  4. Yes, we did. Which reminds me- if anyone has Rick's email address please send it to me at coacht@coacht.com so I can congratulate him and Connie.
  5. I always liked turf over grass. I could live with the turf burns better that the bruises and scrapes from worn grass fields.
  6. They have to pay a fee, which they agreed to, equal to what they charge one kid to participate.
  7. 98 more photos from today's games. These are samples: (these are lower quality in order to upload here)
  8. I'm sure there are reasons that I don't know, for and against, but a few off the top is that having different opponents in the regular season than you play in the playoffs has to be better. DII having to play each other in the regular season, the last few years, and then playing the same teams again in the playoffs can't be a very good way to do it. Also, catastrophic insurance is affordable for teams only because of the sheer numbers of schools which spreads the cost. I don't know if a small group of schools could afford it. Thirdly, travel- travel- travel.
  9. High schol basketball board, guys. High school. There is a board on our college site where you can continue this conversation.

  14. I honestly don't know how hard it would be to do this. I don't think you go totally by a computer ranking but use one, probably Earl Nall's, as a guide. It would be pretty easy to go back and look at last season and tell who probably didn't belong in the playoffs and who should have gotten in. However, that is under a region format with every team playing every other team. I'm not sure how well it goes when you start scheduling who you want to, or can, in the regular season. That is why I think you have to have some human input, outside the computer ranking, at the end of the selection process. The selection process would be exciting, though. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  15. Personally, regardless of who is at fault in the present or past, I would like to get this situation completely solved meaning split completely for the playoffs. Non-financial aid private schools play each other and finanical aid schools play each other in the DII playoffs. Let the private schools decide how to arrange this themselves.
  16. I believe they would but it might take a 2 or 4 year cycle for that to be commonplace. The whole playoff thing, and the animosity that represents, spills over into every sport including the fb regular season. There will be certain schools which will not play certain schools, ever, if there is a perception that the kids attending the private school are kids that would otherwise be playing at a specific public school. I don't want to use specific examples but I think you know what I am referring to.

    State Rankings

The TSSAA does not do rankings on any sports and I don't know anyone who does statewide rankings on spring sports. We do win/loss rankings for baseball and softball, which is not what you are referring to, and we will be doing strength of schedule rankings beginning April 1. We haven't done these for baseball or softball since 2004, I believe. By the way, everything we do that I mentioned above depends on the accuracy of team's schedules and results.
  18. Lots of articles on UT's tough loss, UM's great win, and Vandy's game today.
