  1. An outsiders viewpoint: The Lipscomb faithful continue to fall back on how good their coaching is (and it is) and their schemes. Well, MBA doesn't exactly run bad schemes and their coaching isn't too shabby either...and Maplewood played them even and from what I am gathering, lost because they play several players both ways and tired. Maplewood also beat up a team (Hillsboro) that hasn't been bad in a while. Also, scoring those points on an MBA team is impressive......and I find it hard to believe the talent level and the schemes are any better at DL as they are at MBA. So Maplewood, imo, should score some points. Now Lipscomb is always ready to play and I can't say the same for Maplewood....But if Maplewood shows up ready, then DL better find an avenue to score 30, because I believe they will need every point.
  2. Good game, guys. Nice to get the first win under your belt. Now, this one is over and focus on the next opponent. Always one game at a time. Continue the drive and strive to improve. Congrats to the crowd also....Man, the place was packed. It is great to see. There are many great programs in the state and I'm privledged to live in a town that has such programs.
  3. Before the split occured, WH moved to 4A. Then the split and WH played 4A ball with a 3A school attendence. Check your facts, we competed quite well. Matter of fact, we beat the stuffings out of the eventual 3A runner up that year. By the game I watched last nite, WH, with the additional athletes from another school, would not only compete, but excel, and who knows what the score would have been if we were in your region. I'd say the clock would continue to run in the 2nd half. So before to run off at the mouth again, better to focus on your own program and quit whining why Portland can't win and WH does because "we built another school"...... You have no clue.
  4. Always an exciting time of year and it's WH / Portland so the atmosphere will be great. Portland needs to bounce back from a butt kickin'...but they have played and worked out some of the kinks? I see WH getting their legs in the first quarter, controlling the tempo and winning at home.
  5. Is Dacatfish back? He won't be here long...he got his sorry butt kicked the last time he was on here challenging everyone. Looking forward to the season. I believe this years version of the Blue Devils will work hard and improve each game. I know the effort will be there.
  6. Please, please....Hurry up hockey season.... Fromthetop..... Hearing anything on season tickets? Wondering if the whole saturn mess and obamaonics are hurting things.
  7. Associate: Mechelle McNair didn't know of affair NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - An associate said Wednesday that the wife of ex-NFL quarterback Steve McNair didn't know about Sahel Kazemi before the 20-year-old woman was found dead alongside her husband on the Fourth of July. McNair, 36, was shot four times in what the medical examiner has said is likely a murder-suicide, though police haven't confirmed that Kazemi was responsible. Mike Mu, who has worked with McNair's charitable foundation for years, said Mechelle McNair "didn't know who this girl is." Mechelle McNair, who has not spoken publicly since the shooting, has been described by people close to her as being very upset and distraught. Agent Bus Cook said McNair's wife was "in and out" of it in the hours after the shooting. Kazemi's family told reporters that the woman was so confident McNair was divorcing his wife of 12 years that she was preparing to sell her furniture and move in with the former quarterback. Mu is handling media inquiries for Thursday night's memorial service in Nashville. A funeral service will be held Saturday in Mississippi. The close friend who reported McNair's death to 911 defended his friend since their days playing football at Alcorn State to The Tennessean. Robert Gaddy, who did not immediately return a text message to his cell phone from The Associated Press on Wednesday, said the the McNairs' Nashville home was on the market because they were looking for a new house. "People need to quit talking about what they don't know. Mac never said anything to me about he was going to get a divorce, and ever since this has all happened everybody is trying to paint a certain picture and they need to talk about what they know," Gaddy told newspaper. The four-time Pro Bowl quarterback was being remembered Wednesday at the stadium where he played much of his career. The Tennessee Titans opened LP Field for fans to watch video highlights of McNair's 13-year NFL career, look at photos of the quarterback and had a book for them to write messages that will be given to the family. The McNairs married in 1997, and Mechelle is the mother of two of his four sons. She met McNair while both were students at Alcorn State, though she also studied nursing in Nashville and became a nurse while he played for the Titans. Mechelle McNair tended his numerous injuries at home, changing bandages and even helping with intravenous fluids in 2001 when her husband needed I.V. antibiotics for an infection that developed after shoulder surgery.
  8. Feel for his family.....It's hard enough when a family member is acting as it appears he was.....now to face the ultimate consequence....death. Hope his family is ok.
  9. As the story begins to unfold, I guess we will remember Mcnair as a great football player. Don't want to speak ill of the dead, but I really don't want to hear what a great man he was(nt)...
  10. Nashville re signs Steve Sullivan and Joel Ward.
  11. Tuesday was a disapointment because we played our hearts out..... But tonight, down 3-1 to the defending champs, Arnott turns into a BEAST, we tie it up, Rinne shines in OT and THE BEAST Arnott wins it.......Kudos to VK...He is not my fav player, but he possibly scored the most important shootout goal in Preds history. I sure hope the Blues were watching our game.... They gotta be squezzing those sticks.
