No, I most certainly did not say that they are unimportant. They deserve all the support in the world. What I believe that they do not deserve is over-analysis that they can often receive here. These are only children who do not need the added pressure of being discussed on a public message board. I feel that they should certinly be recognized and congratulated, but I feel we should wait until HS before they are really critiqued.

First off, I am not trying to question the validity of this question, but there is something I am curious about. I have seen several times on here threads discussing jr. high and younger. Is there not a point when this is juat a group of girls playing a game, and it should not be critiqued to such a level. I think we (me included) often go overboard on how we discuss high school, but this is junior high, and even younger. Maybe it is just me....

To be honest, outside of the top three, the others are nothing great. I agree that DC should be the 4th to make it to the reional tournament. The order of the top three is still a toss up right now. More of it will begin to be sorted out after OC plays GC on Tuesday night. I think it isvery possible that there is a 3-way tie at the top with OC, GC, and Martin all splitting with each other, with the home teams winning. I am looking forward to reading everyone's thoughts on the big game Tuesday night in Dyer as the time grows near. GO REBELS!

There are no excuses to be made by Martin about this game. Just like there should have been no excuses made by Central after the loss at Martin. When two teams this good meet, it is always a battle, and generally the game can go either way.

Well, I am sorry if perhaps the Martin girls can't enjoy a victory. If you can enjoy your wins, what fun is the game? So you are aaying that 14-17 year olds are no longer allowed to celebrate after a big win? It is a game, and it is meant to be fun. Give me a break! So they jumped up and down and hugged each other and screamed like girls do. Oh no. What a shameful image that they have cast on the entire county. I'll hope we lose the next one so I can watch them cry to balance it out for you. Get off the high horse and let them enjoy the fun.

Desperate for the win? No, I don't think so. OC did need the win to break into the top 2 in the district. Did you expect the girls to not be excited after beating the #1 ranked team in the state? Come on now. They acted like they had just one a huge, thrilling game, which they did. When the Memphis Tigers knocked of Illinois this year I was at the Pyramid and watched the team get excited and enjoy their win. So if major D1 program can celebrate, I think a high school girl's basketball team can as well. Was this game the end all to the season? Of course not! Heck, we stil have to play GC twice, but last night's game was one of the biggest games for OC, and they got the 'W'. I think they deserve some celebration. 9096 minutes until game time!

We shall see at the end if they are the best, but I knwo that they can compete with anyone right now. This group of girls works harder than any I have ever seen. BTW...does anyone have stats on the game? I was there so I didn't get to hear any postgame. Thanks!

I can safely say that in all my years of watching basketball at "the pit" and elsewhere, that this game was one of, if not the best game that I have ever watched. Both temas left everything on the court. I doubt that the voters move OC up to #1, but they very well may be there when it is all over. I hope that I am able to see one of the OC vs. GC games this year. They should be fantastic games as well. Congrats on a great game Martin. WAY TO GO REBELS! WAY TO GO COACH HOFFMAN!

It is amazing the level of play that is coming from 13AA this season. Oc is still of course the underdog, but the will give Westview all that they can handle. If Martin is off, the Rebs make get out with a victory. I hope "the Pit" is packed. It has been a long time since I have been able to watch a game there when it has been a capacity crowd. Ahhh...the old days. But I don't want to get off subject. See you tomorrow night Martin! GO REBELS!!!

I can't wait for the Oc vs. Westview game. I'm making the trip back up from Memphis just for it. It should be a great game to watch. I have to take my hat off to Coach Hoffman for the job that he has done this year. Way to go girls!!

If you have a score for this game, please put it on the scoreboard. I see the score on the message board, but noticed it is still missing on the scoreboard.

I would suggest you get the address form their website and map it on yahoo or mapquest. The information can easily be found on your own.

The argument that someone should not be punished just because "everyone else does it" is highly illogical. If you get caught, you will be punished. Hopefully, other who break the rules or "cross the line" shall get what they deserve, and in a perfect world they would. But this is not a perfect world, nor is it a fair one. Coaches will always attempt to get around the rules set by the TSSAA to gain an advantage. Some will do too much to ignore or sweep under the rug any longer. This is what happened to Mr. Hopkins. This is purely my speculation, but had he not resigned, Dyer Co. would be left in an even worse place. Hopefully now you can move on. If he had been allowed to stay, not only would the TSSAA have continued to investigate and punish, but the problems would still exist. Mr. Hopkins knew the rules just like everyone else. He knew what standard he had to live up to. Perhaps in the eyes of the DC blind he did, but he did not, and a forced resignation is the price he had to pay. I wish Dyer Co. nothing but the best in the following months. Hopefully this puts an end to the problems and I recommend to all DCHS fans and supporters to move on. I can speak from first hand experience, the more this is dwelled on, the worse it will become. Accept the fact, let it go, and move on.

I never said that Trey was not the real deal. I had the pleasure of seeing him several times while he was at South Fulton, and I know what he is capable of. The point I was trying to make is that he will be VERY key to Ole Miss this year, and if cannot preform better than he did against the Tigers in a hostile environment, they will struggle this year. I know Trey is going to be a great player. I don't want to take anything away from him and his future. They just need him to step up and not be intimidated like so many Freshman are.

Did anyone else who was at the game or watched it on TV think that Trey looking very intimidated Thurs. night? I don't think he is ready for 18500 screaming fans yet. I know he is a freshman and I am sure this was a good learning experience for him, but Ole Miss doesn't need many games from him where he gets more fouls than points. Of course I'm not complaining! That dunk that Carney had all over him was awesome!

I hope that we have a lot of students there, but with the horrible scheduling of this game (after finals and most have gone home) I am not to optimistic. Not to mention the weather.
