  1. I "know" where I am getting my information from...Trotter has not applied as of Tuesday, but i believe it is still posted, correct? I never once said that he did apply, but I personally think that he may...I "know" that he atleast inquired about the position before Tuesday.
  2. Ms Jolly will have a say....but I hate to break it to you...Ms. Harvey will have the final say...Lets say that Ms. Jolly wants to hire Scott Moore.... The veto will be sent down, but it will look as if Ms. Jolly was the one sending it.. The top two will not look like the bad guys...watch and see.... About Trotter...I know for a fact he has inquired about the position...Applied, not as of tuesday...Will he, I think he will(not saying he will actually take it if he gets the job)... When I say the top two...Cox and Trotter, it is what it is...One of these two men will be the head coach....watch and see.. Coach Moore is a great guy, and a great coach...And I am by no means saying he should not get the job, but he will not....I also do not believe that he would be the BEST hire...but would be a good one On Butcherli(sp??) , I said he has no pull...And he doesn't..I know he is a grad of HCHS, and an x assistant coach....But he does not have the real pull needed.....
  3. Ok I have been out of town the last few weeks but, I know many people from the Houston county area, and I talked to a few members of the community, including two members of the board within the last few days. Knowing or not knowing the situation about Coach Moore, he will not get the job.... Not saying he is not deserving, but its a small town and people up at the top...(actually the top two...would never let it happen....) So take him out of the picture...I have alot of respect for him, but he would not be the best hire anyhow...Two coaches that made appearances in the state tourney jsut this past year have applied or atleast shown interest in the job... Trotter, a native of Waverly, son of Gene Trotter(TSSAA HOF, as a coach), would have no problem playing the best player and would have the upmost respect from the ones who know basketballin the HC area(not just because of his father, but his own record at that)...The other guy is from Fulton, and used to be an assistant at Northeast (maybe Northwest)...And has contacts with the current principal of HC. From the sources i heard from he is actually the leading canidate, because of this tie...I am not sure if he has ever held a head coaching position or not... What happened with moore is pretty bad i will say, and he is a very good modivator....Beal resigned from the way that coach baggett decided to disipline some of the players, which i tend to have to agree with him on...But whoever said something about him resigning for the better job in nashville then getting a "created" position is 100% correct....I am pretty sure that he would not want the head coaching job anyhow...unless he told me personally otherwise....I think that Coach young has no real interest in it since the girls have a much brighter future anyhow...Butcheralli(sp?) will not get the job...has no connections nor the resume of the other canidates...I personally would like to see Trotter hired, because if you saw what he did with the talent he had this year, you would agree...Ask CA...
  4. Good post besides the point you made about defense... There are still great defenders inside a zone... One could be a great defensive rebounder, great shotblocker, and countless otherthings inside a zone
  5. He won a gold ball and I don't fault him for that, but giving him the coach of the year because they won the gold ball with the best talent should not be done. Its a different coaching job than all the rest, but when you get to Xs and Os and watching the teams paly any coach or non-biased fan would tell you, this team lacked fundamentals and team strategy that others in the tournament displayed. They were very fortunate to have a shaq like player in the middle... I can think of much better coaches in 1A, but not many who face the same challenges as does the Man coach
  6. Funny to me, I was there for the entire first round of tournaments...I thought that he was the second WORSE coach I saw the entire day....right behind Humbolts... He had no strategy to break a press, and without readjusting he continued the same strategy....the only props I give him is chasing his palyers down after the game and getting them to shake HB hands.... You take his talent in any of the other 1A coaches and they win that game by 20.... Also reggie was in the top seven players from last years team...So claiming they lost there top even players is a joke...
  7. I have strong evidence that he is really for the first time actually considering retirement. He would like to coach and not teach, but the administration will not allow that, but I think this may be his year to go...
