  1. Trinity has been part of the TSSAA since 1996, not exactly a new kid on the block. In 13 years, they have won 2 team state championships(both in softball), just now won their first ever football region championship and boys basketball District Tournament(they ended up 5th in regular season). I don't exactly think they've been beating down the publics for any amount of time, yet you feel since they have had recent success in ONE sport that it's just unfair for publics to have to play them. There are a ton of other schools just like Trinity, but you want to group us all into one.
  2. You do realize that they'd have to win tonight and then tomorrow to win state, right? The only team that can actually win it outright tonight would be Trinity because they haven't lost yet.
  3. I'm still trying to figure out why Soddy has to beat GPS at State... Some schools have good programs, like I said earlier. The best kids are gonna want to go there, PERIOD. Also I don't see where this "private schools are all there at the end" stuff is true. A football 1 out of final 8 was private, AA 2 out of Final 8 were private, AAA 1 out of 8 was private. 4 out of 24 were private, 16%. Girls Basketball had no privates at State in A or AA. Boys Basketball had 3 out of both divisions, who were all three put out first round. 3 out of 32, less than 10%. In Baseball, 5 out of 16 for 31%. Softball, 3 out 16 for 19% I don't know why I'm even bothering to actually provide these numbers because those of you who believe that your teams have been slighted don't care. After the private schools go, then it will turn to someone else and so on and so on. You'll find some reason to whine until everyone gets a trophy at the end of the season, and no one is considered a winner, just a participant.
  4. They go year round to pitching lessons and work constantly at trying to get better. That has a lot to do with how good they are, plus a ton of God-given ability!
  5. Ivy and Ellen are both great pitchers. They throw a lot of movement, which keeps a lot of batters off balance. Forrest put the ball in play a lot last night, and the defense behind Ellen was great! I think both Ivy and Ellen would say that they are better pitchers because they know the defense is behind them. I was also impressed with Stinett last night. She throws just enough off speed and junk to keep a batter guessing. It was a fun game to be a part of!
  6. Exactly, it doesn't matter if they're public or private SOME programs are just dominant. Covington softball has been to state 22 years(12 in a row) and Gibbs has been there 18 times, winning 8 championships. Soddy Daisy has won 6, and they made it back to state after losing all but one of their starters from last year! The best programs just reload, like Maryville and Alcoa in football, Shelbyville and Jackson Co. in Girls Basketball, Goodpasture in Softball, Farragut in baseball, etc. When a programs starts winning, the best players want to go there because it increases their chances of winning a state championship. Should we start rationing out how many good players a school can have now? Will that work? 6 of Trinity's starters have been there since elementary school, so I guess they should have kicked some of them out for being good ball players. Good grief, life is not fair! Sometimes a team is just better than you, and you have to stink it up and go on. That's what Trinity did for many years when they were getting smacked around by every team in their district, but they just happened to have a good group of girls come through around the same time, which produced good results. But nobody has a beef with you when you're not winning.
  7. 2008 State Champions: Girls A Basketball: Jackson Co. -Public Girls AA Basketball: Marshall Co. -Public Boys A Basketball: Union City -Public Boys AA Basketball: Fulton -Public Girls A/AA Cross Country: Univ. School of JC -Public Boys A/AA Cross Country: Univ. School of JC -Public Football A: South Pittsburg -Public Football AA: Alcoa -Public Football AAA: David Lipscomb -Private Girls Soccer A/AA: FRA -Private Girls Volleyball A/AA: Greenbrier -Public Girls Golf A/AA: DCA -Private Boys Golf A/AA: David Lipscomb -Private Girls Tennis A/AA: Chatt. Christian -Private Boys Tennis A/AA- Knox. Catholic -Private Publics: 9 Privates: 6 We can assume the Boys Soccer will go to a private since that's all that's left. I would also assume that Track is probably gonna go to a public school in both, which would make it 11-7. So is the goal for no private schools to win anything before people stop complaining. Even in the major sports like Football and Basketball it was 6-1 in favor of publics. P.S. Forrest beat Friendship yesterday so better lower your private winning percentage!
  8. So they weren't counted as HBP's were they? I'm not seeing your point here. I'm not trying to get in a p*ssing match with you here, just saying that it's a "fact" in the official scorebook that she didn't hit 6 batters. But I mean God forbid a pitcher actually hit a batter in softball.... Obviously both pitchers were nervous in such a big first round game, Ivy hit some batters, and I'd venture to say that Rutledge does not usually walk six batters.
  9. They deleted their post from before and edited it. The first post was the one I was replying to; I'm not psychic in anyway nor related to Miss Cleo. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  10. If Forrest puts the pressure on the defense behind Brooke to make the plays, then I think they'll win.
  11. For someone who has the word "fact" in their name, you sure don't know any. Ivy did not hit 3 to 6 people a game; I don't think she's ever hit 6 people. Nevermind, the fact that her sister pitched in three games that weekend out of the 6. I hate when people get on here acting like they know something about softball, and all they can muster up is incompetence and showing the world their ignorance.
  12. I really can't tell you the amount of respect and admiration my family has for the Renfroes. There are just some good people in this world, and they are a few of them. It'll be sad to see my cousin not be able to play with them anymore after this week, but I know for sure that she felt happy and blessed to have been a part of a team with them.
  13. Teams don't necessarily put all their games on here, so no not every team that Trinity beat had losing records. I think that's ridiculous to assume that all AAA teams are better. Some of the established programs out there like Soddy, Beech, etc. are good but so are the Goodpasture's and Trinity's. Also, these teams don't have any control who they have to play to get to state; it's called alignments. Some teams have a harder time getting there than others because of that. LOL softballscout at your comment.
  14. I'm not gonna single out any player, but if you get a chance I'd tell you to watch TCA play. They have a great pitching staff, excellent fielders, and girls who can smack the ball all the way down the line up.
  15. I think it's because they don't have an exact time for the 2nd game to start besides it being 30 minutes after the first one ends. If you'll notice there's only two fields being played on for single A; all four games can not be played at 5.
  16. Cornersville should win the first game, and Friendship should win their game. I think the middle two games should be good games as well. Everyone knows about Rutledge, the Renfroes, and Stinett, but I would definitely keep an eye on Brooke Thomas for Huntingdon. I think the game between Forrest and Huntingdon will be a very good game.
  17. The session starts at 5, but they are the second game which starts 30 minutes after the first game.
  18. I think Whitwell has the better team, but you never know in a one game or go home situation.
  19. Westview has a good team this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see them make some noise at state. How many seniors do they have this year? I know Owens and Belote are, but not sure about the rest of the teams besides the two pitchers.
  20. I really think this year's Single A tournament is going to be pretty stout. You look at the teams left, and a lot of them have a legitimate shot at winning this year. Granted, I hope it's Trinity again, but I know there are a lot of good teams out there.
  21. Yes, keep picking Friendship. Trinity doesn't mind one bit being the underdog! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  22. I hope they don't, but that's because I have family on Trinity's team. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  23. Adamsville has a good team; they made it to state last year with the same players. The girls take what is given them and go on, respecting each opponent along the way. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Everyone plays inspired this time of year!
  24. Trinity and Adamsville are playing today at 4:30.
  25. Yesterday JCS beat Adamsville 2-1 in 8 innings. In the late game, Trinity beat Decatur Co. Riverside, 10-0. Today's schedule: 3:00 Adamsville 2 vs. Decatur Co. Riverside 1 5:00 Trinity 10 vs. JCS 0 Tomorrow's schedule: 3:00 JCS vs. Adamsville 5:00 Trinity vs. JCS/Adamsville winner
