Will Wagner and Co. have the guns to clinch a play-off spot this season? There is an awful lot of smack talk about lc. I would like a ligit post on what we can expect out of the lc crew.

I like the split 4 (4-4). I like this even defensive scheme because it matches up well with wing-T teams. It is vesitile enough to match up with any offense. The key ingredient to this defense (just like all defensive fronts) is sound gap control with the defensive line and linebackers. The strong-side tackle has to be very trap conscious while he creates a new line of scrimmage. The strong side end has to be a STUD that can fight across down blocks and kick-out blocks from on coming guards. The weak side tackle is often crashing A or B gaps (the quicker the better). The weak side end is a freight-train. He is coming off the edge now. He is not going to get kicked-out. This position doesn't require much thought so if you have a linebacker that is aggressive and quick but cannot read well this is the position for him. THE KEY RULE FOR THE LINE IS TO NOT RUN UPFIELD. Another advantage to this defense is that the linebackers always no who they have every play. In a cover 3 scheme the 2 outside LB's have the flats and cover the number 2 reciever. The inside LB's have the back to their side. The two inside LB's have to play downhill every play or this defense will not be effective. If a linebacker gets an AWAY read he scrapes. If he gets a TO read he pursues downhill. There are many variations to this defense. It is highly versitile with the right personnel (just like any defense). YOUR DEFENSE HAS TO BE SUITED TO YOUR PLAYERS STRENGTHS.

No contest. Marshall 41-14. Tiger offense is just to strong. Defense ain't bad either. McNairy beat a very young Sycamore team last week, kicking onside while ahead by 35 points. The Browdercats won't have that oppurtunity this week.

It,s awful funny how the same "guru" coaches who had average or less than average records at public schools in which they have coached in the past, suddenly "have went to work" and are now so much better coaches at the various private schools. Go check Scott Smith's record at the public schools he coached at. Was he not"coaching his butt off" then! See ya private boys, you brought it on yourselves....

The only thing that is coming to Sycamore is keeping it's playoff possibilities alive. MCHSballer, get off the pulpit and admit the truth. You got beat fair and square by Cheatham and Sycamore and Marshall County and Page and probably Greenbriar as well. You don't win the big games so you don't go to the playoffs.
