  1. People have different feelings, yes... but that is like saying "Some people like to practice and some don't" that too is a difference of opinion, but it seperates losers from champions, as does what we are talking about. Having a strong mental approach to the game seperates the losers from the champions. A loss is a loss. Losing by one run in a good game hurts, but losing bad, well that eats away at you and makes you question things. Just a thought.
  2. Are you nuts? Or just not like to compete? No good athlete is going to tell you they would rather lose 5-1 than 1-0... at least if you lose 1-0 you know that your defense or pitcher only made one bg mistake instead of enough to let them score 5 runs. If you are playing a team that is not as good as your team would you rather lose 5-1? that would make you look real bad, trust me, i have been there. Losing close games is part of the game, and thats how fastpitch is supposed to be played. That's the game.
  3. Praying might be a thought for CA. I am just kidding, but the chances of one hitter beating Goodpasture is slim to none, trust me. But I want to say good luck to GHS through the rest of the season, since my team is out (tear ) I am for Goodpasture. They have very good players and very good coaches and it would be interesting to have 2 people on this team with 2 state rings. Good Luck Goodpasture and congratulations on graduation to all the seniors.
  4. If (or when, whatever you want to say, I am in no place to make that call) Ezell goes to state you better get every game on video so the kid who couldn't take you there last year can see the games b/c I won't ne home in time, I will be workin on getting to the College World Series. Also, I want to thank Amanda Bagwell's (Goodpasture) dad for coming out to Clarksville today and supporting us against Austin Peay, it was GREAT to see a familiar face, even if it was odd to have him cheering for me. haha. I really appreciate the support and I am just sorry I didn't perform better, but that's the way it goes, and for now, there is always tomorrow.
  5. Ezell doesn't have to beat Goodpasture to go to state. They are in the same district and region, so they can't play each other in sub-state.... They can both go.
  6. I haven't seen any high school teams play this year, so all I know is what I read and what I am told over the phone, and from what I have heard and read, Ezell is a better team than last year. And that is not easy for me to say b/c they are only missing one person from last year and I would like to think that person helped, but whatever. I don't know about having the best team they have had in the past 2 years b/c the 2003 season we had a strong team, just lacked experience. But quality wins, let's see, a tie with a program as atrong as Father Ryan early in the season for a young team is quality. A win over a program like Brentwood Academy is quality. Good luck this season Ezell, I am proud to be a Lady Eagle.
  7. Don Freudenthal at Ezell Lee Phillips at Goodpasture I know I am a little biast b/c I played for one of them, but he is one of the greatest men I have ever known and he taught me so much not only about softball but about pride and things that I will take with me forever. Coach Phillips is just awesome, he is such a classy guy, and always so nice. He is one of those coaches that you would do anything for. I know all of my friends who play for him have a lot of love and respect for him and all he does for them.
  8. I have played against Valen for years and I have friends that are really close with Valen, and even though I didn't know her extremely well this is very sad. My prayers are with the family and friends of Valen. Megan (Rhodes) and I were talking about her and we just remember her as an intimidating force behind the plate, and a great competitor who always had a smile on her face and was willing to do anything for her team.
  9. Thanks Shari. We are all really exicted about this trip. We miss yall!
  10. I am odviously really excited about D coming to UT. I am looking forward to 3 great years on and off the field. I love you D, and can't wait til next year!
  11. I agree with Antwan, Bagwell could pitch and I think GHS would still take state. Their bats and defense are that good. But then again Bagwel is not to shabby of a pitcher and has beat some VERY good teams this year. Good luck girls. bring it back to 9A.
  12. I am not trying to start a controversy, I am just going to explain to you what you want to know. My 8th grade and freshman year we odviously beat Goodpasture a lot, and it was always a rivalry, but it was always friendly, and it was cool. When things changed my sophomore year and they started beating us it was still friendly. Their senior starter, Emily Hill had a lot of class and we were all able to play the game then right after the game be friends and go hang out and stuff. Lastyear was the same thing. Callie Binkley and Amanda Richards made sure that when they won they won with class, and playing Goodpasture was fun. Even though we didn't win, we knew that these were our friends. This year has been totaly different. Everything that happens has been rubbed in our face. An example of this would be after we lost to them at Ezell when we were shaking hands my "best friend" put a piece of paper in my hand. It was a quote I had in the city paper that said "Everyone is lining up to knock them down, and it hasn't been done yet, but I think they are beatable." or something like that. I didn't say we were going to beat them, but they are human and therefore they are beatable. I just know that would not have happened the past 2 years. That's all I am saying. The comments that have been made to me by them about my team are not needed. I play with what I have, and I love my team. I wouldn't trade my team for Goodpastures team. But at the same time, I won'd like it when they act like I am not good enough to be on the field with them, because in my opinion I can compete with ANYONE on their team at any time.
  13. This is just my opinion... I don't think Lipscomb has played any of the other teams in this state tournament. I just tried to call Megan Rhodes to comfirm that, but she didn't answer. But if that is the case it will be VERY hard for teams to come out and just beat Megan. I watched veryher shut down VERY good teams all summer. It is hard to just go out and get hits off of her even if you have seen her 100 times, and it is even harder if you have never seen her. You get frustrated at the beginning of the game b/c she has a way of making a batter feel stupid. Then towards the end of the game you feel the pressure to preform and you swing at her pitches instead of yours. I am not saying it can't be done, but if it is done that team is very worthy of what they get. And if they can do it twice they deserve to be state champs b/c they beat the best pitcher in the state. Like I said, just an opinion, but we'll see.
  14. Crazydave- I will probably be around there somewhere, and I might watch FRA, but I will more than likely be watching Goodpasture or Lipscomb. Maybe Boyd. Home life is good, just graduated and getting ready to go D1, how bout FRA's girls? Stickup- Goodpasture is good, they should be for the mostpart they play together all summer. I am not going to say they are not good just because of the way some of their players act. My best friend is the heart of their team and she works very hard and deserves to be praised. Players like Danielle, Natalee W., Toni H., Jocelyn M. They leave it all on the field and I respect that.
