  1. Results and brackets are up at TrackWrestling. You can get there through TheMat.com http://www.themat.com/specialevents/2008/u...als/default.php Chris Bono is the #3 seed in the Senior Freestyle 66kg division and will only wrestle on Saturday. http://unapproved website/opentourname...namentId=506009 How about Corey Manson doing well in the Junior Freestyle 66kg division!! 5 wins, 1 loss so far and in the Consolation Semi-Finals against Mario Mason and will finish no lower than 6th and above the one person whom he lost to, Vincente Varela, who is wrestling for 7th/8th! Much Congrats to Corey!! http://unapproved website/opentourname...namentId=505009
  2. That's funny. Could you hear us cheering for Simpson throughout the tournament from our seats in the UTC section in 2005? If we'd known you were there, we'd have followed your lead for food & drink suggestions that weekend! /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  3. Just wanted to say a HUGE congrats! (edited to add video links)
  4. Congrats to Jordan Leen (Cornell)! Leen defeated defending Champ Gregor Gillespie (Edinboro) in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals! Congrats to Nick Marable (Missouri)! Marable is making his #3-seed stand as he faces #2-seed and defending Champ Mark Perry (Iowa) in the semifinals! UTC guys are having a tough tournament but there are others (nationally) who agree that they may have had one of the toughest draws as a team. Good luck to all.
  5. No. Only video coverage will be Quarters, Semis, Medals, Finals as the following: Friday, March 21 LIVE on ESPNU & ESPN360.com= Quarterfinals at 11:00am Eastern/10:00am Central (3 hours) LIVE on ESPNU = Semifinals at 7:00pm Eastern/6:00pm Central (2.5 hours) Saturday, March 22 LIVE on ESPNU = Championship (All-American) Medal Round at 11:00am Eastern/10:00am Central (3 hours) LIVE on ESPN & ESPN360.com = Championship Finals at 8:30pm Eastern/7:30pm Central (2.5 hours) http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=2986748 The Semis and Medals may be available through ESPN360.com, but it is not list as such at this time. Also, if you are setting by time or by program to record, you should allow for 3 hours where you see a 2.5 hour slot alotted. It happened last year.
  6. http://www.wrestlingknights.com/ncaa_coverage.html Split screen coverage. Intermat = offering updated match results/brackets TheMat = active message board TakeDownRadio = live audio webcast coverage
  7. Let me rephrase. Results were supposed to be posted at TrackWrestling. Not sure what's going on, but the results aren't being updated on TrackWrestling. That's why I started doing my own searching today and ran across various result listings on the message boards. Florida board had some pretty good results listed for their FL guys. I saw a few listed on the GA board for GA kids (read that Sheehy-GA d. Countryman-AL and Banks-GA d. C.Cuthbertson-AL). I haven't heard anything from anyone concerning the AL boys. Sorry I couldn't provide more. You guys (TN) are usually ahead of us on this kind of thing anyway. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  8. Click here. Follow the instructions for checking results at TrackWrestling. (It isn't possible to provide a direct link to 'Dixie Duals' only results. You must go through the TrackWrestling login page from their homepage.) Also, follow the links added for various states' message boards. You will get more detailed, although probably more biased, info there.
  9. BuckLateral- Aw, man......how's about a little 'spoiler alert' next time?!? /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I tried not to look, but saw it anyway. For anyone who missed it, the Army/Navy dual will be on CSTV multiple times this week. Click here and use 'select search criteria' in the first menu and choose 'wrestling'.
  10. Glad to hear you've put it together for a 7th time. You can check some links and maps here. You can download a form to mail in here. jgannonnvp- If I can help you or if you have revisions/additions, shoot me an e-mail.
  11. Sorry I'm late to the party..... /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> I think ghouse caught you up on most of it. Michael Cuthbertson has returned home from his mission and has committed to Boise State U. It's verbal and will be signed after this season. The timing of his signing has to do with granting him the most time for getting into shape and maintaining the most of his eligibility. Chase and Kyle Cuthbertson are still weighing their options as far as I'm aware.....although those options lean heavily toward BSU. I don't subscribe to W.I.N., so I can't say on that. I will check with Bob (dad) Cuthbertson to see if it's accurate though. Now, regarding Tyler Osborn........ghouse is right.....but needs to hone his Google skills. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Dig a little further into the Northwest College (Wyoming) wrestling news archives and you'll find more. We don't talk about it much down here. Many of us saw it coming a mile away. http://nwcnews.blogspot.com/2007/11/trappe...21-setback.html I've seen Tyler since he was in 6th grade. Very talented. Unfortunately, talent ain't everything. Disappointed but not surprised. I wish him the best at whatever he's doing now.
  12. Wasn't able to make the trip to Vestavia, so before anyone asks.....I have no idea why 171 Tolbert (RB) was DQ'd in the Semis. I was looking forward to him re-matching in the Finals with Kyle. (Tolbert won last year 5-3.)