  8. I place them above Norfleet...Gordon was a solid player for 3 years, and as a 10th grader saw as much or more PT than bell...A much different type of player, but a great rebounder/defender/tough guy...Again another player that career points are probably as good or better than norfleet, while being a much more valuable defender and rebounder....I am not trying to hate on the kid, I am jsut saying that you have him way over=rated...Only got PT two years, was arguably not even the best player on two bad teams(as u have already mentioned),,,He is just a hard sell for me to say a top 25 player ever at HCHS...Also I know there are some older people i can talk to in erin to get some older names(pre 82), it would eliminate this stretching... Trotter currently coaches at Summertown(I believe) last I heard, who earned a trip to host a substate game tonight....He had some success while he was there anyhow,,,Also if its the guy that I am thinking of from creekwood, I hope he stays away from Houston County
  9. I was the one who said to hurry and get your teaching degree and apply for the job, I was not the one that said to get a degree....that was someone else.... You continue to name the players that "could of played college ball" when in all actuality, they could of maybe got a suit at a juco thats it....Which quiete frankly is not that great of a feat...In all honesty, Skelton and Beechum were the only two players who had the talent to get all of college paid for. Ross and Bell worked hard enough to get to that point, but didn't have the pure talent(and both of them never got offered a full ride...i do not believe...ross maybe with his grades as well).... The rest of the names mentioned, would of struggled getting enough school paid for to be cheaper than paying full price for tution at say Austin Peay. So for a 1a team since the 92 team, they have been above average in talent...yes....But the only really talented team to speak of was Beechum skelton ross....and the following year bell skelton ross(ross and bell were such the same player, which made that team not nearly as good) Also another name to add to the list, if we are stretching for names you would have to consider Gordon and woodcock, if you are going to consider people like clark, norefleet, and brandon averitt...gordon was a solid three year contributor, that lead all three years in rebounds per game(soph. season cut in half...) Woodcock played the number 2 scorer to bell, and was decent in other areas of the game... I guess we will have to agree to disagree about hiring a new coach..Like I said before, you dont always get what you wish for.... Just a honest question really fast....Do you think penn st. should rid themselves of Joe? The guy from creekwood, I can see both there womens and mens coaches....Is he the womens that coached dickson junior high for a few years? I think you are wrong about Scoot Moore, I don;t think he could of got the job before the rest of the mess happened either. He and Ms. Harvey werent on the greatest terms before then. Another person that they would possibly like to get would be peter froden(sp?)..(which i am not sold on is not you), But I doubt he would want to come back.... Sam young would be a possible canidate... I think if the job would of come up 8 years ago, Phil Ross would of considered it, not sure if he would now.. Johnny Jackson would of been a nice grab, which after the season they had he may want to be grabbed. Another person that I find that could be very interested and would be interesting is Les trotter ,(son of former Waverly coach gene trotter) ...I know from some of my waverly sources he was very interested in the waverly job a few years back.. May want to move close to home, and has some connection with the program.. Any other Ideas? No I did not attend HC, and i accept your apology!
  10. First off, I will say that I misunderstood your intentions...I thought that you were suggesting that they fire him, or pressure him to leave. I believe that he should leave when HE wants to leave...And especially not when some person talks about him on CoachT...A former player at that? Andy is the only person that I can think of that has even attended college with the intent to paly college ball...Again chris norfleet.......I think it has already been said that they told him he was too short.....Johnathan bell was told by treveca that he could walk on and redshirt, but he decided not to give that a go....Skelton could of played, if he could of got in....Beechum didnt graduate I dont believe... Horn maybe.....Clark possibly...Brando averitt , thats not suppose to be brad averitt is it? Dillard will paly small college ball.... I agree that Mcewen has not had better talent, but they do have a D1 player in the last 5 years... I meant his last losing seasons besides the prior two....I just forgot to write it... On to the jerk comment, which was totally uncalled for....I was just making you realize how useless your posting about having a degree was...What exactly does that have to do with anything? Like I said in my previous post, I do not believe that LC is the best coach in the region, and Phil is one that i find that is better(although i believe that phil better with less talent....LC may be more productive with better talent) On to football, LC no longer suggests or tries to talk players into not playing football, he does not stop players from lifting weights during the season during there own time.... Yes plenty of players have only played basketball, but in the same boat there are talented football palyers that could of contributed on the basketball court, that havent played either. Take Casey Roby and Trey Mitchell for example... My only point in even getting into this discussion is LC is a friend of mine, I have no true bearing in Houston county, although I know many people there, along with other local surrounding high schools...Like you I live outside of Nashville and have some connections that date way back to these communities... As an outsider looking in i thinks its quite cowardly that a former player of his gets on here and bashes him personally saying that he needs to step down... I have bashed plenty of coaches on here for not doing the right thing....Running up scores, places hard fouls, and encouraging dirty play.... But in all of 30 years I think it would be a hard stretch for anyone to accuse LC of these things... I will agree on one thing though Orville is a great guy and does a great job with the baseball program. Also I asked you before who do you suppose they should go after if LC does call it quits? Like i said its easy to say get a new person, but who? I have some ideas on people that would be really good canaidates that i think would be interested.....but who knows?
