AAA Oak Ridge - all they have to do is keep their attitude up. They are probably top 5 in state Maryville, Farragut - both will beat Bearden and West. Dark Horse - Heritage - new players, young team Sevierville - has shooters Where is Powell? AA AE will always come with a team. They will be a team this year! And the team to beat...last year slow start will help this year. Fulton and Gibbs Seymour will be second to AE Alcoa dark horse A OS best...not much to compare to

This will be the game of the day. Farragut will be very tough for Lady Mountaineers. Heritage has been closed couple of days for sickness.....Is it better to have tough, close game before this meeting or an easy game?

Miss Basketball is a very special honor. There is only one player from East Tennesse worthy of that honor...Webb's Glory Johnson. She is a special player that is beyond numbers and accolades. That is why Summitt recruited her. She will be a national player for years to come. After watching some great players from Middle Tennessee, she is the only player from the East to compare. In AAA, there are several very good players but after watching the girl's from WC, Shelby, MJ, Hillsboro and so on, we do not have that special player to compare. There is a reason why the majority of AAA state champions come from mid Tennessee.

Again, not a good reason...TSSAA should not allow this to happen...UNFAIR ADVANTAGE. If a school suddenly needs a head coach, promote inside until end of season. After season is over...the playing field is level...anything goes.

Don't spin it....IT IS WRONG. If there are reasons or problems...leave the team and wait for end of season to find new job...period.

Noticed where Karly Stache of Heritage High School was honored for exceeding 1,000 pts over Christmas holiday. She joins her brother, Jeremy Stache (Alcoa 2002) and sister, Koral Stache (Alcoa 2003) in the exclusive club. Congratulations Karly for a great job.

First, this is an amazing thread. Second, who specifically has not attended school where they are zoned. And is this illegal? If so, let's report them to TSSAA right now....if not, it would be best to leave it or them alone. Appearently, who ever you are referring to is attending or attended the school they wanted... sounds like they made a choice like your kids. This is not good ground. WB is as good or bad as they are based on the players, coaches and support they have, don't reason out zoning...... I am from this area too, I could say alot more, I would like to think, players are happy where they are and are enjoying playing for "their" school...what ever the situation.

It is way to early to consider who is the best from the east. There are a lot of teams out there with one or two losses at this time. But, if the East is considered as Region 1 and 2, the Top 5 AAA would be: 1. Oak Ridge - hands down, undefeated at this point. Jill and family is beating up on all comers. 2. Is up for grabs, maybe Sevier County...quitly undefeated 3. Morristown West is looking good with one loss. 4. Heritage is still undefeated...toss up between them and Morristown West. 5. Science Hill looking good with one loss. Greenville, with slow start, has four losses according to CoachT record. I agree, they are a very good program and will make waves at end of year...but not in top five right now. Whoever comes out of uppereast will have to go thru Greenville. Maryville has two losses at least but they are tough, just not sure how tough, probably better than last year. Elizabethton is AA. Webb is DII. If Region 3 is considered east....Cleveland and Walker Valley replace two teams from list above. If playoffs start right now, Oak Ridge is only team that will compete with middle Tennessee's Mt Juliet, Wilson Central, Shelbyville (who has had some top players missing early), Independence, Smyrna, Hillsboro and more. The middle has the best at this time. Good news is two teams from east can get to states without going thru these teams.

I thought SG and Maryville wins over AE must have been tainted. See Knox News Sentinel article today. The two All State Tournament guards have had to sit the early part of the season...If and when they are back, they will represent the east at states.

If the two guards are not there, that explains alot...At the end of the summer, they just were not into playing, atleast that is what it seemed from the stands. Do not know them...but to say, they are the best guard combo around. Unlimited talent. Hope they get it going.

No, SG did not motivate them. They have now lost two games. Maryville before them. Both teams good but AE has lost their interest. I watched them this summer. They were good at the beginning of spring but by the time the summer was over...they just did not care. They are the best AA team in the east, no doubt, but they do not want to play. And if the drive is not there they will continue this path. Basketball is about talent, desire and motivation. AE is the most talented and they had motivation and desire last season, especially at the end of the year...they need to find it again.

AAA Maryville...probably better than last year even with their losses..will they have two teams at states. Heritage...as soon as they get everyone back from injury and working together. But for now, they will start off a little slow but gain some depth. Greenville will be the team to beat in the east. Who ever gets thru them will go to states. Sevier County is dark horse, look for them to upset. Oak Ridge is the class of their district. Wait and see for Karns, West and Powell. AA AE have the talent to be the best team from east all divisions. They need the drive they had last year. They can play with the best, they are that talented...but will they.
