Big question going into this game is can Franklin stop I'Tavious Mathers? Better yet, can Franklin hold Mathers to reasonable yards and keep him out of the end zone. Franklin shocked all of Rutherford county on Friday by beating Oakland and looks to make the trip to do it again. Cant wait for this next Friday. Going to be a great game.

Did I rip clayton today? Did i not congratulate Franklin? Have i not said for the past week that if the Franklin players show up to play then they could win this game? Kid, instead of getting on here with the sole intent of attacking people, take some time to read the posts and understand that being a fan is not being blind to the fact that our team can screw up sometimes. It started last week with you and ComeGetit when he took an objective look to the Franklin/Brentwood game. Which he was correct. You were correct in saying that Franklin won this game. I cannot wait to see your prediction for this upcoming game. As for Clayton, he has never met me nor has he coached me, I simply do not like the way he approaches most games and do not think he has what it takes to win a State Championship in Tn.

Prove the kicker wrong? Never stated I think Franklin will lose. Only stated that they will have to play a balanced game to beat a quality opponent like Oakland, who was ranked #1 in the State for a majority of the year. Franklin has played a team close to the caliber of Oakland yet this year so the odds are stacked agains em but if our boys come out and play like we all know how, and Clayton doesnt fail em with poor play calling, then Franklin can and will win this game. If they bail on the run early and Kuivinen throws 4 INTs again Oakland will win easily. As for going to the game... I will be at home with my wife and 5 month old enjoying the game on the radio. No sense in bringing my little boy out to the Boro in 20 degree weather.

Grow up kid. I was there when Coaches were being interviewed for the job after Coach J. surprised everyone by going to Giles County. Lucky for me I was a Senior and never had to play under Clayton. The only reason he was hired is because Todd Campbell knew at the time that Clayton could get his son into a major college (a lot of good that did him). The only reason Franklin lost the State Championship that year is because Oakland knew everything that Clayton was going to do becuae he abandoned the run (not taking anything away from Oakland in that game they played a great one). Until Clayton realizes that he is no longer in Kentucky and that going after a team with a one dimensional approach isnt going to work the Rebels will never be a State Championship team. The talent in 6A is too great to beat with just a solid passing game.

As long as Clayton is the head coach Franklin will never win a State Championship. I said this when he was hired and I stick by it today. He has a poor record against Brentwood, and his teams perform poorly in the playoffs. He had no busniess losing the State Championship a couple years ago when Nichols was QB. He abandons the run far too often and his play calling is very predictable. For Franklin to win tonight Clayton is going to have to come out with a balanaced attack. If he doesn't Oakland will run up the score on Franklin. If he does it will be a tightly contested game that I think the Franklin players can win.

I agree 100%. When I played from 01-04 if you were first or second in your region (now division i guess) you got to play a home game in the first round of the playoffs. Now both 11 AAA teams in the playoffs who finished 1-2 have to travel? TSAA screwed the pooch on this one. Anyway, it is the way it is and both Franklin and Brentwood cant go into their games tonight feeling bad for themselves because of who/where they are playing. If they both show up we could be in for some great football games. Good luck Rebels.

Wasting air? No... Just exercising the fingertips a little bit. If you go back and look at my posts I have never once said that either Franklin or Brentwood would win this Friday. If your Rutherford county schools go out on Friday with this attitude that they have cake walk games both Franklin and Brentwood will leave with W's. Obviously, no player on the field is thinking they have a cake walk game. After talking with a friend of mine who coaches at Oakland it sounds like they are extremely focused and having a great week of practice so far. Hope Franklin is doing so as well.

Franklin had the best record in their district but Brentwood was undefeated in district play. It did used to be though that the top two teams in each region got at least one home game. Kinda ridiculous now that no team from district 11 has a home game with the new system.

I'll get that in the mail for you! The only way to judge these two teams in common opponents. The only common opponent I can think of that Franklin and Oakland played was Brentwood. If im not correct it took an extremely late TD for Oakland to beat Brentwood. It then took Franklin having 5 turnovers for Brentwood to beat Franklin late in the game.... Based on this and this alone Friday nights game should be a great one. I have never stated that Franklin will in fact beat Oakland, but I do like their chances.

After losing on last Friday to Brentwood, the TSSAA seeded Franklin higher. Their second and third round games may be more difficult but come this Friday Franklin has a better chance of beating Oakland then Brentwood does of beating Smyrna. The fact that you are already putting Franklins third game against "probably" Smyrna shows that you give Brentwood very little chance of getting out of their game with a W. As for being a kicker.... I'll leave that one alone.

I never said District Champs deserved a 1 seed.... I also do not think though that they deserve to be seeded at the bottom of the barrell. Does Brentwood deserve an 8 seed after winning District 11 and beating Franklin in the last week of the season to only see Franklin get a 6 seed? The bottom line is the new system is flawed in every way and no team can justify that it has been done properly.

It was always about the money. never saw a problem with drive time to games, until the Semis anyway. Even for the schools that did have to travel for the games, at least they deserved the game they were put in. It makes zero sense at all that district champions are 6 7 and 8 seeds. Teams were rewarded this year for playing cup cake games.

Can someone explain to me why the old playoff system was taken out and this new garbage system was brought in? I played in 5A from 2001-2004 and everything worked perfectly...

After making my post I realized, had Franklin won they would have been 9-1 and would have been ranked better. Whose to say though with the way that TSSAA is seeding teams this year that they would have had a better matchup? Anyway we look at it you have to beat the best to be the best. It still doesnt make sense that a District Champ is an 8 seed. This is why the TSSAA should not do seedings based on wins. If they continue to do it this way then regular season games are going to turn into cup cake games and high quality teams will not play other high quality teams. What i was thinking when I said that Franklin got the better end of the deal was based on their current matchups Franklin got the more favorable one. Still dont believe either Franklin or Brentwood will win, but like i said earlier, theres always hope.

In all honesty, as much as i hate Franklin losing to Brentwood, Franklin got the better end of the deal!

Im confused as to how two District Champs are first round matchups... I have not been around high school football since 2005 but is the TSSAA that much of a screw up these days? Brentwood beat Franklin, won District 11 and yet is the eigth seed while Franklin is the sixth seed? When I played in this Rivalry it was a good thing to win... Brentwood got screwed. Anyway, this will be a great game on Friday and I look for the winner of it to be favorites the rest of the way. Heres looking forward to another Brentood/Franklin game!

Havent seen either team play this year but I have followed Franklin and I hear a lot about Oakland as a friend of mine is a first year coach there. I think Oakland will pull this one off based on their regular season schedule. Oakland plays in a better district and played tougher non-district opponents. The toughest team Franklin played this year was Brentwood and from what I've heard from several people at the game the final score doesnt tell the whole story. I would love to see Franklin pull this one out but I truly believe Oakland is too much for the Rebels this week.

What's with the constant digs at the 04 team? May I ask what u are comparing them by? Region record? Exact same. Overall record. Exact same. State runner-up. Exact same. Only difference was the quality of opponent we played. Granted Oakland is good but they are no measure of the talent that riverdale put on the field in 04.
