  1. benchcoach- I'm sorry its just every time I read your post you say something that is just so off the wall. YOu say Hess is the worst bench coach White CO. has ever seen and his sub patterns are a joke, i agree some are questionable but he is getting it done isn't he. YOu wanna talk about some terrible bench coaching and bad sub patterns lets go to the boys board and talk for a while about the guys team!!! By the way the worst coach in Tn is what now....8-1? 9-1? Not bad for a complete idiot! Congrads Coach Hess.
  2. benchcoach- Yeah I will ask Jolly what he thinks about Holland next time I see him and let you know what he says. Its like someone else said, it should have never came down to free throws when Jolly was there. I think Holland was a bad coach your exactly right. Holland never won a state championship, a good coach would have one at least one with all the talent he had. Would you please tell me if he was the Coach of the team that was #1 in the nation. I'm just wondering who it was that lost that one. Your information you are giving is terrible though. YOu said that team with Mitchell overachieved and didn't have any better than average talent. First off Hollands teams never overachieved only underachieved. I know of 6 girls on that team that played college basketball. All five of the starters went on to play college ball. YOu want me to tell you were they went so you don't get on here and say they didn't. Pg Sims- David Lipscomb Wing Taylor- Cumberland University Wing Foster- Hannibal Lagrange (nationally ranked right now I think for NAIA) post Mitchell- Belmont University (scored over a 1,000 there) post England- Roane State Community College (not the best but college ball) lets not forget Leslie Golden who was on that team also at Trevecca now averaging around 13 or 14 off the bench for a nationally ranked team. That team was ranked #1 all year long. Yeah no talent on that squad at all was there. YOu are partially right though, that was probably the least amount of talent that Holland had the whole time he was there. By the way Brittany King will not play college ball I seriously doubt......she is a great player and I love watching her play but at 5'8'' (at best) and not quick it will be hard to play college ball. She is not playing her best sport thought either. Why do you say HEss would have ran off all the talent if he was here earlier. Its funny to me that no one has quit the team in 2 years. I guess he finally got some girls that were willing to sacrafice for the cause. Its to bad those other girls wouldn't do it. So judging from what you said that Lewis, Sunday, Hacker, and King would be the only ones to play college for us, right? Then that would put us with obviously a lot LESS talent than Holland EVER had. More of our girls will play college ball right now then you think though. I thought you could see talent better than that. There is no way you are going to convince me that Holland didn't have enough talent to win it, and that Hess has more than Holland, cause both of those statements are ridiculous. Oh and to whoever said Amanda Lewis will not play college ball, you are wrong. YOu remember Leslie Golden don't you.......same size and having great success as will Amanda. 3. Benchcoach- One more quick thing. YOu said taht Talent overcame our coaching again. YOu said he took two starters out at the beginning of the 4th. Which two did not start the 4th quarter? THen you say how long can he keep Hacker out? THis confuses me cause Hacker isn't a starter. So you complain that we pulled our starters, then you complain that we are not using our bench enough? I tell you what Hess is thinking.....WIN WIN WIN! YOu can call his decisions stupid or whatever you want but his record is doing his talking for him.........so is Slatten's by the way.
  4. Bigdaddyt- That game might as well had been an away game for the Warriorettes. They didn't get a call the second half the fouls were 9-1 at one point i believe with sparta having 9. Sparta also really had no crowd to speak of, Jackson. CO. had as many people there for them as sparta did almost. Only advantage for sparta was they were used to the floor and the baskets. Would be fun to watch on a neutral floor though. Benchcoach- He used Hacker exactly how he should. Who would you start her over on our team anyway? She is a great player but excells right now on pure athleticism and strength. Her decision making needs to get better and will, that includes shot decision, passes, and everything. She also needs to work on her ball handling with her left. She has been playing great basketball though this season and if she can stay healthy and rededicate herself to the game her future is as bright as anyones. Oh yeah and some people seem to think that we were the less talented team in that game? What do you think and if we were does that mean we actually had a well coached game? WOuldn't be the first one, but the first one that you acknowledge. Pinkpanther- Well you already admitted our post game was better. I thought our guard play was just as good as jackson co. I mean what was the difference in the guards? Jackson Co. had some shooters and so did we. The only advantage i might give them is at the point because of her size. Other than that I thought our guard play was better overrall. They need to get the ball in the post more to Sunday, Farley, King, etc. but other than that they played a good game and that is with Anderson not scoring a point (i think). Jackson Co. was in bonus in like the 3rd quarter or beginning of the 4th and White Co. wasn't until overtime. Looks like White Co. overcame and won. Jackson is a great team with a lot of talent.
