  1. I don't know 4A will once again be most competitive. I think M. West has had one of the most solid programs in the past few years, however Maryville has derailed them in the playoffs just like many others. One thing the Bobcats and Trojans can claim though is regular season victories over the Rebels in state championship seasons. But as we all know, state titles are not won in the regular season.
  2. An update on the Hurricane coaching front. I heard this afternoon that after mulling it over, Knox Central's Jeff McMillan rejected the Hurricanes offer. McMillan is most likely waiting on Joel Helton to retire in a few years. In the meanwhile, the Bobcats will once again be one of the highest rated teams (especially defensively) in 4A statewide in 2003. COUNT ON IT!!

  4. Dynabody is who I hear the most glowing reports on. I did have the chance to play in a golf tournament with one of their reps last year, and he is a great guy. Lots of luck, getting bids is not an easy thing to sort out.
  5. I have heard from several people in the Knoxville area who think that Knox Central's defensive coordinator Jeff McMillan has been approached and is thinking the situation through. Again, no concrete evidence, but this did come from some people in the KFL. Any thoughts/replies/confirmations??????
  6. How about styaing out of the county commissioner races and stick with elementary school teaching. I am sure that Carter will not be cheated, and anything they get will certainly be an improvement. My top 4 in the region this season are as follows: 1)Central-- good QB and lots of firepower 2)Maryville-- they don't rebuild or reload. They just recruit 3)Powell-- still good enough to make you have to beat them 4)Clinton-- surprise team in this region for 2003
  7. First of all, let me say that Zac Bowman is going to be (shoot, ....already is) a great baseball talent. However, as many of you out there know that on the field skills are only part of the equation for being able to handle the gift of being extremely talented in your sport. In Bowman's case, he paid a dear price for not being able to follow team rules. In fact, a major college coach was supposed to be in attendance at today's game at Farragut, but was informed that Bowman would not be playing due to violation of team rules. The coach respected this situation, and stated that he would catch one of Zac's games later in the season. Obviously, the coach understands that teenagers will be teenagers, and dismissed it as a minor situation. I know for a fact that Zac Bowman really regrets that he had to sit today, however, in a much more important note I think he now realizes that NO INDIVIDUAL is more important than the team. How unfortunate it is that he must miss two of the most important games of the season, yet he has found that education often extends beyond the classroom. "...this too shall pass." Although today's contest wasn't exactly close, the Bat 'Cats will rebound nicely.
  8. Hey 4A fan, I heard you should really be in 5A, but decided to create your own zone. Is this really true? P.S. Remember the bigcat is watching you!!!!!
  9. Hey Red Rage.......The CHS football banquet is tonight. bought your ticket yet 'bro? Since you claim to be an alumnus, I am certain you will want to come support your Bobcats!!!! Maybe you and QB's dad can come and scout the banquet.
  10. Recently, I saw where the top SS prospects were listed for East Tennessee. However, omitted from that list was Knoxville Central High SS Zac Bowman. Bowman(a junior), is already being sought by SEC schools, and is also a pitching ace for the Bobcats. Better than average power, with a quick swing is Bowman's M.O. Probably not drafted out of high school, but a couple of years at the collegiate level will only enhance his skills. Well coached, and fundamentals are very sound.
  11. The Bobcats should be decent once again as they return such top performers as Choi Yancy and Zac Bowman. Not to mention some of the freshmen that will have a significant impact (Zach Helton, Kevin Dyer, and more). I think Coach Gaines Cox should get more recognition, as he was bypassed last year for Coach of Year honors. Of course, Geff Davis at Gibbs had an outstanding year, as did the Farragut program, but nobody expected Central to do what they did (24-9).I suppose if Bearden or Farragut win at least 70% of their games it doesen't matter to the News-Sentinel what everyone else does, they will choose a coach of the year from one of those two.
  12. I hate to say it, but Cleveland was just too physical. Also, Walter Martin is a great back, but his fumble late in the game took any confidence away that the 'cats might have had left. Oh well,.... we do lose some talented and classy seniors, but there are 2 in every position ready to fill their shoes. If we don't have enough then we can always go raid some more from Halls and Powell, LOL!!!!
  13. ....doing things in twos today are we? For the last time, CENTRAL DOES NOT CHEAT. Just face the obvious, occasionally there are teams that are better than yours. Whether that be Fulton, or the "Dead" Devils, or whomever. As for John Paul.......ROCK ON MY BROTHER!!!!! Knox Central 22 Cleveland 15
  14. Amen, chscat. That was some pretty funny stuff, seeing the look on the face of the Gibbs High AD when Joel asked him if he wanted to step outside. Basically, Helton was not bothering anyone and Taylor came over and instigated the whole thing (oh there's a big surprise). I could see if Gibbs thought they were losing baseball athletes to Central, but I don't think the enormous success of Gibbs High football could even be tied to illegal recruitng. Thats like fixing a tire when the engine is blown.
  15. On Friday, we came, we saw, we kicked Powell's ........ well you know the rest of the story. Powell AD nowhere to be found after this one. GO BOBCATS and Coach Kelly!!!!!!
  16. The Bobcats proved last week that they can take the heat in the kitchen. However, I am not sure that the Panthers can do the same. I see Milligan getting 140 yards rushing, but I do not see Powell scoring very much. Central 19 Powell 7 P.S. Hey Powell fans: THANKS FOR SENDING US COACH KELLY!!! Rest assured, any other gifts will be appreciated as well.
  17. Central will defeat Powell this Friday, and much of that credit has to go to former Powell assistant Kelly Robertson. There is no other coach that can relate better to understanding his players than Coach Kelly. In fact, I am almost certain the Panthers wish they had him back, but I think Kelly will be a Bobcat forever. Go Bobcats!!!!!
  18. All of that info is great Maryville Rebel, but you forgot one thing: Maryville is NOT a KIL school. I don't know why, but that is at least twice tonight that I have heard Maryville referred to as a KIL school.
  19. You can have the Jim Gaylors, Jerry Thompsons, and the guy at Anderson County. However, for my money I would not have anyone but Jeff McMillan at Knox Central. Coach Mac should have gotten the head coaching position at Carter last spring, but the powers that be chose Heath Woods instead. It was inferred that someone close to that decision had a problem in hiring Jeff. NEWS FLASH: It sounds like to me that they have larger problems looming in their noggin'!! for as we speak the Hornets spin round and round like one of those bumper cars at the county fair that gets stuck in the corner and cannot shake free. Jeff McMillan has to be one of the masters at getting his kids to do EXACTLY like he coaches them to on Friday nights. He doesn't alwways have the best tools and resources to work with, but you can bet everything he has will be utilized to its maximum potential.
  20. If people think that Carter can upset the Powell Panthers on Friday, then they had better think again. The Hornet offense(or lack thereof)has rang up an explosive 63 points in 7 games. Out of the 7 games, 49 of the points have been scored in 3 games v.s. Clinton(W), Campbell Co.(L), and Knox West(W). Not exactly household names that strike fear in football purists. In addition to the anemic offense that cannot score, the Hornets have fumbled 10 times in a single game on two different occasions this season. (more muffs than the Bill Clinton administration) Heath Woods is a nice guy, but I am convinced that he must make wholesale changes with his offense, and the sooner the better.

Heath Woods is a nice guy, but he must make wholesale offensive changes, and soon!!! The current offensive sets would be difficult for a lot of college teams.
