  1. After seeing both teams as they've played against Greenbrier in the last two weeks, I just don't see much of a way that Page can pull off this upset. Marshall seems to have everything that it needs to go deep in the season this year. While Greenbrier did move the ball fairly well against Marshall, we gave up four big plays that just killed us. Page seems to have some athletes but there seems to be a lack of "team focus" and an over-abundance of attitude. (How a coach can allow a couple of the players to wear the Pippi Longstocking socks is beyond me) If Page could suddenly "get focused", they could have a chance in this one but I just don't see it. Marshall seems to be really strong but I would have to question the coaches decisions the past two weeks of having so many starters still in the game when it's late and the game is over. That would be a tough way to lose an athlete. Good luck to both teams!

"(Trust me...we dont claim Memphis as a part of West Tn.)" I have to love this quote. I'd feel the same way.
  3. Don't forget Al Wilson out of Memphis.

  5. Your still incorrect. If we had a WR outside of the end, why is your corner #9 lined up in the box? I have the entire field in my view and there are no players, from either team, outside of our end. I have our eleven players and your eleven players paused on my screen. This is absolutely hilarious! yea the did have trips left but look to the far right at the end of the play and u will see are corner and then a wide reciever. [Edited by NoDoubt on 10-7-02 10:32P]
  6. Sorry guys. You'll have to do better than this. I'm looking at the tape as I type this. Greenbrier is lined up in "Trips Left". From left to right: Split End #42, Slot Back #33, Left Wing #30, Left Tackle #79, Left Guard #67, Center #51, Right Guard #72, Right Tackle #66, Right End #89, FB #15, and QB #16. That equals eleven.
  7. I watched the Marshall/Sycamore game on Saturday night. Marshall does have an impressive looking team. The have all the elements that they needed to win it all. Although the game was over early in the 1st quarter, Marshall still had several starters playing throughout the 3rd quarter. Maybe not the entire starting squads but I was still seeing several of the same jersey numbers late in the game. Maybe they have several young players that start? Greenbrier will have to play a mistake-free game to be able to stay in this one. Good luck to both teams.
  8. Bulldog, the quip was directed at Coachhard, not at Page. It's odd that we each have game tapes but ours show the ball coming out when the player hits the ground and yours shows a fumble. There wasn't even any discussion between the refs and there wasn't even a beanbag thrown on the play. Can that many refs, who have no association with Greenbrier whatsoever, all blow the same call? Maybe Greenbrier can say that if the refs hadn't blown the holding call on our successful two-point conversion, we would have won 14 to 13. We had 3 calls for a lineman down field on 3 passing plays. It's a joke to have this call made three times in a highschool game. Calls, good or bad, go both ways.
  9. I just looked it up in my TSSAA Football Handbook and the book quotes; "Running out of hamburgers and/or cold drinks by halftime is only a punishable offense if it is deemed that such act was done to intentionally increase the sell of popcorn and/or candy." In that this was ot the case, this arguement can't be used.
  10. I just watched a tape of the hit and the ball never came out until the contact with the ground was made. I watched it in a frame by frame mode and it was a killer hit but there was no fumble. Congratulations to each team for a hard-fought football game.
  11. Last years game really wasn't "dominated" by either team. Page was throwing quiet a bit early and was moving the ball fairly well. Greenbrier picked up the momentum late with a long drive and took the game to OT. Why Page chose to go away from the passing game is one that the coaches would have to answer. As for tonight, the weather should be fine but the field will be wet. Greenbrier has been a "keep it on the ground and grind it out" team so far this year so the wet field really isn't as much of an issue as it could be. Does Page rely on the pass as much as they did last year? This should be an exciting, close game. Good luck!
  12. After hearing about the tragic death of the young man last night, it kind of puts everything into perspective. My sympathy and prayers go out to the family and friends of this young man. This is a game that we all love but it's still just that...A Game. These are just kids that are out on the field trying to do just what we want them to do. Play well and win the game. They've already put in months and even years in some cases, to try to do what they're doing as best as they can. We should all keep this in mind when we get frustrated or upset with how a game is going and decide to yell our opinions at the players. I sat in the Greenbrier stands last night and had to listen to a "fan" for four quarters. It's one thing if you're bad-mouthed by the other team but to have to listen to it in your on stands is pathetic. My hat's off to WH. They were the better team no doubt. They beat us at every aspect of the game. You guys have a good team that's playing well and getting better. We didn't play as well as we've been playing and we just weren't ready for this game. But to have to listen to "fans" continually bad-mouth the boys playing on the field is sad. These "fans" won't clap or cheer when something good happens but they'll sure let everyone hear their opinion when something goes wrong. A group of us had to listen to a "fan" complain when someone missed a tackle. I'm sure if the player had a the choice, he would have rather had made the tackle. He missed it! Get over it. Cheer the next play. This "fan" complained once because the ball wasn't thrown to the tight end who was open across the middle. I guess the "fan" couldn't pick up on that this was a called screen pass to the FB. The "fan" complained because a player called a fair catch at his own 8. Did the fan realize that the coach had told the player to specifically do this to keep the ball from being downed at the goal? If you have a gripe with a player, keep it to yourself, they're only kids and they're someone elses son. If you have a gripe with the coach, don't complain in the stands; take it to him personally. One "fan" can totally ruin the game for a group of true fans. The tragedy that occured last night sure makes complaining about a kid missing a block or over-throwing a pass seem trivial.
  13. I have to agree with H-Daddy. After hearing about a young man dying, it kind of makes everything else seem not so important. My sympathy and prayers go out to the family and friends of this young man. This is a game that we all love but it's still just that...A Game. 14. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Yeah badmouthed, I believe you called it blue devil punks and also said Greenbrier had no respect for it. You also stated "after Greenbrier wins at WHHS" on another thread. No wonder you're so bad at picking games, when you think your opinion was what I was talking about. Please, opinion away!!!That's your right and what these boards are about. BADMOUTH=NO RESPECT. DO YOU KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT NOW?? Guys! Guys!....This NON REGION game is OVER. "WH won, BDP, Greenbrier "can't" beat WH," blah, blah, blah. Let's move on...This game didn't do anything for either team except give one more W or L. After the experience I had last night just being around the game (see Mean Rival post), I think maybe we adults should set a better example for these kids. This game was not life or death....what happened to the Forrest player last night was. Let's put this rivalry into perspective...we're "neighbors."
