  1. I've seen both play and I think they're about even at this point, even though some may disagree. I think one thing that might hurt grace is having to many stars on the team. I remember seeing Eldridge shoot about everytime he got the ball one scrimmage... which he did make most of them. And I dont even know if thats an issue for Grace playing as a team... more of a question... will they play team ball? WadleyJuice, you are correct. This is the main question I see facing Grace. They have several very good players, and this can be a MAJOR problem for high school teams, especially when you have seniors who are wanting to put up big numbers to get a scholarship, etc. If Grace plays team ball, they win district. If they run up and down the floor and take dumb shots, they go down hard.
  2. I would say he is, given the fact that he is only a sophomore in high school.
  3. I agree with Martell Powell and Michael Ford. I would also add Adam Plavich, Nick Van Horn, Seth Skogen, Carter McMasters, and the Dozier kid from McCallie (his first name escapes me at the moment). If you count Cleveland as part of the area, Terrance Oglesby from Bradley Central should definitely be thrown in the mix.
  4. Caleb signed with Mercer, and is their backup Point Guard. Sean is at Cedarville University, an NAIA school, but I didn't see him listed on their roster. Not sure if he is playing ball or not up there. Zack is at Temple.
  5. Seth Skogen is not quite good enough to play at UTK or Stanford. To be honest, he won't play at UTC either. It's not that he is not good enough or skilled, he just is stuck in a bad spot. He is basically a 6-3 PF. He isn't quick enough to play on the perimeter (At least in college), and isn't tall enough to play in the post. I agree with what Gomab has heard, he is a better football than basketball player. Also, to say he is smoother than Jake is completely inaccurate. I think Jake is the best of the three, with Caleb a close second. Seth, at least in my mind, is a distant third basketball wise. However, he is still a good player. And just to stop any people who would accuse me of "hating Temple and the Skogens," I thought Jake was the best player in Chattanooga his junior AND senior years.
  6. Let's just settle all this by stating the facts. Again, whether you choose to believe it or not, I am not a cheering fan for either team. For once, Grace has more talent than Temple. Carter McMasters is better than Josh Smith. Grace plays very undisciplined at times (which could easily be their downfall). Temple has no one who can match up with Nick Van Horn. BUT, Temple has better coaching. Grace has no one who can match up with Seth Skogen. Temple plays better team defense and is more disciplined. That about sums it up. More than likely, they split all four games they play this year, including District and Region Finals, if both make it that far and don't lose to CSAS. Oh, and both schools have fans that act like idiots, and talk bad about the opposing team.
  7. Wow, I am speechless. We are comparing how the two did against each other in JV games?? Anyway, I guess we will see how the two stack up this year. If you ask any college coach who the better player is, you will probably get laughed at. McMasters is hands down better. Are you this guy's father or coach? Everyone on here gets so defensive when you say someone is better than someone else.
  8. It is stupid to compare Josh Smith to Carter McMasters. Two different players who happen to be stuck playing the same position. Carter is without a doubt a better player right now, and for the rest of time, than Smith. I am not saying Smith is bad at all. He is actually quite good and plays the Temple way and fills his role on the team. However, if you are taking about who is the better player, you have to take McMasters. He is taller, more skilled, and will play at a much higher level in the future. Before anyone accuses me of playing sides in this war, I cheer for neither school. I just observe many basketball teams and players in the Eastern part of Tennessee.
  9. Will the substate game between Grace and Pickett Co. be on the radio? If so, does anyone have a link I can use to hear the game???
  10. Parshall is a good high school player, but no where near good enough or athletic enough to even play D-II college ball in the NCAA, much less D-I. He is too slow and not athletic enough, but a good high school player nonetheless. He is about the same player as Ben Horton they had a few years ago, and he only went D-III in the NCAA. He may not even be as good as Horton, but that is another debate.

  13. Temple thumped S. Pittsburgh 111-74, and Grace beat CCS 64-39. Details coming soon!
  14. Grace by 6. Salter can't win big games unless he is vastly superior talent. (Holwerda and Cook and Trimiew on the same team)
  15. I am confused! Are Forest and Chapel Hill the same school??
  16. Does anyone have the URL for the website with the district tournament brackets on it?
  17. How many 1000 point scorers has Grace ever had?
  18. How did Grace do at 21st Century Monday? I noticed on the Coacht schedule that a score is not listed for the game at Copper Basin. Surely they won that one didn't they? What was the score of that game?
  19. Whatever happened to Ben Britt out of Chattanooga Red Bank High? He signed with MTSU out of high school, and I don't see his name on the roster this year. Is he playing anywhere now, or is he through with ball for good?
  20. I realize he is a human being. I am also in now way condoning the fans' behavior or the players' behavior, FOR EITHER TEAM. Neither team or fan base showed very much class in my opinion. All I will say to the argument about how his parents felt is that every play on the court had parents in the stand. If you don't want your kid to ever face any difficult situations in life, don't let him play sports and make him sit at home all the time. The only reason the fans were chanting at Caleb is that he was by far the best player on the court, and was beating Grace by himself. That sounds like a sign of respect to me.
  21. I think everyone has made a valid point here, but let's not try to hold every kid that attends a Christian school to perfect behavior. I am not excusing the way kids are acting, but am saying that every kid attending a "Christian school" is a Christian. Surely we are not all naive enough to believe this. A lot of kids' parents put them in a Christian school because the education is so much better, to be perfectly honest. It seems that this whole thread is an attempt to "tarnish" the image of Grace. Grace fans have been on here and apologized profusely, can't we just let it go??? By the way, I don't attend Grace. Just an opinion I have on why people are blowing this way out of proportion.
  22. Whoa, down boy. I have no personal dislike for Davis. In fact, I am a Grace fan myself. I just think that he often takes some dumb shots, when they would be better served to kick the ball back out and reset the offense and have a little patience. Patience is a big part of the reason why Grace got destroyed at Temple earlier this year. He most definitely shot more than 6 times at Temple, and the last time I saw his stats he was scoring a good bit but shooting about 30% from the floor, not a good percentage. He also had shot about 60 more shots than Parshall, who is a better overall player than Davis right now. Just an opinion, so don't let it get to you. Maybe you are Davis?
  23. It is a waste of time analyzing this game, b/c Temple should win by at least 20. Davis Eldridge takes more bad shots trying to get stats than any player I have seen in a long time. If I were Grace, I would want the ball in Parshall's hands. As for guarding Caleb, no one on Grace can do it. A zone would be a waste, b/c Temple would pass and shoot right through it. Besides, I have NEVER seen Mattheiss run a zone.......
  24. As I have stated before, Grace DESPERATELY misses the play of guard Nick Van Horn. He was a DI (yes, DI) talent who had the athleticism to play with anyone. Grace needed someone to handle the ball tonight, and no one could do it like he could have. Plus, he could have guarded Caleb Skogen somewhat better than they did tonight (definitely not to say he would have shut caleb down or anything near that). Grace had no offense and no ball handling tonight. They looked awful, and it could be a short postseason if they continue on like this.
  25. I don't think Grace s near as good as they were last year. They miss Nic Parsons and their best player, Nick Van Horn, a whole lot.
