  1. Matt Ince and Stephen Moore - Bolton HS
  2. Friday night @ 7:00pm is correct...for AAA Championship
  3. DEFINITELY tryout for the TBCA team from your region. My son (now freshman playing D1 ball) was selected for the Region 7/8 team prior to both his junior and senior seasons. Great exposure to college coaches and scouts, as well as three competitive games against Tennessee's best HS talent. It's conducted by the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association -- a class organization with a first-class event. Consider it an honor that he was invited to tryout and tell him to go for it!!
  4. For three seasons (son graduated last year), I handled the announcing and the music before/during/after the game for his high school home games. It is my belief that the PREGAME music -- while the teams are throwing and loosening up -- should be for the PLAYERS -- what they wanted to hear. The parents and fans will continue to arrive up to the first pitch, so not so much targeted to the audience since it was pretty much background music. Once the game got underway, there are only 30-45 sec. at the end of each half inning DURING THE GAME to play music. So we tried to play more great standards that the AUDIENCE would appreciate and sprinkle in some popular songs the players would like -- all upbeat of course. POSTGAME doesn't give you much time -- while the crowd is leaving and the players/coaches are preparing the field/tarp for the next game -- so we were pretty random in our song choices and always kept it upbeat. We had quite a few songs at our disposal, so not sure if this addresses the "best song" question, but will give some insight on how we selected songs to play. thumb
  5. Westview will recover...and quickly for next season. They lose only one senior and Crittendon will be back. You'll see them make a run again next year. There is no quit to these girls -- and Coach McMillan will see to that.
  6. 1st Round - Great news for a special player! Will he sign or still headed to Vandy? Congratulations to Kyle and his family!
  7. Josh Lyles (or Liles) - USJ Matt Ince - Bolton Robbie Graham - Cordova Have seen these young men play - all played varsity in their first year - and they absolutely must be on this list.
  8. Congratulations to the Tennessee high school players selected: http://www.tbca.org/2004%20Team%20Tennesse...r%20Sunbelt.htm http://www.tbca.org/2004_team_tennessee%20soph.htm
  9. Congratulations on an all-West TN final and a championship for the Milan Bulldogs! What a dominating season! Have any of Milan's senior players signed to play college ball? Or are they considering scholarship offers?
  10. Congratulations to Goodpasture! One of the most impressive Single A teams I've seen in years. Special congrats to Hoop -- will connect with you again this fall.

  12. Opperman - Did you have a final on the Farragut - Hunters Lane game? Thanks!
  13. Well stated, 99 - from someone who has been there in the heat of competition. Also, you're a class act yourself and very best to you at Faulkner.
  14. Opperman reports the final score in another thread as: Munford 11 Columbia 3
  15. My son and I had the pleasure to become acquainted with E.T. and his dad at a showcase two years ago. E.T. has greatly contributed to the continuing success of the Rockwood program and no one is more dedicated or works harder on the field. It was great to speak with your dad again and an honor to watch you play in the state tournament this year. We wish you the very best as you begin your college career at Faulkner. Rockwood is losing one solid leader and especially one fine young man!
  16. Must be Pee-Wee's for CBHS. Do we all smell a little CROW cooking? Or just a little KingFish?
  17. Anyone have a score from this 10:00am game? TSSAA.org not helpful...

  19. Major props to the Cougars for making the Spring Fling three years in a row! Playing in District 14-AAA against these guys has been quite tough, but watching them grow into fine young men has been a pleasure. Bolton is behind you 100% in your quest for a state championship! Congratulations!

In the West Region, CBHS defeated Harding 10-0 to earn the Regional Championship.
  21. If you have the skills, the scouts will notice and contact you. My son has completed personal information and medical questionnaires for some 15 MLB teams, had individual workouts for 3 teams and another coming up in a couple of weeks, and has seen or spoken with a scout or scouts almost every other game now. He has been tested, interviewed and is on file with the MLB Scouting Bureau, which called Saturday for a 20-minute "signability" conference call. Contact is increasing now that May is here and the draft rolls around in June. It is actually very exciting to be caught up in the process. I would say that if you are a senior and have not been contacted or had a scout looking at you during one of your games, chances are that you may not be selected this year. That leaves room for college or junior college ball to help improve your skills and your opportunities in the coming years. Good luck!
  22. Grad - You SHOULD be proud of your alma mater's baseball program! Bolton HS played the Owls in last year's SD Trojan Classic and lost a 4-3 or 5-4 heartbreaker in eight innings. What caught my eye was the intensity and competitiveness of the entire squad -- which never gave up until they had scrapped out a win. Bolton again played in this year's classic beating Coffee County, Chattanooga Central and Red Bank and was pool runner-up to McCallie -- which came from behind for a close 5-3 win. The pool winners advanced to the semi's, then a championship game was played. With their defeat of McCallie, no question Ooltewah earned their tournament championship. Let no one else say otherwise. I commend your support of the Ooltewah program.
  23. My son had the opportunity to catch Will Powell at the TBCA Showcase last year. Says he has all the pitches, a fastball with some pop, and can hit his spots. Coach Keith Kessinger must have recognized his potential and offered a scholarship. Regrets that Will is going to Ark State and not part of the UT Martin recruiting class. Other than his bio on Top Tennessee 2004 Players, can anyone provide an assessment of Miles Moore from Crockett County HS?
