking themselves for scheduling a quality 2 A team...Ooops!! Did I actually type that?
  11. After 1,000 views and 50 posts last week nothing this week? Strange?
  12. 1. Unaka (22-1) - Won at Cosby; Monday Twin Springs; Tuesday the game of their year thus far vs. Cloudland; @ Johnson Co. on Thursday; Only the Cloudland game matters Watagua Valley Conference title on the line 2. Elizabethton (19-5) - Clinched Conference title with big win over Unicoi Co.; Tough game tonight as Greeneville rolls into town; Tuesday Volunteer comes in to try to disrupt a perfect Conference record; @ Johnson Co. on Fri. 3. Cloudland (17-7) - Big wins over Unicoi Co. and North Greene; Are in a position to share Watauga Valley Conference title; @Unaka Tuesday; Hampton comes to the Mountain on Thursday. 4. (Tie) Happy Valley (8-15) Lost to winless Johnson Co; Beat Hampton; Tuesday @ Central; Friday @Unicoi Co.; Looks like a TOUGH week ahead for the Warriors. 4.(Tie) Hampton (8-17) - Lost to Central, Crockett and HV; @ Cloudland Thursday; North comes in on Friday. Unaka did nothing to lose their # 1 ranking. If EHS can beat Greeneville, it would warrant a tie with Unaka, if both win the games on this weeks schedule. HV losing to Johnson Co. is the reason for the 4th place tie. Hard to believe that happened. Happy Criticizing!!!!
  13. I thought serving suspensions was for the level that you were ejected from. But as usual a smart move not to risk losing or having a game taken away on a technicallity (no pun). Congrats! Now finish it up!
  14. Not trying to cause any problems but.... is EHS not playing up in football and getting the chance to do just that!!! Just a thought. Science Hill and DB are taking that risk...Correct?
  15. Gee!! Coachh17, I didn't realize the magnitude of discussion created by the Carter County Top 5 (I guess I hadn't paid that much attention to it this year). I'm just glad I get to be initial pollster and get answer simple opinion questions. Good Luck to all and keep Carter County hopping.
  16. Thanks guys. Those of us that cannot attend appreceiate the effort.
  17. I don't know the whole situation at Hampton with Coach Campbell nor do I want to know. Coach Tolley would be the best choice for coaching the Lady Bulldogs. No one puts more effort into scouting, game prep and getting the most out of their players than Leon. Whether, he would be interested or not....who knows. I don't know that he has ever coached girls before. As for Coach Lunsford, he has always had good teams with both boys and girls. I'm not too sure his methods would work for high school girls (I would for see lots of screaming, crying, parent complaints, but again this is just an opinion). Girls are different than boys especially at the high school level. Boys play a bigger role in girls lives at that age! Just my thoughts, since I was asked. Not trying to offend anyone.
  18. O.K. Quick Analysis for Unaka's edge: 1) They were #1 of coachh17 last poll and haven't lost since. 2) Beat Volunteer without Julie and Jessica (question to you:could Betsy beat Volunteer without Rikki and Pietrowski?) Jessica - leading scorer = Rikki - leading scorer; Julie leading rebounder, tallest player, shot-blocker = Michaela - leading rebounder, tallest player, shot blocker. I don't have any idea, so I thought I would throw that one to you? Based on EHS tougher schedule this year, it should help them in the tournament. That is about as good of an answer that I can give without them actually playing.
  19. In the words of a Great Leader and Mentor: Is it time to beat the dead horse again????? As for the slight advantage: One trip to the State Tournament for Unaka. No trips for the Lady Cyclones.
  20. Well here it goes... 1. Unaka (21-1) - Beat Johnson Co. 71-30; Tough game at Cosby Tuesday Playing well, seem to be tournament ready 2. Elizabethton (17-5) - Beat Central 59-43; Beat HV 52-28; Play a weak North team Tuesday and a tough game at Unicoi Co.;Looking for 1st Conference crown in years 3. Cloudland (14-6) - Beat UH 46-36; Tough game at Unicoi Co. tonight; N. Greene comes to the mountain Fri; 4. Happy Valley (7-14) - Beat North 54-40; Beat Johnson Co. 70-53; Lost to Elizabethton 52-28; Plays Johnson Co Tues and Hampton comes to Warrior Hill Fri; Seem to be playing better in spurts. 5. Hampton (8-14) - Lost to Volunteer 71-41; Beat Johnson Co. 53-41; Plays Central Tues, Crockett Wed and at HV Fri; News of Coach Lunsford coaching next year all over the rumor mill
  21. I hate that you are leaving. However, I know that you are doing what is best for your family. As if your Lady Cyclone bias was not included in any of your Weekly's, I will try to continue on your time honored tradition. So starting Monday I will make my feeble attempt to adequately replace the MAN, the guru, and EVERYBODY's HERO "coachh17". I feel as though I have been knighted! Maybe I should go as Sir Brutus now? Good luck and keep an e-mail, phone # and Address readily available.
  22. As with many of her other Lady Ranger teammates she hit 1000 points. Julie last year, Jessi should do it this year with Danielle and Coty getting awful close. Renee like the others are unconcerned with who scores the points as long as the TEAM wins. However, as with Julie, Congratulations are in order...so in the words of an infamous Lady Ranger leader. Go, Fight, Win! Ha!
  23. Who wins? UH played them tough at the University? (Poor coaching I heard) See ya tonight.
  24. I saw where they won, but what happened?
