  1. Not discrediting Earl Nall or critisizing the work he does. He does a great job and I have been following his polls for years. Just thought that we were talking about defense and not total points allowed by the offense and the defense. Even with all points allowed in the state Jackson Southside is still third, and subtracting the points scored on turnovers against us would only possibly bump us up to second in the state. Again not critisizing just stating facts. This thread is about the best defenses in the state not whose team has allowed the most points. GO HAWKS!!!!!
  2. The only problem with this list is it adds points scored against your offense, such as interceptions or fumbles returned for touchdowns, against your defense. In my opinion this is unfair because it penalizes your defense for your offense's mistake, which occurred while the defense wasn't even on the field. GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Only 31 points has been scored against the Jackson Southside's defense all year. Averaged out that's 3.875 points a game through 8 games. That's pretty stingy. Especially considering 4 of those games were shutouts. And Last week was a shutout against Crockett County, where we picked them off 5 times. GO HAWKS!!!!!!
  4. Top 5 defense in any classification based on points allowed. Before the Crockett County game Southside was tied for fifth in the state, giving up 7.1 points per game. After last weeks shutout vs. Crockett County our defensive rank could have only gotten better. Through 8 weeks of footbal, only 4 touchdowns have been scored while our defense was on the field, only one field goal has been allowed, assuming all touchdowns were followed by an extra point that was good, the HAWK D has given up only 3.875 points per game. JCM did score 3 touchdowns against us while our offense was on the field, which in my opinion should not be considered against our defense but were. without those three TDs i think we would have been number 1.
  5. Our defense has been playing great all year. One of the Top 5 defenses in the state in any calassification! If we score 14 I think we will get the Big W. Not taking anything away from McNairy, but we held Crockett County to less than 80 yards of total offense, and shut them out (which is a pretty good accomplishment considering the caliber of kicker that they have). As long as we stop the stupid penalties, and don't give the ball up on turnovers, I think we can win it. GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!
  6. thanks for the compliments. keep us posted about how the running back for Crockett Countyis doing. i heard it could be a season ending injury. i hope not for his sake. good luck to Crockett for the rest of the season.
  7. In region 6-3A If Southside wins out then: 1. Jackson Southside 2. Lexington 3. Crockett County 4. McNairy Central If Lexington beats Southside in Week 10, and McNairy beats Southside in week 9: 1. Lexington 2. Crockett County 3. McNairy Central 4. Liberty (if they beat Fayette Ware, should happen) If Southside beats McNairy and loses to Lexington: 1. Lexington 2. Crockett County 3. Southside 4. McNairy If Southside loses to Mcnairy and beats Lexington, and CC wins out and McNairy beats Bolivar in Week 10: 1. Lexington (even if they lose to Hardin Co.) 2. Crockett County 3. McNairy 4. Southside I'm pretty sure these are the possible scenarios in region 6-3A
  8. How about a defense that has only allowed 4 touchdowns(1st in W. TN) and 1003 yards(2nd in W. TN only to Haywood) in seven games. we lost one of our better tailbacks(Mosley) the week of the jamboree, and our big bruising back (Douglas) a couple/three weeks after that. Our offense is just now coming into its own as evident in the last two games we played. The coaches finally relized that they have to throw the ball a little to open up the run, and we have been putting points on the board. I will not say that we have the upperhand, but they have improved and are primed to knock off Crockett Co., as well as McNairy and Lexington in weeks 9 & 10. GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!
  9. Sorry crusader, but i am going to have to disagree with you. Southside has an outstanding defense that has only allowed 4 touchdowns all year. We have been having a little trouble putting points on the board, but after the last couple of weeks you could say that problem has been solved. Also, some of our injured running backs should be back on the field this week and next week just in time to hopefully make a little run in the playoffs. GO HAWKS!!!!!!
  10. SS defense has been great all year. We've had a little trouble moving the ball on offense due mostly to injuries. But, the word is that the Mosley kid that has been out all season is supposed to be back this week, although his playing time may be limited(He lost his big toe earlier this year, but was supposed to be a starting tailback.) If the Hawks score more than 14 they will win the game. GO HAWKS!!!!!!
  11. Southside is weak at best????? The Hawks defense has only allowed 4 touchdowns in the first seven games. That is a pretty strong stat to me. How many has Lexington allowed? 20 according to the Jackson Sun. We have had two of our best running backs injured for most of the season, but they are supposed to be back in time for week 10 to play Lexington. Not taking away anything from USJ and Liberty, they are both good teams, but if a few of the calls from the refs had went the other way, the Hawks would only have one loss so far(JCM). I'm not making any predictions, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Hawks win out and win the region. GO HAWKS!!!!

    Best Team

I would have to say Milan in '98 and '99. Winning back to back state championships is impressive, but Milan did it in 2A the first year and then got bumped up to 3A, and won the state championship in 3A. They were also the smallest school in 3A that year.
  13. the play calling was ridiculous. every since douglas got hurt SS cant run up the middle. liberty knew that and on the sweeps and quarterback bootlegs, which shut us down. our defense is good, but our offense is horrible. (At least the play calling is horrible). We need to open it up a little bit more. you cant set up the run by running the football.
  14. www.Unapproved Website is a pretty good website for high school recruiting, but ithink it is mostly top prospects in the nation. :usa:
  15. Attended Jackson Central Merry then went onto UT. Know he plays linebacker for Denver.
  16. #85 youbeat me to the punch
  17. he should have taken over 5 years ago! or at least after adam graduated, but i understand hayes wanting to stayand coach alex (who is a freshman this year). email meat smitty23tn@yahoo.com
  18. I didn't that was you. Anyway, I think it was a good thing that Craig left and a little over due. He should have taken a head coach spot somewhere years ago. Hope he does good, he was a good coach. Oh yeah, Mr. Bynum is back in town, so are 50 yard line club will be a little bigger this year.
  19. I played at SS from my freshman year to my junior year and graduated in 1997. #84 WR/CB What position and number were you?
  20. i know the jamboree in jacksonis Aug. 23, but i am still not sure about the matchups. JCM, USJ, JCS, South Side, North Side, and TCA are usually all there.
  21. what about jabari greer? when he left for UT from south side he ran at a combine and ran a 4.32 and a 4.37. he is the fastest person i had ever seen in person. he's ast enough that the national olympic committee has been looking at him for the past two years to run the anchor leg in relays, when he is not playing football. they should be looking at him for the high jump, 50"+ vertical leap.
  22. just wondering who the other Hawks fan is? ther is not too many of us around here.
  23. the hawks are going to be alright this year. their ofense lost a couple a key players tograduation, but the defense willbe strongerthan they were last year. their big defensive tackle/nose guard (miles?) is back and he's supposed to be pushing 300 lbs. at 6'& 5 or 6". hes also supposed to be starting on the o-line as well. if the can get their line in shape and playing as a unit, they can be a contender.