  5. Another loss to a team that the Warriors were more talented then. I don't want to hear people say there is not enough talent to win some games because who could have won a lot of the ones he had scheduled this early part of the season.
  6. I didn't really wanna say it like that but I'm glad someone did!!!!
  7. Jackson Co. clearly had the better team? Thats a funny statement to make right after they just lost the game. I don't know why you would really think that. I'm going to say White Co. had the better team. Jackson Co. had a great team with some great players. Some players really stepped up for White Co. tonight, that was good to see.
  8. I'm sorry but this is killing me, did you move out of sparta in the 90's? They were one of the most dominant programs in the state of Tn being one of the top 3 teams in the state like 5 or 6 years in a row. They were usually #1 in the state at some point in the season in those 5 or 6 years. They did this with no transfers to my knowledge. Which means they had a ton of talented players sitting on that bench for years if they didn't then they couldn't have maintained that level of play over that long of a time period. Holland may not of used his bench but the talent was on it cause it kept coming year after year.
  9. All those people were not against Slatten before he got here. All those people were mad at Haley for the decision he made. Every player except for one stayed and gave Slatten his chance before they quit. Only one quit before he got there. Then Slatten (or somebody) managed to run off the rest of them. The community was not real excited about him being hired, but I mean can you blame them he was like 3 and 22 the year before he got here. I dont' know how that matters that much anyway, the community doesn't play the players do and he had his chance with them. Besides the community didn't really get down on him till he had all those players quit. Till then they were just all very sceptical of Haley's decision. You say Hess was verbally abusive? Please I didn't see any court cases against him, seems like the players must not have been able to handle the transition from coaches that never yelled to one that did. So yeah Slattens first 2 years were not very different from coach Hess's. Point is your biggest knock on Hess is that he ran off all those girls right? Slatten did the exact same thing!!!! Your crazy Whited didn't go to middle school games all the time. He usually made one to two games a year at best. Hess has snowed me? How do you figure that one? Haley might very much welcome talking to coach Hess but would he listen to anything Hess tried to tell him bout basketball, I really do doubt it. Hess doesn't have me snowed because that is just what I hear from parents and former players about Haley. First you said the boys were improving every game, now you say they have improved since summer camp. Those are completley different statements. I would sure hope they have improved since summer camp seeing as how you go into summer camp with like one week of practice. Did all the football playes play at summer camps? Just curious cause that would make a big difference. YOu are really goinng to argue that Hess has more talent that Holland had? Holland had no bench you said? He had one team that had 7 girls play division 1 basketball. That is amazing. This team has a ton of talent but a lot of it is very young. Look at the best player on this years team, Natalee Anderson. Where will she play college ball? I wish she would play D1 but I would be called crazy by a ton of people if I said she was going to. Holland had Jolly who signed with the best college program in the nation and won 3 national titles. It doesn't matter though cause no one can sit back and watch their talent and be successful. Wasn't it early in Hollands coaching career when the girls were ranked #1 in the nation? YOu think this team could be #1 in the nation? Don't get me wrong all kinds of talent on that team and at every position but not quit #1 in the nation.
  10. I don't know if I would say they have answered the call quit yet cause I don't believe any of them are close to their potential, but there is a very talented group of sophmores at White Co. A few of them have stepped up and looked really good at times. They got 4 sophmores that with the right work ethic and with experience will play good college ball in the future. Kendall Agee Keela (sp?) Henry Alison Cole Hannah Hacker very talented (not to mention tall) group of girls
  11. I really wish you would listen to yourself more often. Like the other day how you said on the boys board that it is stupid to blame a coach for every loss. That is what you do though to Hess though. THen you get on here and say you can't support Hess cause of the way he destroyed the program the first 2 years. Tell me the difference between his first 2 years and Slattens first 2 years? Very, Very little I know that. Players quit, lost a lot of games, and had some bad stuff said bout them. So if you can not support Hess because of what he did the first 2 years, then you can not possibly support Slatten could you? I mean look at your own words in your post. YOu sit and contradict yourself over and over. Hess doesn't have the talent to sit back and watch them win every game. He can do that very few games actually, now back in hollands day he could do that. The boys are improving every game? I really hope they are buy please post on the boys board telling me what improvments you see. Heck best game I saw them play was their 2nd or 3rd one. Last and least, should Hess support middle school and Haley. Yes he should, but we all know that Haley isn't going to listen to anyone but himself. So what if Hess isn't at all the middle school games or any for that matter. I know a guy who used to coach and he never went to the middle school games, low and behold he won two state championships with those kids he never went and watched. It only helps to support the middle school when that coach is willing to work with the high school coach to better that program. YOu think Haley would be open to any suggestions from Hess or anything for that matter? I didn't either. benchcoach- Please tell me the difference between Slattens first 2 years and Hess's first 2 years? Don't avoid this one either like you usually do. I mean he ran off every person from the years previous team last year except for Sam. Is that not destruction too? I mean if what Hess did was that has to be also bottome line.
