  1. See the previous posts on Chris Rezabek from Bolton HS in Shelby Co. 12 games into their season, he's posted a .405 avg. with 17 hits and 12 RBI's, including a 10-game hit streak to open the season. Defensively, only yielded one stolen base. Occasionally, they use his great arm and athleticism at 3rd base. Top catching prospect in the Memphis/West TN region.
  2. Of the teams I've seen this early season, Farragut can send up a lineup of strong sticks - top to bottom - that can rival anyone. The "team" carries a strong "hitter's mentality" that can positively affect each player. Very disciplined and quite impressive in the Worth Showcase Tournament last weekend.

    Germantown

First of all, Kyle Norrid is now playing baseball for the Big Orange in Knoxville, so he's not in the Germantown lineup. Alex Kliman is an impressive player with a great stick and commitment to Ole Miss. Chris Matesich is a solid athlete at SS and Drew Smith gives them a reliable starter. But there were just too many holes to fill from last year's graduating class, so most in this area see Houston as the team to beat, especially in their district. Can't live on history now that Phil Clark is gone.
  4. Saw the impressive field and grandstand at Tullahoma HS during the Worth Tournament this weekend. Would rank that facility in any Top Ten.
  5. Anyone following Memphis-area baseball could tell you that Houston's squad is the team to beat in AAA. Don't reward Germantown based solely on their HISTORY, since Phil Clark has now moved on.
  6. While Farragut is an impressive hitting team, they are not as invincible as many may want you to believe. In their game against Bolton on Saturday, they fell behind 9-3 to an equally strong hitting Bolton squad and their own sloppy play at times. Kudos to the determination of their boys in coming from behind to win 11-10 in 8 innings, but against a Bolton pitching staff that was forced to save its strongest pitchers for an Away/Home series on Mon/Tues with its toughest district rival Munford. While these pre-district tournament games give coaches the opportunity to work their entire pitching staff, everyone knows that you must plan for and save your best for district play. Farragut is a solid squad and will more likely find their way back to the Spring Fling, but consider the Bolton game as a "wake-up" call for continued improvement.
  7. Houston and Munford will be the teams to beat in AAA. Others with solid chances are Germantown, Collierville, Bolton and Cordova.
  8. John Lalor - Houston Rawley Bishop - Houston Zach Cozart - Collierville Chris Rezabek - Bolton Chris Stevenson - Bolton Brett Jenne - Cordova Matt Akin - Munford Clay Wright - Munford
  9. The Mid-South Holiday Showcase was held Saturday at Dulin's Sports Academy in Cordova (outside Memphis). Around 110 invited players attended -- about 60% Seniors and 40% Juniors. Of the Junior catchers, Chris Rezabek from Bolton had the most impressive all-around workout in front of some 15 college coaches and 7 or so MLB scouts. Impressive size (6'3"/195lbs) with sub-2.0 POP Time, great gun with all throws on the bag, bat speed of 70, and the best receiving technique as indicated by an evaluating Dulin's instructor. Best of the best of the 2004 class in the Memphis Mid-South area.
  10. Indeed, Germantown will field a strong team again this year, but it will be hard for them to plug all the holes left when they lost so much senior talent last year. Strictly my opinion, Houston has all the pitching, postion players and depth to be the team to beat in their district. Should be quite a shootout when Houston and Germantown square off.
  11. Will be like going from the penthouse (G'town) to the outhouse for Clark. Local word has it that current Sr/Jr talent is so thin that he doesn't expect to really compete for at least two years. A once-strong Bartlett program has seen cross-town rival Bolton steadily improve at their expense the last 5 years, including 11 straight losses to Bolton. Munford will be the team to beat in the district, returning all but two players from a state tournament team last year. Germantown will be solid again, but may lose the top spot in their district to a Houston team that appears to have no weaknesses in their lineup and depth at pitching. Future success at Bartlett will rest on Clark's ability to keep the good players at home and effectively "encouraging" others to move (or transfer) there. He's done it before.....
  12. Stu Pomeranz - Houston Lance Scoggins - Bolton
  13. One of the best left-handed pitchers in Mid-South area is Lance Scoggins, a Senior at Bolton HS. Fastball is a 90mph, one of the best ######'s around, and an 8-0 record last summer as a 17-yr-old pitching for Dulin's Dodgers "A" team. Definitely a prospect!
  14. Chris Rezabek from Bolton HS has good physical size (6'3" 195 lbs) with a strong accurate arm and solid defensive skills. Recorded Pop Times from 1.93-1.98 and Caught Stealing ratio of >75%. Good stick with .375 avg, 5 HR and 40+ RBI. Was one of only four sophs selected to 2002 TBCA Worth Showcase Region 7/8 Team. Played 2002 Fall baseball with premiere Dulin's Dodgers Varsity Elite All-Star Travel Team, batting .458 (11 for 24) with 11 RBI and 8 BB in nine Fall games. Will play with Dulin's Dodgers next two summer seasons. Also a good student with 3.2 GPA.
  15. 2003 leaders should be Houston, Germantown, and Munford, with Bolton, JCM and Jackson Northside competing.
  16. Both were Sophs in 2002, now Juniors. Was one of only four sophs selected to TBCA Worth Showcase Region 7/8 Team. Playing fall baseball with premiere Dulins Dodgers Varsity Select team, as well as next two summer seasons. The other top prospect is Edward Easley from Olive Branch (MS) HS. Solid bat with good defensive skills. Played last two summers with the Dulins Dodgers program, winning the AAU 17-Under Championship this past summer. Two great kids to watch their further development.
