  1. ok so McMillian who was considered the best player on the team last year is now not a true TB?.....Ok that makes sense I guess. Another excuse for you guys. You're right though, can't blame mears for the whole thing, but 5 ints doesn't help matters any. And lets see I am kind of a DB fan, I'd like to see my old school win a football title....not gonna happen this year, but it's ok, it will at some point I reckon, or as Clark says they'll eventually "kick that door in" Anyway, on the GC subject, I've watched them practice and let me tell you DB wouldn't stand a chance against GC this year, they're just too tough. DB would have the speed advantage, but it won't matter if they're getting hit all the time. Also, DB and GC scrimmaged in 97, GC "won" that scrimmage you could say and went on to win the state that year. And GC Quincy, I've seen ya on other boards man, love your posts dude keep'em up Real quick note to Scalpembaby, you're lucky I ain't in school with ya man lol cause I can tell ya you sound like a guy that would get picked on everyday by someone like me, football player or not lol But still game is tomorrow guess we'll see how everything turns out, may the best team win, and that none of the players get injured, don't ever wanna see that happen. Good luck to all
  2. Ok two things. First, speaking of last year I clearly stated that DB wouldn't win State because of the person at QB, not because of the Defense, or running game, or WRs, but because of the QB, and what happened in the semis? He throws 5 picks I think it was, but hey I guess we can all forget that huh? Now on to the second thing, I only talk the way I do cause I'm tired of DB fans saying how DB is gonna run all over North, now how do you know they will? How do we know that North may give DB the worst beating they ever had? You all talk about tradition and the "walk" and all that stuff, but come game time the team that wants it more is gonna win, and from what I've seen, it seems to be that North wants it more. Tomorrow night it'll be put to rest, may the best team win, if it's DB so be it, if it's North so be it, but one team will walk away with the win, and one thing we all know for sure, it's gonna be one heck of a game.
  3. Ah yes, here we go again with the whole "you must not have played" or the "did a football player beat you up in high school" routine, I find it funny cause I heard the same thing last season when I said DB wouldn't win a State title with the QB they had then....and I do believe I was right. Anyway, no axe to grind or grudge, just pointing out the obvious, and WaCo, you of all people should know a scrimmage means nothing, and if you wanna talk about scrimmages, lets talk about the one where Ferguson threw three ints on three straight possesions, but I guess you forgot all about that one huh? Back to the subject at hand, I'm just saying that a live game and the pressure of having to show that you're worthy of all the hype that is being laid upon you is a lot different than a scrimmage or practice. Plus if you look back, I did pick DB to win, just not by much is all. Just saying that if he gets rattled DB will have a hard time. Gotta love DB fans, how they get defensive when someone says something bad about their team lol But anyway we'll see what happens come game time.
  4. Hmmmmm...I thought.....<looks back over old posts>....yep I see....Wasn't it someone on here that said DB players don't run their mouths??....Guess I'm just seeing things. Two things that I know for sure. First, if North gets pressure on DB's new QB he'll get rattled, and once he gets rattled it's all over but the hurting, cause DB is pretty thin at QB this year, seeing how not one of their QBs has any game experience at the Varsity level, and I don't care if Lamon Williams is lining up at WR or not, if the QB can't get him the ball he won't make a difference. Secondly.....I'll pick DB to win, but by no more than 6. Also, you guys are wrong, DB has a lot to gain by beating North, they'll show that they're fine and not having a down year, but slip up just once and North will beat'em. Side note though, I bet DB couldn't beat North in baseball lol
  5. Ok real quick, I don't care how many WRs you think DB has, the only proven WR is Williams. Oline is all new except for maybe one or two people, that can cause problems when they face a Dline that is more experienced. Three, DB has a new QB who has yet to see any real considerable playing time, and it's a lot different story when you're getting blitzed from every angle than pracitcing or doing a scrimmage. Running game is alright with Flannary back there, but if the Oline can't open holes then well he won't go anywhere. I don't see DB getting beat by North, but I don't see them winning by a lot either. One last thing, DB players always run their mouths, just not on here.
  6. Not on ya back man, just making sure everyone knew the fact is all
  7. Nice to see that WaCo left out the fact that the Ferguson kid threw 3 ints on three straight possesions. If that's any indication on how the season is gonna be for DB, it looks like this could be a loooooooooong year for them.
