  1. I was impressed with the Bearettes staying so close to McMinn. I was also impressed with the heart of the freshmen. She played with lots of heart and played hard. I almost hated to see her have to loose. Almost! Give McMinn credit with the win. They also had to come from behind in the 4th quarter and Wells stepped in a hit a big three. It was a great game. either team would have given Cleveland a good game last nite. I wasn't all that impressed with Cleveland. They only have one player (rogers) in my eyes. She does it all.
  2. Any comments on this game? I was looking at scores and saw that two out of the three times they played that it was a close game. Rhea County has been known to be a tournament team. If Hyatt, Garmany and Jenkins are hitting, they may just pull an upset.
  3. It is hard to beat a good team over and over. I predict that McMinn will beat Cleveland and continue to the substate. Cleveland has a great team but I think McMinn will get them this time even on there homecourt
  4. McMinn boys defeated top-seated Brainerd last night. They could beat Cleveland Thursday in the semifinals and play Bradley for a third time Friday in the finals. Sewell and Smith are hard to stop once they get going. Congradualations and good luck agains Cleveland. I will be there
  5. Howard's caoch and McMinn Central's coach
  6. Give me Kellen Pickel at the PG, Juan Smith and Justin hare at the guards, Zach Hyatt and Charles Little inside the paint with Tim Cooper, Dustin Sewell, and Cory Pugh as reserves and I could even coach this team to a state championship. And the amazing thing is that all these players come from the same district (District 5AAA). Gurantee these eight guys can play with anyone at anytime. It is a shame that they all feel like they have to travel all across Tennessee to play on AAAu teams when they could all stay right here and have a dream team that is as good as any.
  7. Cleveland looked good last night agains the Cherokees. If they play liek that and Bradley plays like they played against Rhea, Cleveland will dominate. McMinn has agood team and Cleveland just made them look bad last night. Juan Smith forced shot after shot and made turnover after turnover. If Cleveland can force Hare and Pickel to both play that bad then they will win by 20. I will be there to watch the Lady Cherokees and the Raiders win district. It will be odd to see no Bradley team as district champ for a change. They usually are playing in both games.
  8. McMinn girls didn't play good for the first three quarters but I give them credit for coming back. They outrebounded Bradley the last quarter. They kept Bradley's high scorer Lindsey Jackson to singld digits and Scott to only 12. I think that they will beat Cleveland tomorrow night. What makes this great is that Cleveland and McMinn will both probably go on to the substate now because they won't have to play each other till Finals. Bradley played good last night. Good luck!
  9. Congratulation to McMinns Latham and Bob Williams. You got player of the year and coach of the year on a runner up team. That's remarkable and says alot for you. Good luck!
  10. McMinn Central in the district 5AA
  11. These are pretty good picks. Kewl idea! But why is Juan Smith rated as the most athletic of the bunch and you didn't include him on your all-district picks? Just wondering?
  12. Cleveland may not need to be so confident. McMinn is very capable of beating Cleveland. Then this would possibly make a game between Cleveland and Bradley in the region semi's which would be very interesting. The Cherokees are being overlooked and have been underrated all year long.
  13. These are my predictions and top players: Champions: Cleveland High (Carver, Westfield, Barber) Runner up: McMinn (Ray, Breaux, Brown) Third Place: Bradley (Westmoreland, Pickel) Fourth Place: Rhea County Fifth place: Cumberland County Coach of the Year: Ted Carson Player of the Year: Antonio Westfield It will be a long season. I will be anxious to see if I am right about any of these.
  14. Matt Ray from McMinn is one of the best shortstops and hitters around. Kellen Pickel is another Div.I prospect as a shortstop from Bradley. Wes Hodges has already signed with GA Tech and is probably the all-around best shortstop in the Chattanooga area. Not many balls will get passed any of these three young men.
  15. Conratulations to the Lady Cherokees from Mcminn for having the Player and Coach of the Year. Williams and Latham.
  16. You guys are assuming a lot. It is possible that it will not be Cleveland and Bradley in the region finals. McMinn, Rhea, Ooltewah, Brainerd...... Seems to me like no team is unbeatable at tournament time. Wasn't it Brainard that was upset last year by a number four team?
  17. Two great teams with two great coaches and lots of talent. The only thing is that there is some class lacking on the part of some when it comes to how to win and lose. How can anyone say that either one of these teams are dominant? Referees didn't win the game for Bradley or lose the game for Cleveland. That is a lame excuse instead of simply saying that the lead was lost. Why didn't Cleveland slow the ball down and make Bradley foul? But that is what Bradley did in the first game and that almost backfired. Who knows. It is awful easy to look back and say what should have been done. I just say that the coaches should not blame referees or anyone else for that matter.
  18. We have four, no five juniors in district 5AAA that could be the top junior. I rank them in this order: Zack Hyatt, Kellen Pickel, Justin Hare, Juan Smith and Tim Cooper. There are very little difference between these five but I put all five at the top of the list.
  19. Cleveland is one or the powerhouses in the state. I don't see how Ooltewah can pull off the upset. Did I read where Oolteway is THIRD in there district? Cleveland is second in one of the toughest districts in the state. I predict Cleveland by 15-20.
  20. Meigs almost beat McMinn the first time around. I fear that the Lady Cherokees peaked too early in the season and now that it is tournament time may not go far. Who will they play first round of the district, Bradley or Cumberland?
  21. Looks like there are not many takers on this subject. It is too close to call a winner in this one. If Little steps up and takes control the game will belong to CHS because I don't see Bradley's inside game stopping him. But it will be awful hard to stop Bradley's three guards. If Hare,Pickel and Pugh all three are on they are hard to beat. These two may meet again in the district finals. The winner of this game should move to the number two place in the state.
  22. was it a closer game than the score indicates? I would have to say that I was surprised that Cleveland won so bad. Bradley may not be able to beat them if they play like that. It should be McMinn and Cleveland as the district champions now.
  23. My prediction is Walker Valley girls and Cleveland boys. Why does everyone think that Cleveland girls is all that great. Bradley almost beat them and Walker Valley did beat them. Plus they have lost lots of games this year. Walker Valley must be very good to beat McMinn Central and they beat McMinn and McMinn beat Cleveland AND Bradley. Cleveland boys are one of the best teams around here.
  24. I just looked at McMinns schedule too. They don't really play much harder one than Walker Valley does except that they played in that Georgia tournament that was a bigtime tournemant and lost and played Oliver Springs and lost. I saw that they didn't beat Tellico very bad and I don't know who they played in that Hall of Fame game that they won by just four. They did beat McMinn County but we aren't all that great either. We are kinda like Cleveland good sometimes and bad sometimes. So I think it will be kinda a close game being that it is at Walker Valley. Not having any close games might hurt them. It might be real crowded tonight there and Walker Valley doesn't have a big gym to seat alot of people so that might make a difference that it will be crowded. I think Walker Valley might pull the upset. Fallon Lee will be hard to stop though. She is much harder to stop than the guards that Cleveland had. It will be good to watch. Who will win the boys game? I think Walker Valley will win that game for sure. Central boys are not all that even though they beat McMinn. That happens every year.
  25. Nobody in East Tennessee can play with Oak Ridge. But McMinn played them a close game in Athens. Thats the closest they have had in East Tenn. I pick OR by 20 or more.