  11. A jerk? Just because I do not believe that a coach that has been coaching for over 30 years and has 2 state tourney, in a small town that quiete frankly doesnt have the best atheletes in the world.... Also your comment about the no region wins, for years they had the ABC schools that have had some real talent come through as region opponents, many times it was simply and out class of ath. that they have faced in region games. Think about this for a moment... Basketball for the past ten years atleast have consisted of 3 As while football has had 5 As...In football HC has never to my knowledge had a top 8 team in the state...And in football there are alot less teams to go through to reach that point... In basketball over the past 30 years he has reached that summit twice... Also lets look at the only other male sport at the school...Baseball...HC has a traditionally good baseball program....Where is there highest placement in the last 30 years? I think back in 99?? They made the top 16 game(correct me if I am wrong?) ...So again I say that he has done something right with some of his teams...Answer me this, when was Coach Baggetts last losing season? Single A that is not an easy accomplishment since all your non region games usually consist of larger schools.... Need more evidence...Sure....When is the last region win for a girls team at HC? Or a state championship birth? Or a deep run in Softball or Basketball? The 03-04 girls basketball ball team won the district chapmionship only to get beat in the 1st round of the regions, granted it was to one of the ABC school and though they finished fourth in the tourney they didnt have there best player back until the game against the irish...As well as that region probably had 4 of the top 8 teams in single A that year....But still? Also, since the 92 team how many players have went on ro paly college ball On to firing... Sometimes you do not always get what you wish for when you get a new coach....Single A in many aspects is a starting point for many coaches..So if they are good they may move on to bigger and badder things...If they are bad, they may be stuck there if they gain there tenure... Also he is the AD...So that would be a tough sell to the AD to fire the mens bb coach, dont you think? Also you have a relatively new administration throughout all of HC... Harvey has just been in office for a few years(an elected office at that) and the principal is in her first year...May be a tough sell to some supporters of LC dont you think? Also more about the school....LC is a tenure teacher, so lets say they do fire him from the coaching position? Then what if decides to stay and teach(which he would never do...but what if?)Then you have have to go find a teacher that doesnt teach PE because LC will still hold that position.... In a small school its hard to create positions, and education comes first you know...These are Student-ath. you know, and the student should come first.....But you should know that, you have a degree, how could I forget../smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Are the better coaches out there? Sure...I would go to say that there are some better ones inside the county that no longer coach...Are you one? I highly doubt it...If so why arent you still coaching..(you did say you were a coach correct?) I think you are quite frankly maybe jockey for your own position? Which if that is the case is terribly terribly wrong.... Please think about some of the statement you say before actually writing them please...Firing someone of this stature after winning a District Title would be a nightmare for a new administration.....Also who do u suggest they go after that would want the job?
  12. Well everyone has "ways" that HC should of could of would of, won that game, but the fact is they didn't! I just think its harsh to bash a coach that has impacted a community like coach baggett, and better yet admit you are part fo the community, but do it on forums such a this. I would imagine that if you went to the games a little early you could get in on the debates with the girls parents about who is not getting enough playing time. About the degree....I am glad that you have one, but i never once claimed you as stupid or anything... But if it makes you feel any better I have my masters? I just think that for someone who has been there that long and still does a adequate job, you should let him retire on his own terms, and stop bashing him through message boards because you did not like his game strategy??
  13. I am not one to say that Wilson was much better than Norfleet, I just think that if Norfleet was to be considered than Wilson should be as well, I personally think Neither is good enough to be on the list....I still say Wilson has more career points then though!
  14. You disagree about ross benefitting more than skelton from beechums play? And you disagree that Norfleet did not see playing time as a 10th grader and Wilson did? And you disagree that wilson was a better defender than norfleet? Just as LC from time to time does, gets caught up in eye opening players(i.e. Kizer) you seem to get caught up on norfleets atheletic ability...He was a solid player that could drive to the basket well, but he was really suspect on the other end of the court....I guess that I could do a little research and prove to you that Wilson scored more career points than that of Norfleet when I get around to talking to a few of the insiders I know in HC sports....