  8. Quick note to you Jpat, that game you're talking about is the same game that DB's starting freshman QB broke his hand in the first quarter. Now I do assure you had he not broke his hand I very seriously doubt Jeff Co. would've won that game, cause the QB that game was Erwin, and seeing how I know his brother I know for a fact that Erwin is a more talented QB than who ever Jeff. Co. had starting that year as their Freshman QB. So you just think about that, oh and guess what? Erwin plays defense now and he's bigger and stronger and can hit very, very hard. So I hope your QB this year has some good rib protector's cause he's gonna need them if Erwin gets to him
  9. Well Tribe1 I do know who you are and if you are who you claim to be then you knows Joe's brother who also went to DB, cause I know I do, but if you don't know him then you probably aren't Joe's cousin. Anyway back to the subject if you think a team with no Offensive line and a new QB is gonna make the playoffs then well you leave in a dream world. And apparently Clark isn't much of a motivator cause I saw the meltdown in the playoffs, did you? Anyway keep thinking they're gonna make the playoffs and we'll see who's right.
  10. First off I would like to address Tribe1, you my friend know nothing about football, I am sorry but you don't. Now I did graduate from DB and I know what I see when I look at this team this year, three offensive starters returning do not make for a good season, I don't care how big an arm this kid has without an offensive line and just getting to know all the plays will take some time. Now if you played I would like to know what year cause I can tell you right now if you played while I was there, you didn't see much playing time, unless you're someone I know personally and I knew a lot of the starters during my four years at DB. Yes it has been a while since DB did not make the playoffs but this could be the year they don't. And was I not right when I said DB would not win a State Title last year? I do believe I was, case closed. Ok on to the Defense, Erwin is a playmaker, I remember listening to the games on the radio and hearing his name called numerous times, he should start on defense I think, shoot he's an athelete so I say just put him on the field some where and let him play. The Defense will keep DB close all year, it'll be up to the Offense to score, whether or not they do that remains to be seen.
  11. sounds about right, Flanary, Williams and Gaines.....not much on offense this year, Defense should be ok though.
  12. I've seen this kid pratice and I saw him in the intersquad scrimmage DB had a few weeks ago. This kid has a strong arm that is true, but from what I saw of the offensive line he won't have time to throw and well he didn't exactly make good reads either. Example, in one practice the kid followed Williams straight down the sideline, never once looking to his left. Maybe it's just me but he should learn to go through his reads before looking straight to Williams, cause if they play a team with an experienced secondary that kid will get picked off all day long for doing stuff like that. Yeah DB hasn't been beat by Jeff Co. since Clark came along, but we all saw what happened at Greenville last year right? Point is don't count out a team because of some stupid stat. Also the only way I see DB getting to the playoffs is if their Defense plays well cause it's apparent that the Offense is gonna need some time to get better. But anyway best of luck to DB this year, heaven knows they're gonna need it.
  13. If a team has a good qb, one who makes the other team's defense respect the pass, then the running game will open up. Also if the qb has at least a little bit of mobility then that's a plus. But a good QB who can make good decisions and can read defenses then you'll have a good chance of winning.
  14. that's 23 yards a catch, he's the best WR in east tn by production
  15. Actually CMoore the stats I was looking at were the ones that you posted, I mean it's not that hard to figure out the yards per catch, just take the total yards and divide that by the number of catches. Also if I'm not mistaken Williams got 178 yards on 7 catches against Riverdale. So that would give him 854 yards on 41 catches for the year. Looks like in the end it was Williams with the better production, oh and if that's hard for you to figure out then I'll tell ya, that's averaging 21 yards per catch. Now I ain't too sure about that whole qb situation, maybe the Science Hill qb is better than Mears, but I think it was Mears who lead the conference in passing yards and he also lead his team to the Semis of the state playoffs, how far did your qb take his team???
  16. Ya know Williams may have not lead the conference in recieving but it's funny that ya bring up those stats cause Scott averaged 18.5 yards a catch while Williams averaged 20 yards a catch. Simply put if Williams had 46 catches then he would've had 920 yards which, compared to Scott's 851 yards is a difference of 69 yards. So lets not be throwing stats around when you obviously don't know how to compare them. And williams didn't have to score a lot of touchdowns with the weapons DB had. So stop complaining cause DB beat Science Hill.
  17. Honkylips is right. I'll put my opinions about Clark aside cause this is as good a chance as any DB team has had to get to the finals. Mears is playing good and protecting the ball and the running game is where it needs to be. If the defense played like it did last night then they should do just fine against Riverdale. But just to let y'all know I won't be able to make he trip to Riverdale but I will be listening on the radio. Go Tribe!!
