Wow did Lamm have that bad of a game??? I figured he would do better.

It don't matter. I heard from someone at the game that said he was probably out but oh well. In a tie game maybe the coach shouldn't have been risking so much. I think the blame goes to the coach for trying to be too aggressive. But it doesn't matter now does it. This was a surprising game. I didn't give Harpeth a chance but good job. I didn't think he would pitch that well but only giving up three hits is good. Maybe they can make a run in the tourney!

Graduation stunk. It was so boring. The only good thing about it was knowing that I wouldn't have to go back there. I know playing baseball was sooooo much better than graduation. It isn't like they won't graduate. They will still get their diplomas. There isn't anything special about graduation IMO. Just a bunch of people giving boring speeches. Not going to graduation doesn't mean they aren't graduating. I think yall are making too big of a deal out of it. The players are probably enjoying not having to go to graduation!!!!

I think they are making the right choice. I would have loved to have missed my graduation to play baseball. Thats something you can talk about forever. Not many people get to do that. I think it is cool.

If Harpeth throws their ace it could be a close game; however, he threw 5 innings last night, so he may not be on and they may not even throw him. If not I think Milan will run away with this one.

It will be a good game. If he is that good of a pitcher Loretto has one that is pretty good also. Should be a pitcher's duel. Southside has a little advantage playing at home and Loretto has to drive 3 or so hours to get there. Should be a great game!

I have really wanted to see Milan. I hear they have a pretty good team considering they are defending champs. I also want to see J. White pitch! Our high school summer team has a game. I am helping coach plus my brother plays, so I don't know if I am yet.

I would really like to see the game, so I may. I will probably make the decision tomorrow.

I knew the rule about having to pitch 5 innings b/c I saw it happen to a Braves' pitcher once, and they explained why he couldn't get the win. So it is the reliever who pitches the most innings who gets the win??? I wasn't sure about that part of it though. I also knew you have to complete the game to get the save. Even if he would have pitched all the way until the last out and came out with 2 outs. Thanks Pageman for the report. That was a confusing situation.

Yeah, but they should make it a rule in high school. We kinda had something like that happen to us in 2001. We were beating Waverly the whole game. It started raining in like the 4th inning. It started raining really hard in the 5th. Well their coach didn't want the game called. They get home cooking big time. Anyways the umpire didn't call it. Waverly tied it up in the 6th, and the rain slowed up a little. We started the 7th, and the rain was a lot lighter than it had been. We scored one in the top of the seventh to take the lead, and before Waverly came to bat they called the game. Which ended in a tie b/c of the 6th inning. If Waverly would have been winning after 5, I have no doubt the game would have been called.

Well I didn't say he just had a fastball. I said I heard he was unhittable or pretty close to it. Which means he has more pitches. Harpeth can't hit a curveball well because they showed that against Giles. He threw a lot of curevballs that Harpeth couldn't hit, but when they got hits they were fastballs. Sycamore proved they could hit Lamm????? You are wrong there. How did they prove that. How many hits did they have??? 2 I do believe which were both by Doubler. Maybe you should rephrase that to Doubler proved it not Sycamore b/c he was the only one with a hit!!!! And you are also wrong because he didn't pitch against Southside. He pitched Monday night and won.

I don't understand it either. I think it has only been this way since like 2002. It helps teams with only one pitcher. I don't understand why they do it either. Today's game is just for home field advantage Friday. It is kinda like how the district championship doesn't mean too much. Today was for bragging rights.

Actually, Fiser doesn't get the win, Collins does. And you do have to finish a game to get the save. If you don't finish you get a hold, or H. This is a stat that is kept up with, so that setup men have something. The reason Collins gets the win is b/c the starting pitcher must go 5 innings in order to get the win. It doesn't matter if he had a lead or not if he doesn't go 5 innings. I can't remember if the next pitcher has to go until the 5th inning to get the win or if it is just the next pitcher after the starter that gets the win. I am pretty sure all of this is right.

Well I don't think Loretto has much past Lamm. But if Harpeth doesn't have much more than the lefty who pitched Monday night they will get killed. He wasn't very good, but Giles isn't a real good hitting team. If he pitches Friday, then it won't be a close game. I heard Collins was a much better pitcher, so they should have saved him for Friday. I think Loretto has it easier by losing the game than Harpeth. Milan is a great team and their ace, from what I hear is unhittable. He throws in the mid-90s I think, so Harpeth got the raw deal by winning. Even though Southside is still a very good team. But the better matchup will be Loretto-Southside and it should be low scoring.

Are you saying he pitched well enough that it should be considered a save or think he actually got it b/c you must finish the game for the save? I didn't completely understand what you meant by it.

Well they knew the game today didn't matter which probably had something to do with the way they played. Maybe they can get it back together, but they are going to have a long drive on Friday to Jackson. I would assume it is a really long drive. I don't know if there is an easy way but I live at least 2 hours from Loretto and Jackson in another hour and half or so past my house. Could be a travel for Loretto!

Seems like Harpeth cares more about this game than Loretto. I think Harpeth pitched their ace in relief didn't they??? He pitched great. I would have saved him but we will see. It will be tough for both teams on Friday.

What did the Sycamore seniors do that no other team had done before? They didn't win their district and I know Sycamore has made it to regions. So I was just wondering?

Loretto's Lamm is a great pitcher, and has really good stuff. I haven't seen Harpeth's pitcher, so I don't know how good he is. He hasn't pitched in a while, so that could hurt him a little, but we will see. Should be some good games between the teams and will probably all be low scoring.

Harpeth didn't hit too well against Giles County the other night and he wasn't throwing well at all. It should be a good game. Harpeth did play very well defensively but made a lot of mental mistakes when running the bases. It might not be a low scoring game but prob will cause not too many teams are scoring right now. The only problem is that in sectionals both teams will have to play an extremely good team in either Milan or Southside. I dont see Loretto or Harpeth going to state but thats just my opinion.

Lamm seems to struggle at the beginning of games. When I saw him pitch against Fairview he gave up 2 or 3 in the first but got much better as the game went along.

They didn't hit well but they didn't swing at bad pitches. They just couldn't get a hit. But they should've had more runs but they did a horrible job of running the bases!

Pierce which I don't understand why they didn't start Petty. Pierce isn't a dominating pitcher, and his attitude is horrible. When it was 2-1 he was acting like it was over and it was 10-1 or something. I wondered why they didn't pitch Petty but oh well! And the first base ump blew like 5 calls. He was horrible!

If Loretto throws Lamm on Wednesday then they are stupid. Harpeth didn't hit well tonight and if Loretto doesn't save Lamm for Fri. when they have a chance for state then that would be a bad move... We will see!