  15. I agree that you sound like a parent of that kid that got took out, or atleast related to one. On to your bashing of LC.... Is LC as solid of a coach as he used to be, probably not. Is he the best coach in the district, again I would say no.... But LC has done some good things for that program, first being he is a stand up guy and gave many players chances that they would of no longer had otherwise...Something that I find very vital in coaches..Most kids will never have the chance to play college ball, and none from HC has ever really had the talent to ever paly much professional ball, but growing from these experiences, and the coaches guidence through the process is very important..This happened especially in his younger years...He has won many games that he "was not suppose to win". Hey beating CA would be one of those. A few years back beating mcewin @ mcewin when they were highly ranked and undeafeted, the year prior to that beating a high powered(substate....that lost to a team that now has a top 7 player on both memphis; roster and UT roster) waverly team at home. ..Beechum senior year beating a high powered east robertson team(the first time when they were ranked #1 in 1a)...Just to name some recent ones...Hey beating a Ron mercer/Drew Maddoux/ Sam Houston team at home with the 92 boys...to name an old one.. Is there things he could do better? Sure....Is North carolina undefeated this year? Roy Williams has made mistakes this year too... Did US basketball win the gold metal in the 04 olympics? I would say a mistake was made there as well!!! Let the old man retire at his will, I think he deserves that, instead of someone bashing him for doing things right. I have been a known person to bash coaches from time to time...Even coaches who have turned programs around and done it right on the field, but off the field have not done such a good job....Ask any coach in the league about their opinion of LC, outside of possibly Petrone....and I think many would tell you he is a stand up guy... So hurry and get your teaching degree and apply for the HC job when he retires.....But leave him alone until he does.... Did you or do you coach basketball?
  16. I agree that you sound like a parent of that kid that got took out, or atleast related to one. On to your bashing of LC.... Is LC as solid of a coach as he used to be, probably not. 17. Really Ross benefited more off skelton and beechem than they did off each other....Beechem and Skelton both took the ball to the hole, so one dishing it off to the other one wide open didn't provide much assistance to each other.... ross was a much better player because of both of them... Dillard in my opinion is too high, he is a really solid ball player, but top ten would really be a stretch.....esp. if you added some more older guys(as I have said before)... Of course the 92 team made each other better, but the thing about that team is they all had special talents that made them a really good team....there could be a really solid arguement that they had the best point guard ever at HC and the best big man ever at HC...and one of the top three scorers ever at HC all on that team.... About norfleet being better than Wilson, I would still argue that...Wilson was a much better defender, you seem to be forgetting the game is played on both ends...And i would also bet that Wilson had more career points than norfleet as well...If you remember, wilson saw significant playing time as a 10th grader while norfleet didnt... I was a fan of norfleets, and I really enjoyed watching him play.....But i guarantee if you ask LC who the number one person that he didnt want to call in sick for a game would of been.....Most games it would of been wilson...
  18. This was a game of mis-matcjes, but they were created on both ends of the floor....As for trapping and things to that nature....Like you already said once before you are playing a team full of guards...)i.e layups, if you put too much pressure on... LC has always been a coach to let his players play....when he has talent they are usually good, and he struggles to win when the talent is better on the other side... These two teams were pretty evenly matched although they were two different types of teams.... If they played again the results may be different, but its a one game series....Cascade played hard and deserved to win, don't place the blame on HC coaches, when the palyers didnt play with much emotion...Some preparation must lie with the players themselves...
  19. Talent wise they had 7 that would of been the 2nd best player on every team since besides maybe 01-02(prob not in top 3 on that team...Skelton, Beechum, and Ross) 02-03(Skelton Ross)-03-04(Skelton Bell) seasons... Also Jason Horn should probably be considered....
  20. Another knock on Norfleet was he didn''t produce but for two seasons...Wilson saw playing time for three years... I would venture to say wilson had more total points in his career, and Wilson also was a much better defender. Also wasnt one of the Kizer boys a good player awhile back??
  21. Neither could of stepped on the court with the 92 team like William did.... Muchless produce...
  22. I meant prior to the 80s.....I personally would of took Wilson over Norfleet...Offensively Norfleet was better, but Wilson was much more dependable at the other end of the court....If norfleet would of went anywhere to paly college ball, he would of had to learn to defend
  23. Yes thats who i meant...He did only average 10 points, but played with 3 of the top ten on your lists... Norfleet could not of played(or got to play) juco anywhere, he was never even the best player on his team, which none of were anythnig special.. I would imagine that there are 5-10 players from before 80s that are better than your bottom five... CJ cooksey was better than Coby Clark