  18. ok Champ I don't know what game you were watching but DB didn't play Maryville this year, I know they scrimmaged them but they didn't play them. Might want to get your facts straight there. Also if you say he can't cover anyone then you might want to talk to the rest of the secondary about covering people cause I've seen a few times were #19 had to run down a man that wasn't his man to cover i.e. the South game. Go back and look at that and you'll notice that he ran down South's runningback a few times there. Lets not be throwing stones at someone until you take a look at the rest of that defense also. Oh and I'm sure he could cover you on his on one of his off days.
  19. ya know firefly I've noticed that you don't like anyone that does not agrees with your opinion. I mean you even called 64tnchamp an old fossil and all he was doing was talking about a coach that he thought was a great coach. Everyone has their opinions on here and they are entitled to them, but you shouldn't be calling people names or saying that a player is so bad that the team does better without him. I just hope #19 doesn't see what you put cause I'm sure that not only would that make him mad but I'm sure it probably put a dent in his confidence. So I hope you're happy with what you've said, cause I only criticized a coach's decision making, I wasn't saying that a player was bad. Grant I might have given Mears a hard time earlier this year but I never once said that he was bad, I only stated that I thought they should try a change. Unlike you, saying that #19 is so bad that as soon as he was benched the defense got better. You know nothing about football except certain facts and stats. I've watched #19 play and I can say that he has played hard all year long. If that makes him a bad player then well I guess he'll just have to stay bad, cause I'm sure he's gonna give it his all every time he steps onto the field. So sit there and talk all you want but when it comes down to it, he was robbed of his spot and hopefully this won't cause him to not want to play anymore. So #19 if you do happen to read this, let me be the first to say, good job on a great year and I hope you play for DB next year and I know if you do you'll have another great year.
  20. Now I don't know about you but I ain't seen that much improvement from the DB defense. First off they struggled to put away Science Hill, grant both teams played good defense but they still should've put'em away earlier. William Blount wasn't even in that game to begin with, they were overmatched. So lets turn out attention to the Oak Ridge game. Now DB had the lead in the fourth quarter but guess what? They blew the lead, guess that improvement must really make a difference huh? Now that's three games and in three games they struggled in two. Some improvement. You might want to check out everything before ya go and say that the defense got better since he's been out. Now he started at LB tonight, not his spot at least he was on the field and I listened to the game on the radio while I watched it and I heard his name get called alot. Guess he must not be too good if he's always there huh? So you might wanna watch what ya say is all I'm saying
  21. Ok Firefly, you say I shouldn't be on here bad mouthing Coach Clark. Well too bad! What I don't get is, why is he starting a Kicker over a Safety? I mean come on #19 has started every game this year except for the first one. After that he's been all over that field. If ya didn't listen to the radio during the South game, and I for one did, #19 got he defensive player of the game that week, and that was the very first game he started. But hey what do I know right? #19 has just been playing great football all year but I guess if he misses one game then ya gotta take his spot from him. Well if that be the case then why is McMillan still at Runningback? Cause I don't remember but I know McMillan missed more than one game. Shoot Flanary did just fine without him and the DB secondary did just fine without McMillan also. You know it's a real shame to see a kid with that much talent get demoted to special teams because he missed ONE game!!! Still ole Clark knows what he's doing alright, yep sure does, lets bench #19 and put the kicker in there. Oh and just for good measure lets have McMillan at the other Safety spot just to take up space. Yeah that's some fine coaching right here, and people wonder why DB has not won a state title while Clark has been head coach. Hmmmmmmmm, I wonder why????
  22. Boy you ain't cocky one bit are you? If I was you I wouldn't be putting something on here that is just going to fire up the jeff county players, but I guess it's a little late for that. Also a quick note, I never knew a starter could lose is position cause he was out one game. I'm talking bout #19 he hasn't started since he was out the Science Hill game, fact is he didn't even play in the Oak Ridge game except for special teams, maybe it's just me but I don't think I would sit the guy that has started at Safety all year. But hey we all know Clark's decision making is kinda iffy come playoff time.
  23. #19 for Dobyns-Bennett, second in tackles on the team. He's got size, at 6'2 180 maybe 185, and speed, if anyone saw him run down South's RB then you'll know what I'm talking about. He hits hard, just ask Lister of Greeneville. Not much on interceptions though cause I think he only has one.
  24. Now I don't know if he ranks up there with the hardest hitting defensivebacks in the state but the hit that #19 from Dobyns-Bennett layed on Lister from Greeneville was pretty good