  12. As soon as Sully scored that first goal....He quit squeezing the stick and now seems to be in the right place every time. Now teams can't smother Arnott and Dumont...they gotta find Sully. Leggy has picked up his game and it is obvious from the effort. If this guy would bring it all year, he could score 30. And Ward...ever since he made that little move across the goal mouth and scored, his confidence level has risen.... and it seems to have rubbed off on everyone else. Pekka Rinne is white hot.....and even though he allowed a softie against Edmonton, he made several great saves,,,the quickest glove in hockey. The goal looks so small when he stretches out. And the detroit game....What can be said....The place was electric, the wings fans were shut up early and it was the most fun I've had in a while. Now comes Columbus....last of the 5 game home stand....This should be a great game but honestly, if we play a little defense, we win 4-2.
  13. Just when I want to stick a fork in the Predators, they raise their heads (and game) and have now climbed back into the race. The last period of the chicago game and the Phoenix game thurs nite was some of the best hockey they played all year. Pekka Rinne is turning into a stud...... He could be Martin Brodeur like.... winning games by himself. Let's see what happens against detroit saturday...they seem to have our #.
  14. Dang it..... Down 2 zip to Dallas and had the 4 min power play.
  15. Hammers name has been kicked around.....Or do you know something??? So what team out there needs defensive help for a Cup run??? Or are we only looking at teams out of the playoff picture?
  16. The calm demeanor he exhibits during after game press needs to become a chair throwing, butt chewing exhibition. I'd as soon trade Arnott and Dumont if we struggle the rest of the year, take my lumps and be ready to explode the next..... We have enough defensive talent as trade bait and could free up enough money this year to field a good team next.
  17. Welcome to the hockey family, Buc. There is no other sport as exciting in person as hockey. Hopefully, you'll get to see more of the team that beat Detroit, Pittsburgh and chicago than the loss to Atlanta. On this team, when our big 4 struggle (see fromthetop list), we are gonna struggle. We are not talented enough to overcome offensive shortcomings from our established, top line players. But the game is entertaining, preds do a good job between periods and normally we are good at home. Fromthetop, I believe part of the problem is Trotz, not his style per se, but the fact that most of the players in the room have heard it for years now..... the same ole stuff and you know (at least i do) from our own experience that the same words, same motivation soon falls on deaf ears.....I believe he has lost the room. Of course, hiring a new coach requires money, unless they can get someone to work for Trotz money.
  18. Well, to answer your thoughts... 1) Catholic fans are intelligent enough (while sober) to bring the cheap stuff so people (like you) can accuse the other team of sabotoging their bleachers with inferior liquor...... Place the blame into the other team. 2) The spitting could be two things.... Even us stoopid WH fans understand it is useless to pull out a credit card in the stands...Where were we gonna run it??? It would also be useless for us poor WH fans to take it because more than likely it is maxed out.... OR, you were spitting because you were drunk and drunks have a tendency to slobber anyway. Probably just trying to talk but the result was spittle was flyin'... 3) Why your credit card is maxed out. Why your bleachers smelled of cheap booze. Why you are in foreclosure. At least when we smelled the pot at the Melrose game it was quality stuff....Orange Mound knows how to party. Now, rub your beads....
  19. I was not fortunate enough to go to the game....But I will watch the replay. As for any pushing or shoving and who has class....and being called out by a fan of a team who has no dog in the hunt....I believe I posted that WH players have committed unsportmanlike penalties in the past, but it is normally followed by a coach blessing out the offending player and a trip to the sidelines. Good programs who have disciplined teams do not tolerate boorish behavior but it will occur....and it has with every team. What I witnessed in the WH/SC game were the personal fouls but no SC coach taking exception with the offending player....While some SC fans, before the game on the boards, were calling WH classless....Maybe I was witness to an anomoly and the SC coaches take exception to personal fouls...but they did not the game I watched....So the classless comments before the game, by their fans, didn't seem to hold true. As for any extra stuff between WH and KC, I've been told it was broken up quickly before anything escalated. The coaching staffs did their jobs. Imo, it does not reflect on the programs at large as the staffs did their jobs, cooled down the emotions of 15-18 year olds. Now, if it was allowed to fester with no coach involvment, then go ahead and throw out the classless claim....I would. Good game KC. It is obvious your program is managed with class and deserve respect.... It is how winning programs continue to win....they do things right on and off the field.
  20. Congrats to Knoxville Catholic..... Good teams take advantage of the opportunities presented and you guys did just that. No shame in losing to a talented team. Congrats and play well next week.
  21. 24 - 21 at halftime. Catholic has been the beneficiary of three WH turnovers resulting in two touchdowns drives of less than 10 yards. Hopefully, WH will find its turnover bearings, play mistake free in the 2nd half and win the game.
  22. WHIN in Gallatin is broadcasting the game.....Listening on line. So far, so good. Sounds as if White House is actually competing with the east tennessee team...
  23. The poster calls himself "fulmer"????? LOLOLOLOLOL....... Great football minds think alike...
  24. Congratulations, how does it feel to only join Coach T to disparage another team??? What is it with you people???? Get a text from a hater, join the T, post on the WH thread. There has been more posts from fans of other programs (jealous fans, I might add) than from the actual fans themselves..... And congrats on joining the spelling police. They need more volunteers. I hear they can't spell on the Alcoa thread....go check it out.
  25. Another classic example....LOL..... See KC fans, you are not alone....LOL
