  1. Although I don't agree with Dr. McIntyres decision not allowing Knox Co schools play yesterday he doesn't have control of the weather. In making his decision he must take in consideration the safety and well being of student athletes, coaches, fans etc. Also he must consider the likelihood of litigation in the event of injury of visitors to schools, transporting teams etc. By the way are Knox Co Schools allowed to practice? We really don't know. This no doubt is a highly unusual situation in which the T$$AA must come up with a plan that will allow for an equitable solution for all teams involved. With that being said. Knox Schools should of and could have played girls games. Superintendent screwed up. But today's games for boys games would not have been played. So what would have been gained. The key is what will the T$$AA do. They have a real problem and if games aren't played I don't see any fair resolution.
  2. Both Coaches should be ban from coaching any T$$AA sanctioned sport. School systems should fire head coaches from coaching. Nothing is worse than throwing an athletic contest. Agree what was done but not enough was done to coaches.
  3. Agree. But take note. The only tournament games in the area that were played Friday night were played at a private school. Has nothing to do with T$$AA heck they want the money. More to do with public school politics. I am pissed that I didn't get to walk Over and watch District 3 AAA finals at Central. Back to games. Who wins and moves on. Heritage vs Halls. Halls is dangerous. Bearden vs Central. Can my Bobcats keep it close Karns vs Maryville. Don't know bout this one. Karns at home great opportunity to advance. Oak Ridge vs LC. No contest.
  4. I think district 4 AA will have a big advantage because they played on Friday. 3 AA hasn't played in 10 days. May not have even got to practice much. Take Carter and Gatlinburg. Both are in rural areas. It is questionable whether they have been able to get a full team in the gym due to bad roads.
  5. Be first to point finger at T$$AA. But in this case they couldn't control weather. This is a terrible situation for all concerned. But it happens. Quit complaining and win the Region.
  6. Q sounding a little like uptempo. Lol. Isn't Luke Smith out for the season. Thought a major player had a broken hand. Based on schedule I saw region champ will have to win three games in a roll on three consecutive nights. Tough task.
  7. District finals didn't happen for most districts in this area. CAK catholic may have been the only district finals played. Certainly unusual circumstances. Today wasn't a safe option either. Only games scheduled for today have now been canceled. Best advice for all teams is one game at a time. 4 teams teams have a realistic chance to win it. 2 others have an outside chance.
  8. Agree CAK will take care of AE. Not so sure bout Catholic over GP. Looking at schedules I found that AE beat Catholic twice. GP beat AE twice. Based on that I would say GP is the favorite. Carter beat Alcoa by 20+ a couple of weeks ago. Game will be closer. But Carter with two D I players who can score 50 they should win. But as in all region games it won't be easy Based on records Fulton should beat Kingston. But I predict Kingston will challenge the Falcons and margin will be less than 10. Semis Carter rolls over CAK. Best team in town. And rember only lost to Fulton due to their generous spirit. Won't be in giving mood vs CAK Fulton and GP. This is a pick em. Fulton will over look GP looking to avenage their moral defeat to Carter earlier in the year. Fulton wins but don't be surprise if GP pulls off a shocker. Finals. No doubt Carter. Only lost Fulton because of injuries and a gift. By far best team in Region. This game will be decided by half time. Carter will score 100+ and gift Fulton 75.
  9. Dark horse imo may be Alcoa. Saw them early thought talent was good. AE has beaten Catholic twice so they could cause problems. Barring upsets in this order Carter/CAK best teams with Fulton having outside shot.
  10. What will happen if district championship and consolation games get postponed today. With region starting Monday. Would games be played on Sunday?
  11. These teams are having long lay offs. Can any of them get to the gym and practice.
  12. Carter over Fulton. Too much Bowen and Jackson. Best two players in town. CAK? Maybe. Maybe Catholic. Toss up. Catholic cause they are on the home floor. With games postponed, school out, bad roads. Does any of the teams get to gym for practice.
  13. Agree. The two big West Knoxville schools(Farragut and Hardin Valley) have grossly underachieved. To many boys in the building not to build a competitive program. Here is the question. Name me three up and coming young coaches that have build a solid competitive team where they are now. Without good candidates can't make coaching changes.
  14. I am pretty confident in my sources and would be very surprised if Carter isn't replacing their basketball Coach in 2015. Boydstone has done a nice job by refining the talent Tony bull had developed and took his lumps with his last two years at Carter. Now that talent will be gone with a very weak underclass. I heard both freshman and JV teams were well under 500 and don't have the talent to run the system. Middle school program is also weak as well. Baring any major transfers. Carter is facing lean times in b ball and in my opinion they will be doing so with a new head coach.
  15. Did Carter Give the game away or did Fulton take it. Say it was a little of both. Carter's style of play allows them to score in bunches but also allows teams opportunities to come back. Carter should beat Fulton. They have more talent period. Two 6'5" studs who can score 50 on any given night. According to News Sentinel both are big time College talent. Other three starters are as good as 4 of Fultons first 5. Ken Williams only starter for Fulton who would start for Carter. Carter has two problems. Lack of quality depth and weak schedule that in my opinion hasn't prepared them for tough games. All said and done Carter by 6. Only if they have a 20 pt lead going into the fourth qt.