  12. If you would go back and read this entire thread maybe you would be as confused as me. Cause I do not see where anyone was calling out anyone or trying to hook it up or whatever you may call it.
  13. I agree with most of the points you made. Just judging from your previous post it seemed like you didn't think slatten should have any fault for any game. I agree at some point the players have to step up and play, you are exactly right. I just thought you were saying it was all the players fault and no one elses. The players have to do their job and so does the coach. You brought up a point I'd like to hit on real quick though. You said maybe Slatten didn't have the right players in at the end of the game. I can't speak about the livingston game I wasn't there, and I haven't been there at the end of a lot of the guys games. However, I was at the end of the Tullahoma game (which they won) and I thought Slatten had a lot of questionable substitutions late in the game. I remember a point in the last minute or so (the other team was pressing frantically trying to catch up) and Slatten has Jarvis Williams, Seth England, Adam Drake, B.A., and Ryan Qualls all in the game at the same time. Just didn't seem like a line up you would want on the floor to handle the ball and shoot free throws. Not to mention the Warriors caught a technical in the last minute or so, I can't remember what that was for though for sure. I think it was cause Qualls was on the floor and shouldn't have been or something. It wasn't Slattens fault, but you can't offord your players making mistakes that elementary late in a game like that. I don't know though that is just one game like I said, but I just thought I would let you see where I'm coming from on some of my opinions. I think its more of the little stuff like that, game time decisions that has hurt Slatten and the Warriors. Like you said preparation wise they must not be to bad cause they have been in a lot of ball games but lost them. You going to be at the games this weekend though pinkpanther? Should be interesting to see what adjustments are made if any for the next few weeks to try and get this thing turned around.
  14. Man, I'm glad I've already got more supporters than Slatten (joke). First of all I try to keep from bashing Slatten and if I have actually bashed him then I'm sorry. However, all I've done is argue that Slatten is not getting the most out of what he has. If that is bashing then could someone please tell me what the message boards are for again. I think they could have won more games than they have considering who they have played. Maybe I'm alone on that one. Just my opinion though. If I was bashing Slatten I would constantly talk about how bad he must be, and how I heard he did this and that. I just get on here and say that I don't think he is doing as good a job as could be done right now. I hope he turns it around though, and I really mean that. I want to see the best for those boys, and for White Co. (that includes Slatten..
  15. Pinkpanther- You said that if Slatten got fired it would not be at all his fault. That is not your exact statement but that is what you said. YOu said because he had no talent, no support, and no something else I don't know. I bet that is what coaches wish they could blame it on. You said the boys have to take responsibility at some point. You are right, but so does the coach doesn't he? I mean we are not talking about one game, look at the record so far this season. They have lost a lot of games to teams that they were just as talented as such as Livingston twice, Upperman,(thats 3 they could have had for sure) and even the cookeville and crossville games the boys were not outmatched by much in talent. Can you blame all those lost games on the players? I mean every one of them is all the players right? When a team is equal in talent against teams and still looses then there is a big problem and I would think the roots of it is at the coach. I don't blame Slatten for every loss and this last one may not have been his fault (i had to leave at halftime). I'm just looking at the season to this point. Benchcoach- I can't believe you even said what you said in your post. That's irony for you isn't it. Your right you can't blame a coach for every loss.......remember that. 16. Ok, i'm a little confused on your system you go by. Since you go by who lost to who by how much, and who beat who by how much tell me this. Since Cookeville took Jackson Co. to overtime does that make Jackson Co. just a decent team like cookeville, or does that make Cookeville a good team like Jackson Co.? If it makes cookeville a good team like jackson co. then wouldn't that make Livingston a good team? If it makes Jackson decent like Cookeville, does that mean shelbyville is only decent since they only beat jackson by like 4 at the beginning of the year? Point is you can't sit there and tell which team is good and which isn't by taking their point spread each game. If our coach is as awful as you say then we should have been beat the other night against livingston that is the bottom line. So you need to give him some credit. You stay behind your boy Slatten even when he is loosing, but you hate Hess even when he is winning. Go figure........