  13. Good luck and safe travels to Red Bank and all other teams coming in. Pools/brackets are posted. Click here. Anyone interested in getting in for next year should contact Coach Steve Gaydosh at VHHS. Teams change slightly from year to year but competition remains tough. This is the 3rd year of this event. Click here to see 2006 results. Click here to see 2005 results.
  14. There's 2 good reasons to change your plans. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Just kidding --- well, about the Fort Payne part. They were merely a sometime rival when I was in school. It really is a nice, scenic area with (from my experience) good people. Seriously though --- basketball games are a dime a dozen. You can catch those anytime/anyplace. (Besides, you're better off to put off the trip to Fort Payne until there's a bigger wrestling match or tournament.) Sounds like pattonboysdad can hook you up and help you out if you can make that trip.
  15. coacht- I don't have a dog in your hunt ---- but I'm pretty sure I speak for a LOT of us in the wrestling community when I say "THANKS" for your efforts to improve coverage. It is needed and certainly appreciated. We could use more (in media) who are willing to do more. There will be some well-versed in TN wrestling that will weigh-in with tips/info.
  16. Any chance of seeing brackets posted on the BradleyWrestling.com site? BayouBear- Thanks for the head's up on top seeds. Hoover and Southside have a couple who may break into the top 4, but I don't expect much beyond that. Huntsville, on the other hand, should have a decent team showing. Henson and Herrin should make their seeds (or close to it anyway). /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I didn't expect Scottsboro to go (although I probably would if it was my call). They had couple of options --- and opted to go to the Hewitt Trussville tourney instead. I was hoping for Chase to have a shot at redemption. /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />
  17. Ah....it was. Sorry about that. I think I skipped that and went straight to the 'brackets' link. (Hindsight = 20/20) /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  18. Blood Sweat & Tears- Thanks for the answers and explanation. Does sound bad for Oxford concerning their action. I can understand their concern for Sparky Jr. (son of a longtime wrestling official, former wrestler, and Oxford alum). Sounds like the concern clouded judgment for the 'trained' caregiver on site. Glad neither was seriously injured. I don't blame E.J. as that's what wrestlers should be coached to do. That's why matches are set up for 6:00. You can whittle away the football clock or the basketball clock, but the wrestling clock is unforgiving. I'm sure Coach Thompson will address that in next week's practices.
  19. Slackers. (Hey......waitaminute......I have the same problem down here in AL.)
  20. Full results (team scores, individuals, and brackets) are now posted at Mat Control. fiscon- Thanks for getting the results posted earlier than expected/projected! Quick question(s): MOW? and Best Match? nununu- Wasn't there. What happened at 215 with Sparky Jr.?
  21. Click here to read the article in the Cleveland Daily Banner (Sunday, 9 December, 2007). Good luck to David at UTC. Wish him and the Mocs the best.
  22. Congrats to Coach Thompson (OHS) and Coach Pruitt (AHS)! Anxious to see results.
  23. television- Looks like we were both wrong. It appears it was the 3rd period --- unless they wrestled a 4 minute 1st period (Fall time was at 4:30). Not sure if you were there or not (if you were, thanks for coming down --- hope you enjoyed it and hope I can make it up to TN, but not likely with the shift to weekdays this year). I was there but was trying to keep up with all 3 mats (classifications), so I have no doubt that I lost track of the time (as usual, we had several "time" and "period" issues with those running the clocks throughout the tournament). My apologies for posting incorrect info (although I'm pretty sure the scorekeeper lit up the 4th period light when switching to the 3rd period, even if temporarily) but wanted the TN guys to know that Mang won (definitively - it was a nice throw/toss). Big congrats to the little man because he absolutely dominated down here all season. I would like to see him stay in Prattvile simply because he raises the bar for our guys to perform. tnko- Sorry. Didn't mean to overlook you. *See previous thread. We used to have 16-man brackets. They've been running (for 15 years) 3 classifications, 2 sectional qualifiers for each classification, top 4 from each section go to state, 8-man brackets at state. We are struggling for participation in the sport. Only maybe 30 teams in Class 6A (largest schools). Class 5A might have 20 teams but less than 15 would have full rosters. Class 1A-4A (small schools combined) has maybe 20 teams. This year, the AHSAA decided to move 6A to a 16-man bracket for state and divided them into 4 sections (top 4 from each section qualify). Now, they're thinking about moving to a 3-day event, but in my opinion, the only basis for that idea/decision would be green. We simply don't have enough programs (yet).
  24. Congratulations to Mang and good luck to him next year whether he returns to Bradley or stays in Prattville. Minor correction: Clark is only a 1x Champ. He's a 2x finalist, but he is (now) a 4x State placer. He was the 125 Champ in '06, the 119 Runner-up in '05 (lost to Keaton Thompson), and the 103 4th place in '04.
