  1. Congrats to Cleveland on a nice win. What I saw was the new way beating the old way. As Rachel said in her post game comments, she felt they could run and wear WV down and her bench depth would take over. What really showed tonight was (1) It is hard to have only one person bringing the ball down fullcourt 90% of the time against a good pressing team and expect that person to also be a big time scorer, takes too much out of them, (2) you can't play just 5 players against a good team with depth, (3) you can't play what little depth you have in a Junior Varsity game and leave yourself with only 6 players who were eligible for a full 4 quarters. There were kids on the floor for WV with 3 fouls in the 2nd quarter and the others were tired, caused by Cleveland's pressure and evident by the number of missed shots, turnovers, and fouls. Cleveland has a fine team and Rachel has done a good job developing depth, which she didn't have last year. Depth is most important. Coaches having the patience and trust to allow that to develop will only pay off good dividends in the end. Sure, they are going to make mistakes while learning and you might get a few gray hairs along the way, but better now than tournament time, when all the chips are on the table and its win or go home. No one surely can realistically think they can win a State Championship this day and time without a bench. Maybe 20 years ago when maybe you had the best 5 players in a area, or 30 - 40 years ago when girls played 6 on 6 half court, do anyone remember that, am I that old? But now, there is way too much talent all around and most all the good teams played 7 - 8 - 9 players. Good luck to both teams !
  2. WV CHOKING....lets look at tournament time - last 3 years on the other side...... 2001-2002 - LOST to Bradley in District Semi LOST to Brainerd in Reg Semi 2002-2003 - LOST to McMinn Co. in District Champ - LOST to McMinn Co. in Reg Champ - LOST to Shelbyville in Substate 2003-2004 - LOST to Bradley in Reg Semi Every year at the beginning around this time we hear about all that talent, which they definitely have. Every year at the end though, same ole same ole. What's happening Scouter2323, you seem to be a WV hater and a Cleveland fan?
  3. Lets see now......Cleveland's Powell and players have been present taking notes at WV playday, WV jamboree, WV Hall of Fame games, and this one is too funny, drove all the way to watch WV play Chattanooga Central down there. :justwrestle: They may be the best team but they sureeeeeeeee are worried about something!! thumb

  9. I think its good, since its suppose to be for the KIDS anyway. It gives a lot of kids who, maybe under the "who suppose to be real good rule" normal circumstances, would not get the exposure or opportunity to be seen and also play against some great competition. How exciting do you think it is for a normal talented kid to look in the stands and see a Pat Summit or Gino. I bet they play harder and also would make them think about what they needed to do to maybe get those coaches to come watch them play one day. Also, I bet there are some really good individual players on some not so strong teams. Why not give them a chance at being seen. You can't pick up everybody. Sure there are going to be some overmatched teams in it, but what kind of excitement would we miss if they took the #16 vs #1 seed game out of the NCAA Men's Tourney. Then maybe we dont have the excitements of the Gongoza or Princeton cinderella runs, beating some of those "suppose to be real good teams". I still get excited seeing that last second shot by the Gongoza Coaches son, then the moment shared afterward. It must be special since the TV stations still run that highlight during tournament time. If the teams and parents don't mind spending the time and money, why should I say stay home since you are not who I think fit in that " not so very good " catagory. My humble opinion only
