I have talked with some people who have watched WV practice as well as watched them play some scrimmages. From what I understand they are constantly "in your face" on defense. At the high school level, offense DOES win games and defense DOES win championships. I have seen the shooters from Walker Valley the past couple of years and they are pretty explosive. McGuire is capable of scoring in the 20's pretty easily, Howarter can hit the three's, Caslin is a good shooter. From everything I'm hearing all of you say (those that were at the Jamboree), it sounds like a high scoring offense and a very good defense. Does sound like it could be a good year. Not to mention one of the best coaches in the area. Moore coached a Rhea County team a few years ago (if anyone can remember the year, please let me know) when they weren't near as talented as the Bradley team. They came to Bradley and won, then beat Bradley again in the region that same year. He is a very good coach with a good, disciplined team wherever he's been. He should make a difference as well. Good luck to all teams. Sounds like it will be a very exciting season

    Region 3 AAA

From the way I understand the tie breaker in high school football is as follows: 1st. Head to Head ...... If Walker Valley beats Sequoyah, none of this will matter because they will have been undefeated in their region. However, if Sequoyah beats Walker, there could be a three-way tie (record wise) between Grundy, Sequoyah, and Walker. Grundy beat Sequoyah, Walker beat Grundy, Sequoyah beat Walker (at least in this scenario). Therefore "head to head" wouldn't work. 2nd. Overall record ..... I believe this is next. I don't have all of their schedules in front of me, but actually I think Walker Valley had the toughest "non-region" record of the three schools mentioned. If I'm not mistaken they have Cleveland (4A), Warren County (5A), and Boyd Buchannon (private) on their schedule. I don't know if either Sequoyah or Grundy have a tougher schedule than that. Of course all of this will not even matter if Walker beats Sequoyah on Friday night. I have watched Walker play and they seem to really be motivated this season. Don't know why, but I do know (by checking their schedule on CoachT), that they have won two in a row on the road and are now coming home (homecoming game). I also understand that Walker can be a tough place to play for the visiting team.

    Region 3 AAA

Many people are saying that the game this Friday night October 17 at Walker Valley is for the Region Championship. Is this true? I understand that, if Walker Valley wins they will be undefeated in this region, therefore winning the region. But, Sequoyah still has one region game left on their schedule (even though it is Howard) according to CoachT, and in high school football ANYTHING can happen. So, in essence Sequoyah can win against Walker Valley and still not win the region. Right?
  4. I have been able to watch only about 3 or 4 games that WV has played, but the games I have seen have been FULL of GREAT pitching, GREAT fundamentals (both offense and defense) and very good fielding as well. About their defense? They are not GREAT on defense, but very solid. As a matter of fact, from what I've seen I can say with confidence that if you hit it ANYWHERE up the middle (i.e. pitcher, short, second, or center field), just drop the bat and head back to the dugout. They are one of the stongest teams I've ever seen up the middle on defense. To beat it all, if I'm not mistaken, their SS, 2B, and CF are all sophomores. That's unfortunate for the other teams they play the next two years. Good luck to both teams. It appears to me that whichever team wins this one, has a good shot at grabbing the state title. Oh, by the way.... "Ondeck", try not to be so bitter.

    best field

i think walker valley has the best field hands down!
  6. Can anyone tell me WHERE the game is Saturday morning. I think the game starts at 10:00am, but I don't know where it is being played. Thanks
  7. Walker Valley travels to the "dome" Monday night to face Cleveland.Alot of people think it could be a pretty close game.I personally disagree. After all last time these two teams squared off Walker Valley embaressed Cleveland.I believe they won by 17.And not to mention Walker Valley is hot after coming off a huge district win against the second ranked Lady Chargers of Mcminn Central.I just dont think these two teams even come close to one another.Just give me all yalls opinion
  8. umm trey,u have no idea what you are talkin about! first of all walker valley girls did not get lucky last time.I believe walker valley is number 2 in the whole state! Now i ask you....how is that luck??O yea and second, Walker Valley is not even in Clevelands district.Good try though!
  9. I heard through the grapevine that Walker Valley has lost their one and only "big man". Dotson (6'8") supposedly broke his arm at practice on Sunday. Does anyone know if this is true? I wonder what they will do without him in the line up. I understand that they have another good post player that is sitting on the bench. I think his name is Osborne. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
  10. Has McMinn Central played Cleveland girls? If so what was the result of that game? Just wondering...
  11. Hey baconbreath, I'm not sure to whom you were addressing your post but as just a fan (who happens to be very good friends with parents from both teams), I would like to say that Cleveland is SUPPOSED to win this game. They are very talented and, yes have played a tougher schedule to this point. They are a AAA School, Walker Valley is a "fairly new" AA team. So, again I say Cleveland is SUPPOSED to win. If something happens and WV happens to upset Cleveland, I think it can only help to develop a very good (and friendly) cross-town rivalry. I'm looking forward to a fun game to watch. Good luck to both teams. This should be the kind of game that ANY basketball fan would love to watch.
  12. Why wont Bradley play Walker Valley? Does anyone know? I think maybe the reason is Coach Garren is a little ....i dunno....scared maybe?
