  1. Of all the teams Lincoln County played this year, Blackman is the only one that I don't think we could have beaten - they were up and played like champions. At the time I expected them to go all the way. If they play all their remaining games like they did against the Falcons, they'll win state. Then again, if we play our remaining games like we did against Riverdale....... [Edited by jabbo on 11-3-02 1:46P]
  2. So the Falcons should have let Riverdale win???? Does this mean we'll make an even bigger mistake if we beat 'em again?????? Oh please please please forgive us for beating Riverdale!!!!!! Please Please Please Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We promise NEVER to do it again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. My new invention (I don't use Miss Cleo anymore), The Jabbolator, unfortunately sez Jets 24 Falcons 21. However, Falcon fans take heart. There are two ways we can beat 'em. 1. If we play like we did against Riverdale (or against Oakland without the turnovers), we'll beat the Jets by a couple of touchdowns. 2. If we can force a couple of key turnovers or get lucky and benefit from a couple of key penalties we'll beat 'em by a field goal, provided we don't commit any serious errors. In either case, we'll need to tire them out AND outcoach them, which shouldn't be a problem. YeeeeeeeeHaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!! Go get 'em Falcons!!! Our season ain't even close to being over yet!!!!!!
  4. Specifically, 21-20. I don't rely on Miss Cleo anymore - she disappointed me last week. My new invention, The Jabbolator, gave me that score.
  5. McCallie showed its talent coming back from a 14-0 deficit. The Falcon players and coaches got a bit too worked up over some questionable fumble calls (there was one bizarre call at midfield from my vantage point) and started overplaying a bit. All in all McCallie is the better team and deserved the win. I gotta find me another psychic.
  6. sez LCHS 14 McCallie 10 Actually, Miss Cleo told me. She said "Lincoln County gonna whoop 'em, I tell you now!"
  7. then don't say anything. You big meanie.
  8. Inquiring minds want to know. And never you mind that I'm a Lincoln County fan. I'll have more to say later.
  9. Jus' some Falcons...that's all.... They're plannin' on servin' up some Red Raider stew and Coffee this evening. Y'all are invited.
  10. 1. Loses to Franklin in the final seconds of the game. 2. Get trounced by Blackman (who later gets trounced by Riverdale) 3. Trounces Warren County (not a real big surprise here) 4. Beats then-#1 Riverdale. 5. Loses to Franklin Co. 6. Beats Oakland. 7. Loses to Cookeville. If this keeps up, we'll surprise everybody and win State.
  11. Kick 'em in the knee! Rah Rah Rass! Kick 'em in the other knee! Gooooooooooooo TEAM!!!!!
  12. So...you're advocating "if ya ain't got nothing good to say, don't say nothing"? The most valuable aspect of this forum is that it allows anyone to say anything, which means that you will read thoughtful criticism and mindless criticism, thoughtful praise and mindless praise. To advocate nothing but praise is just as bad as advocating nothing but criticism. As time goes on, the wackos (that spout nothing but mindless praise or criticism) will be marginalized, new ones will rise to take their place, and the rest of us will plug on. Anyone that takes exception to anything specific that's been said concerning the LCHS football program should address it. Non-specific disagreement doesn't add to the dialogue.
  13. So you're saying the Falcons don't have the talent required? Yeah, some mistakes were made, but for every mistake you list as being the reason they lost I can show you probably two mistakes the coaches made, and we'll both be benefiting from hindsight...the players made mistakes against Oakland, but the coaching made up for it....coaching didn't make up for the mistakes last night.
  14. The coaches are mainly at fault...last week against Oakland the Patriots came on strong with their passing and rushing game and ran over us, until the coaches made adjustments and we shut them down. If a team doesn't get better as the game progresses, then either the team has no talent (not the case here) or the coaches aren't doing the right things. Cookeville ran roughshod over the left side of our defensive line all night long. That ain't the players' fault.
  15. Cookeville 20, Lincoln Co. 12. Apparently, the Falcons have to be the underdogs to challenge them enough to win the game. The playoffs will be interesting...LCHS fourth seed playing Riverdale first seed...Riverdale will be looking for some payback... Jabbo is a sad Jabbo
  16. I've heard that there is an old voodoo hag up on Chestnut Ridge that throws hexes on buses heading south on Friday night.
  17. Oakland was given two of their touchdowns...score should have been 24-7. Also, I think the coaches did a really good job...the Falcons got better as the game progressed, both on offense and defense. The fumbles gave Oakland those two touchdowns. Keep it up...I like it like that! [Edited by jabbo on 9-27-02 11:06P]
  18. Definitely coaching...I'm sure we'll hear the lame attempt for an excuse that had we finished the game last night we would have won...well, maybe, but getting beat 21-0 in the second half says alot more about the coach's failure to keep the Falcons up. The team ain't a team all the time...it would be nice if the coach would fix that sometime between now and the end of the season.
  19. If you're basing it on one's average performance...case in point, Lincoln Co. gave more than 100% against Riverdale, based on their performance against Blackman and Franklin. So there.
  20. so how about Blackman 20-something, Riverdale single digit?
  21. Others do. Backs need a hole to run through, and quarterbacks need time to pass the ball....without linemen none of them will get squat.
  22. If the Falcons have their minds on the game they'll win it (like they did against Riverdale)...if their minds are elsewhere they'll lose it (like they did against Blackman).
  23. Are you saying that it was ok for him to throw a helmet because he was mad? This is a case of a grown man acting like a child. All the kid did was get hit in the head and get stiches, because his coach was mad! This situation is not setting a bad precident for the kids, it's setting a bad precident for the coach. Its just a very unfourtunate situation that should never have happened. I mean, if he just had to throw a helmet, he could have at least looked where he was throwing it first. [Edited by underpar on 9-17-02 12:51P] He was not mad, it was a planned act that coaches across the country do from time to time to fire up their team! I guess you would have to have experienced these things to understand! It is like being an actor in a play and someone getting hurt while doing a stunt! It is the same thing! This was not motivated by anger! The best way I can describe it is imagine you are sitting in a class and there is a planned activity that goes wrong. No one planned for the activity to go wrong, it just did and someone got hurt. that is all this was! Coaches are always looking for ways to motivate their teams and this has been an accepted method for many years. Maybe it isn't a great idea, but it is one that many coaches still use! Do coaches, yell at their teams, YES THEY DO! Can it be an effective method, YES IT CAN! Is it the best method, THAT DEPENDS UPON THE TEAM! Football is the closest thing to being in the ARMED SERVICES you can have in high school apart from ROTC. You experience the full gamete in football! If that coach had shown enough concern for the kid to let the assistants take over in the second half while the coach made sure the kid was taken care of, NONE of this would be happening!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He seems to have enough worshippers that he could stay a long time, even with mediocre performance every year. LCFalcon5n5, are you hearing alot of grumbling?
  25. You can say whatever you want about the event, but if I was watching my kid play football and he didn't return for the second half and nobody told me anything I would be livid. It seems to me that the coach could have eased this situation by showing enough concern for the kid to leave the team to his assistants for the second half while he made sure the kid was taken care of. It's easy to find reasons to either support the coach or condemn him for throwing the helmet, but by walking away from it he showed EXTREMELY bad judgement.
