  1. Lets see both teams are 6-4 and lost their last game, so I am not sure that either of the teams are performing like they had hoped come playoff time. Sounds like someone has forgotten the two shutouts and the six point and three point performances since you only want to bust DeKalbs bubble. Haven't got to see Greenbriar this year, but they have alway been a competitive team and played in the same tough region as DeKalb until this year. DeKalb's offense has alot of weapons and can produce points but the defense is about as consistant as the weather. Everyone knows DeKalb's weakness is stopping a big physical run. Good Luck to both teams, lets hope for good weather and an injury free game for both teams. Can anyone give some information on Greenbriar.
  2. Congratulations to Livingston on the win. They played just like I thought they would, physical. DeKalb has nothing to hang their head about. Given the sucess of the last two seasons compared to the last 20 years or so. I was really hoping DeKalb could pull a win out and get a home playoff game. DeKalb runs a style of offensive that can be competitive for years to come, but the defense has got to get better. When DeKalb plays a physical running team they come out on the short end of the stick. Whenever this season comes to an end the DeKalb coaches need to take next years defensive guys and start weight training immediately. DeKalb's defense has to get stronger and more physical even if they have to feed them gunpowder and nails.
  3. With a tarp on the field and looking at the weather I think Thursday night is the best night to play this weekend. I don't think either team has a problem playing in the mud, but rain hurts your gate and your attendance on Senior night. Except for the one comment about Poteete, (which seemed a little hazy) I haven't heard anyone say what his real condition is. Does anyone know if he practiced this week. He is definitely the variable in this game.
  4. The biggest question. Is Poteete going to play, and if he does what percent is he? He went out in the first quarter of the Upperman game, and I haven't seen or heard an update on him. I would say DeKalb keeps this game in Smithville. It is senior night and with this game being so big, I would think you keep it at home. There has been several days of sun and that field hasn't been played on in weeks, but it is suppose to rain Tuesday.
  5. I know a great way to determine the best in the state. You take all the state champions and play a single elimination tournament and have a overall Tennessee State Champion.
  6. Seems like both sides are being quiet regarding this game. I haven't seen Livingston this year but that Hog Eye bunch are always a tough team regardless of their record. This game has big region and playoff implications. Has anyone got an injury status on Poteete. Who do you think will come out on top in Smithville.
  7. Tonights game was a great one, and showed that the west has a strong contender for the gold ball over the next few years. #44 is a stud and should produce big numbers next season. I bet some scouts were writing his name down. #66 on the line was a hoss to. Jo Byrns seemed to have a good game plan, but seemed to be a little weak on the corners when Trousdale ran the ball to the outside and turnovers will kill you against a good team. #5 for Trousdale I heard is a junior and if so will be hard to handle next season. What kind of attention is the kicker for Trousdale getting. I heard Carson Newman, and Georgia Southern. He connected from the 40 yard line at half time and it probably would have been good from the 45. He looks like he could kick for a big D1 school. Does anyone have any information on him?

  9. On paper White House has the advantage, but as we all know games are not played on paper. DeKalb's defense really stepped up last night, and will need a repeat preformance. I am pulling for the Tigers, but they will need to come out and play four quarters of almost flawless football, and it wouldn't hurt for White House to maybe be looking ahead to round three and not be as sharp, but im sure a good disciplined playoff experienced team like White House is taking it one game at a time. The Tigers have so much to be proud of this year and anything else is icing on an already great cake. Any team can win on any given day its just comes down to who wants it more. GO TIGERS!!!
  10. DeKalb 28 McMinn Central 14 Final. Listened to it on the radio, sounded like DeKalb's defense really showed up only allowing 7 points. The other was off a kickoff returned for a TD. DeKalb's offense was solid with just a couple mistakes. Also seemed like some nasty playing with #7 from McMinn getting sent to the locker room early.
  11. DeKalb won 25-14. This is the first time in seven years that DeKalb has started the season 1-0. Celina had some costly turnovers in the game, but DeKalb did play pretty good. DeKalb has some pretty good runners on there team, but there youth did come out on some costly penalties. One TD was called back for holding, and another big run was called back for a penalty. Celina has some good speed on there team, but just couldn't hold onto the ball.
  12. I hate to spoil your celebration but you did play Watertown. Good luck to Smith and G-Ville next week. Someone has to lose, but hopefully nether team will suffer any injuries.
  13. Quennie, After reading all of the post of late, I thought you were disliked more than the Dixie Chicks. I believe I have seen you before when your beloved owls plays against DeKalb. Here is a big huge () for you.
  14. I am not for sure about what positions Kristen may have played when she was youger, but the Warren girl played SS for quite few years when she was younger.
  15. Hey, Ya'll remember that post about the Trousdale- Smith Co game that went to crap. Can we get back to talking about football, and not who can interpet or post the best remark to someone's educated or uneducated post. About the game, I think that Smith Co. will come into the game more prepared for the TC run attack. It will be a close one, with the winning margin less than 13. Good luck to both teams.
  16. This was an instant classic. SP brought half the town with them it seemed like. G-Ville had the milk jugs going like crazy. The rain made the game just that much better. The SP fans that I talked to from the parking lot to the field were great people, and I hope all of ya'll made it back home safe. I would have paid double the price of admission for this game.
  17. I was just thinking with the amount of threads on CoachT, and how many replys each thread gets during the day. There must be a lot of people that get on CoachT at work. I must confess, I am one of those.
  18. When I left to go to work this morning it was raining pretty good. It has rained enough to make the field a mud pit, as I am sure everyone can guess. G-Ville keeps there field in the best shape possible, but it will still muddy. I am gettting very excited about watching this game, especially with the good ol rainy, cold weather. SP, I hope ya'll have a safe trip today.
  19. I know this Scooby, but they are playing 3A ball, and that makes them a 3A team. Kinda of like when TC moved up from 1A they could have been a 2A team, but they are not, they are a 3A team. Anyways kinda of like an earlier post, this will not happen for another 30 years, so we can just enjoy the rivalry for now. Good luck to both teams tonight.
  20. I understand, and agree that both schools currently have great coaches, but both couldn't be head coaches if the schools combined. Also Scooby, Smith Co. is a 3A school, which leads me to wonder how much you really know about either school. I myself love the rivalry that occurs in this small county.
  21. I have wondered for many years what kind of football team Smith County would have if the schools were combined. Would the school be a 4A or 5A school. Can you say instant powerhouse. I have always heard that Coach Rankin would come back to Smith County if the schools were ever combined. Queenie, Any word on that.
  22. I think that the last two post have the two schools in Smith confused. I don't live in Smith, but close enough. Queenie, Can you send some of that Smith County connection over the river to G-Ville on Fri. night, because I would like to see both off them in round three.
  23. I am starting to get real excited about this game. G-ville came out and played flat against Cascade, and it showed with them receiving a lost. SP beat G-ville last year, and even though SP will be prepared for G-ville i think the win from last year could play a factor in the minds of South Pitt. Hence, South Pitt could be, not really overlooking G-ville, but not thinking they are that tough. What does everyone think of the weather for the game. High of 53, Low of 33, with PM showers.
  24. Boyd will win this one hands down. I am pulling for FC, but Boyd will win. One thing to remember FC was the second best team in a weak region.
