  1. What players made the all tournament teams in these districts and was there a MVP? I can't believe that McMinn County didn't have a better year this year. They were very talented. Could it be coaching? I hear that Coach Ray was just wanting his son to do good and that is all he cared about anyway. I also hear that he is preparing his young son that is a freshman to do the same thing and that he is playing all his freshman on the varsity so that they can be good. It didn't work for him with Matts team though because they never did win the region while he was there and they were supposed to be good. I don't know what was wrong with them this year. We were supposed to be good. I bet Matt made all tournament, did anybody else from McMinn?
  2. I like the other format better too
  3. how many teams go to state in baseball this year? Do they take eight like softball?
  4. Breaux should have made it instead of Whittle.
  5. who made a deal? buckalew or jackson? what kind of deal? I still think Tiff will be at McMinn in that black and gold and not at Bradley in there black and gold. Either place she can start in the place of somebody who graduated. Whichever team she goes to will probably be ranked first in district. Brown, Brown, Hardaway, Simpson and incoming freshman (jujuan smith's sister) sure would be a good starting five. Jackson, Buckalew, Pickel, Crowe, and Reynelds would be a good five too. Just throw Buckalew anywhere and they are going to move up a notch.
  6. He is staying at McMinn. He will probably play football in college. He is better at football but he is dang awesome in basketball.
  7. I heard she was coming back to McMinn since they are the only team in district 5 to beat them. THREE TIMES!! Yes she could stand out at Walker Valley but I don't think she would leave a program like Cleveland to go to a AA school. Imagine going from playing shelbyville and laurence county and McMinn to playing Tellico and Meigs. I just don't think her dad would let that happen. I see her at McMinn or Bradley. She could start at McMinn immediately because they lost so many players her position.
  8. I have a question. Is Lavonte Barber going to go to college to play football or baseball. What about Cumby from McMinn? Is he going to play baseball or basketball? What is Pickel going to play in college? I keep hearing different storys on all three of these out of district 5. Barber is a fantastic football player and he could play major D1 football but probably not pro. I think he could play D1 baseball and then go pro. Has he teammate Antonio decided what to do in college? I know that basketball and football give players full scholarhsips. Does baseball offer full?
  9. From District 5AAA I think that Hare, Pickel and Smith all have a legitimate shot at Mr. Basketball. It is not unheard of for two from the same district or even the same team ot be finalists. Name me any player in AAA that is any better than these three. But like somebody said, you got to have high profile and lots of politics. Pickel and Smith don't play for high profile summer teams, both play duel sports, and neither have the name that Hare has. The fact that he is the brother to former winner gives him the edge over Smith and Pickel but don't count either of them out yet. Rumor has it that Smith is going to Cleveland. Hope that is untrue but if it happens he could be the one of the three to make it to Memphis.
  10. Matt Ray is the best Shortstop around. He can make the plays and is a power hitter. He has already signed with a D1 school in Florida. Second behind him is Kellen Pickel. He makes great plays and doubles as a pitcher for Bradley. Will probaly sign D1 baseball or basketball.I think these two players are all-state material at the AAA shortstop.
  11. I hear her choices are Bradley, Polk, Walker Valley or McMinn. I think she will go to Walker Valley because she could step in and play immediately and be a star. Rumor has it that she may go to Bradley because of her chances of being seen for colleges is good or Polk because her mom is from Polk. She came to Cleveland from Athens so McMinn is hopeful that they will get her back for her final year. That would be huge to replace Latham. Buckalew is a great player but if she goes to Bradley or Polk she will have to play controlled and won't be able to just take the ball down and shoot. That is one reason that she might choose WVHS or McMinn. I can't believe that she is actually going to leave Cleveland. Wherever she goes I think she will do good if she will play team ball.
  12. I think this district is very evenly matched. Cleveland may be the best but they can be beat in tournament. I think they have the best hitters, McMinn the best fielders, Bradley and Rhea the best coaches, Cleveland the best pitchers and Cumberland the most capable of upsetting somebody. Right now I think Cleveland has sowed up first place, with Bradley, Rhea and McMinn all fighting for second and third. The fourth and fifth place teams must play just for a chance to get into the tournament. My prediction is this.... Cleveland, Bradley, McMinn with Rhea and Cumberland fighting to play Cleveland in the first round. Bradley and mcMinn will battle it out in the first round. They split this season so that would be an interesting battle. I pick McMinn, then Bradley working their way back but losing in the end because of no pitching. McMinn's hitting will hurt them in tournament.
  13. Let's see. Jujuan, Kellen, Justin, Charles were all-state players this year. That is four out of the five. How many of the ones that you mentioned were all-state. Mmm, Bradley made it to the state finals behind the play of two of these guys, Pickel and Hare. How far did the players you talked about make it. Jujuan, Pickel and Hare are all being recruited by DI schools, and I am sure Little will go high major. Where are the ones you said going? Cooper is a fantastic shooter, a little short, but gets the job done. Now I would play these five against any five you want to put out there and my bet goes with these five. Like you said, it will never be proven one way or the other. But I have watched these five play for two years and I don't see your five being able to beat them. I don't think Jujuan is playing summer ball this year. Last I heard he was going to just play football in the summer and and go to camps and clinics.
  14. Errors from more than just ONE player though. McMinn will pull through but they need to start getting it together in the next two weeks to get a good seed in the tournament.