  17. I'm fine thanks. I said that the way smith101 gave his information it sounded like he was assuming. I'd say a lot of people probably thought the same way I did, or maybe I'm just loosing touch or something. Either way, the entire post did sound like a bitter one did it not? I apologize though for the post smith101. So if its not a district game you shouldn't be competitive? The sparta/jackson co. game should be a another good test for the Warriorettes.
  18. smith101- I'm glad someone finally got on here and gave an injury report on livingston 4 days after the game. You sound like you might know what you are talking about with Beechboard. However, your story with thompson sounds a little off perhaps. Just cause you said "there had to be something wrong with her", which implies that you don't know you are just assuming. Sounds like you are bitter. Jackson Co. against White Co. should be a really good game against two really good teams. Can't wait to watch it.
  19. A good win over a decent team? I will assume that cookeville is just a decent team too then. Even though I thought you were calling them a good team. Livingston is more than a decent team I would say. I mean I"m sure benchcoach would say they had a better coach. They had one of the best players in the uppercumberland from what a lot of people say in Beechboard. The point guard (thompson) doesn't she play on a Nike team or something in the summer? I guess its just a decent win over a decent team with a decent coach. Benchcoach, I bet you thought we would get beat though didn't you? Now that we won though you act like we should have all along. I mean I thought we were going to win the whole time too. Its just you never give us a chance because of our "poor coaching" and when they do win you refuse to give any of the credit to Coach Hess, there is a shocker. Thats alright cause I'm sure he gives all the credit to the girls too. Good thing we got lucky and had our talent pull us through, hope our talent continues to carry us the rest of the year (sarcasm).
  20. Where are you at benchcoach. I know you are reading this thread and would bet you were at the game sat. night. I want to hear your thoughts on this one. How bad was coach Hess and the girls the other night in their win?
  21. It was a good win against a good team for the girls. I've been saying for 2 years that Anderson is a great ball player. I hope she starts getting the recognition she deserves. Usually is the best player on the floor no matter who they are playing. Sparta controlled the game and lead most of the time against a livingston team with a great coach and good players.
  22. ktown- I agree. The boys are playing hard every game that is true, but they should be playing hard. That should be expected. It would be nice to have something else to say after the game besides that. I think the guys were more than capable of beating livingston both times they have played them this year. They are hurting themselves by not winning these games like livingston, upperman, and york. I think they were as talented as crossville and cookeville too, but they haven't won any of these games. They should be beating these teams and building confidence for the district. They should have won a lot more games at this point than they have. 1-6 they have enough talent to be winning a lot more than they are, some adjustments need to be made somewhere.
  23. Layup- You really think you know me and you think I cover the high school teams? I hope you do think that. You can play dumb though and act like Whited quit on his team that is fine. Everyone who reads this thread will know how it really was so you can be dumb to the facts. I gotta question too. You say the coaches at White Co. have made the best of what they have? I don't understand why the team has lost to teams like livingston twice, york, and upperman. I guess I could see loosing to crossville a little more but we were just as talented as them and cookeville also. I think this team has missed out on a lot of wins they should have gotten early this season. I don't think they have done their best. Pinkpanther- I'm not sure of Slatten's overall record at cleveland. He never took a cleveland team to the state tournament though. To the sub-state his first year and I don't know if he ever got back to the sub state or not.
  24. Warriorettemom- You are exactly right about that. However, Benchcoach was refering to the 9th grade team about 6 years ago. That was Hollands last year as the varsity head coach and Haile was still the freshman coach. Back then the ninth grade girls didn't practice with the varsity and didn't put in the time the varsity did, like they do now.
  25. Layup- You still don't know who I am. Believe me I know what i'm talking about better than you do. Get it right one time though, Whited didn't quit. He didn't decide after the riverdale game that he was quiting. He had decided prior to that game that it was going to be his last season. He didn't plan to tell the players. After the team played so poor he told them. I already explained why he told them. He was not the entire reason that team finished the way it did. I'm honest, he could have done some things better but he was the main reason for that 6-8 mark. If you call that quiting, then you obviously don't know what you are talking about. Ruppsrunt- "Sometimes the mark of a winner is to stay and coach a team he thinks can't win....... and develope them. Good point layup." After Jolly, Gribble, and Austin graduated White County was left for dead. They were 4 and 5 in every pre-season district poll. Everyone said they were going to be terrible. After they won 25 games I think everyone was saying that they were talented then. Even though having no one average over 11 points a game and 7 players score from 7-11 points a game. So according to your old chinese proverd I guess you could say Whited was a winner.
