  1. I asked this question at the parent meeting.. What will be recorded with the TSSAA concerning the TSSAA Class A championship? The Chairman of the USJ Board responded, USJ's name would be listed by champion with an asterick *saying forfeiture due to inadvertently playing a ineligible player. That's what we were told.
  2. Not once did a parent come to me and say I am behind in my tuition. I guess who ever it was told everyone in town but me.
  3. First off, I'm really mad about this ... My son Andrew was a senior last year. It was not a pleasant phone call he recieved from us yesterday. Tell Hunter Garrett who gave up 18 inches of his small intestine and came back to help his team win a state championship, tell Spencer Nelson who pitched the state championship game with a finger on his pitching hand filled with puss and swollen, tell Brian who broke state tournament records, tell Andrew who led the tournament in batting avg., tell Kennedy who waited all season to pitch, tell Ryan.. tell William .. tell them all... I was at the meeting yesterday....The team gave alot to this school and gave it alot of great free publicity in the sports section of the paper. Anyone that knows them knows their character and the commintment they gave to the 2005 season. Right now I guess the last thing I want to hear is how we (USJ) stepped up and did the right thing. We are very disappointed. Bottom line is it should have never happened. We expect the kids to know the rules and go by them and I expect the school adminstration to do the same. As far as we are concerned we are the 2005 Class A State Champions. We had the dog pile, we have the pictures ( with the TSSAA trophy), we have the highlight video of the season.. We have the state championship rings , we have the memories... nothing or noone can take that from us. I do not blame any player or parents for this, we all have had hardships at some point in our lives. This was written by a mom and her emotions, forgive me if I have stepped on feelings
  4. We missed you being there to celebrate with us! The guys asked David Brandt where you were . Yes he would ( me posting) ... but hey ... I'm so proud of these guys, I can't help it.. Jeremy, you would have been proud. You were there thru the ups the downs, all the football injuries.... the loss to Davidson.. when we were 1 strike from State Champs 3 times, back to back to back . This one was sweet.. As Andrew said "What a way to go out"! He will be continuing his education and baseball at Maryville College. Will Wallace got appointments to both West Point and the Naval Academy, he will be playing baseball and football at the Naval Academy. You're right about Greg... we're all headed to Tunica! Have a great picture of Andrew catching the last out as Ryan is holding his arms up in Victory. I will email it to you... What paper are you at in Arkansas?
  5. 684 Great action shots of USJ and FCS teams. Pics of all championship games. Great job Mark Lucas State Championship game pics
  6. Friday I attended my last high baseball game that I would have a son playing in. We have 3 sons so the past 9 years we have been to many high school games. Been to the state tournament 8 times, brought home two state championships, two runner-ups and four 3rd place finishes. This is a game I have loved and hated all at the same time. Today I have a smile on my face that will not go away but there is some heaviness in my heart...he played his last game as a Bruin yesterday, he took his last at bat ( a double) caught his last line drive ( the final out to win state) God Bless all the Seniors, their moms and dads . Nathan, Parker and Andrew thanks for the memories.
  7. Coach Dyer is a humble man, the players and parents love him and respect him. When I say this I have nothing to gain my son was a senior and played his last game for Dyer Friday. He ( Dyer) had huge shoes to fill (Carey) when he came to USJ and has done a great job. He can motivate the boys, all season we talked of a championship.. he knows his boys and they know him. He had a special group of boys this year that refused to be 2nd . He had to lock the the indoor batting cages so they would take a day off, their work ethic was impressive . He gave them Sunday off before the state tournament, or so he thought.... after church Sunday Andrew and Ryan called a practice without him they wanted him to be with his wife and kids. Friday 5:00am (championship day)Spencer and Ryan couldn't sleep they went in the parking lot of the hotel and hit wiffle balls. Ryan, Andrew, Hunter, Josh , Spencer would hit in the dark after a double header because Coach Dyer would turn the lights off at the field to make them go home and rest . It is not easy coaching a kid that demands perfection of himself, but when you have a team loaded with them you have your work cut out, I sure many days he ( Dyer) felt like a sports therapist. The USJ Baseball players are glad coach Dyer is their coach, every coach has his style. He has never cussed a player, tore them down, he is a positive motivator and THAT IS HIS WAY. The team would go to the end of the earth for him . Note remember that when reading a quote in the paper it's not always as as it seems.
  8. Necvol, this was done at other games I was at a Goodpasture game at state and a HR was hit the umps made the teams stand back . So no it was not against USJ. We are enjoying our state championship crown. no crying here! Bruins State Champs '05
  9. Every person needs to have their moment in the sun. When they can raise their arms in Victory, knowing on this day,at his very hour, They were at their best! USJ Bruins State Champs 05 Congratulations to all players and coaches.
  10. Is there any way we can get the stats and play by play from you for the USJ games at Barlett? Noticed that all of them but the last USJ vs Harriman game is up on TSSAA site. Thanks it was was good to meet you. Bruins State Champs 05
  11. What is the name of the park in Barlett the games will be played at? What exit it the Sycamore View exit? Thanks... wishing Safe travel to all teams, families and fans attending Spring Fling in Memphis. Stop off in Jackson for some good eats
  12. Yesterday afternoon senior OF for USJ Hunter Garrett had surgery to repair a lower intestinal tear . Surgery went very well and he will be in the hospital for 4-5 more days. Please keep Hunter and family in your prayers. The trauma MD said he usually sees this type of injury in a car wreck when someone hits the steering wheel at about 70 miles an hour. The injury was caused from a collison with another teammate W. Wallace. Both where in full speed and stride when the collison occurred. Wallace is sore but no major injuries to him. Hunter will be out for 6 weeks. Once again please keep Hunter in your prayers.
  13. Way to go Lady Bruins! Congrats to you! I know it was a tough game for Courtney Alvey and Becca Morris to play today after hearing the news that a friend passed away this morning. She would have been so excited for you girls....