  16. Agree with Hardin Valley. Golden opportunity to build a program and has failed miserably. Coach at Carter has a History of moving around. Seldom stays anywhere very long. Also as stated talent level will be at an all time low next couple of years. Alcoa is experiencing one of their worst seasons in recent history. Folks in Alcoa can't be happy.
  17. Talking to former and current coaches at District 3 AAA tournament last night. Speculation that these jobs may be open. Halls, Carter (99.9% done deal), Campbell Co, Alcoa, West.
  18. Central advances to Region since forever. Wow. They looked pretty good. Can they challenge OR. Why is Alcoa so bad. I heard over and over that talent is young. But so is OR. Major upset in District 4 AAA. With Heritage over Maryville. Or was it such an upset. Heritage beat Bearden earlier in year. AE continues to impress. Read in paper today they had a player score 31 last night. This sets up another epic battle between AE and Fulton tonight. An AE win would not surprise me. District 4 AA seems to hold form with CAK and Catholic in finals.
  19. Agree on AE. Looking at schedule Fulton only beat them by 1. Last time they played. I know GP and Carter Are pulling fo AE. Also Carter better not overlook GP.
  20. District Tournament Champions. District 3 AAA. Oak Ridge with ease. Central looked good last night. Can they make some noise. Going with Karns Central and CAMPBELL co to advance to region. District 3 AA. Article in paper today referenced Carter having beat two players in Knoxville area. So I pick them to beat Fulton in championship game AE is dangerous and playing well. Will take care of GP for third place. District 4 AAA. Maryvile is my pick cause they are playing at home. Bearden runner up. Heritage and West battle it out for 3 and 4. District 4 AA. Catholic and CAK in championship game. Alcoa and Scott for 3 and 4. Order of finish CAK Catholic Scott Alcoa.
  21. Tournament time is here. Glad District 3AAA is at CHS. Be able to watch the games. 3 AAA. Oak Ridge will win title without a challenge. Pick Karns as 2. 3 and 4 is a pick em. 4 AAA. Bearden and Maryvile in championship game. West is the wildcard could pull an upset. Heritage beat Bearden but hasn't done much since. 3 AA Carter has the most talented starting 5. Do they have the depth. Has their schedule prepared them for a deep tournament run. Fulton best in regular season. Athletic and have at least one really good player. Can they avoid a meltdown like last year. GP capable of pulling up set in early rounds. AE coming on strong beat a very good Catholic team. 4 AA. Catholic and CAK very good. Both well coached and talented. Will injury to ptg start to have a greater affect. Loss to AE may be an indication it has. CAK CAMPBELL is best player in district and they are well coached. Alcoa is a team to watch. Could pull off an upset. Rest of district weak.
  22. Give you White County. Put that in category of blind hog. Plus white co played short handed. Livingston good over all record vs mediocre schedule. 22-6. But second in district. Not ranked in top 10. Lebanon 16-8 overall and 5 th in district. Also not ranked in top 10. Carter is good but not among the elite in E Tn.
  23. Top Ten knoxville Area. Based on recent results, overall record, and schedule. OR: have great players all can score double digits. Carholic: great depth. Physical players. Better team with their best player hurt. Maryville: Beat #1 AAA team in state. Then drops one to Catholic. The deepest most talented team in the state. Bearden: great record two good wins vs Jeff co and Maryville. 7 wins vs avg AA and A teams. Jeff Co. Good record. DB beat them last night. Only scored 37? CAK: good coach. CAMPBELL is really good. Fulton: one man show. Stop him they can't score? How have they won 18 in a row. Carter greatest show on earth. Know quality wins but they sure beat up on weak teams. West: watch for them in the post season. Webb I guess can't think of anyone else.
  24. Think most teams have that one guy if you shut him down you have a good chance to win. Smith at catholic Higgins at OR CAMPBELL at CAK Bowden at Carter so on. Best teams around town in AA in my opinion. 1 Catholic 2 CAK 3 Fulton 4 Carter 5 Alcoa. Most likely team to pull off an upset. Young and athletic. Best AAA 1 Jeff Co 2 OR 3 Maryville 4 Bearden 5 West. Could upset someone early in District tournament. Watch out Bearden
  25. Looks like Carter lost again to a quality. Big numbers vs weak teams. Can't seem to come thru against good teams. Think the final was 96-72? Was Carter at full strength. Bearden ranked #1 in Triple A. Two good wins vs Jeff co and Maryville bad loss against Heritage. 7 wins against A and AA teams. Big game vs Maryville coming up. Oak ridge keeps on rolling. No challenges for them til region. CAK and Catholic still seem to be heading for a big Game. Best in their district. Fulton not dominate but seem to find a way to win. Ranked 5 in the state. Not sure they are best AA team in knoxville.
