  1. That’s a heck of a night! One that came to my mind was in 2004 Greenbrier vs Montgomery Central. Roger Herndon had 271 on the ground and 5 TDs. All the scores came in the first half. Pretty certain that stands as our school record for single game, I know it is at least for rushing yardage. Then... Of course, I wasn’t alive, but I’ve always heard stories about the legend of Al Bundy. He once scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School. Also noted that he scored the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, "Spare Tire" Dixon.

  7. Rumors in this town are a fun thing to hear... but thats all they are good for is a laugh. THere have only been three head coaches in the past 20 something years... I dont think its time to make it a fourth... I dont doubt that the day that he leaves will come... but hey... LETS THINK POSITIVE HERE! He and the staff (both current and past) have done wonders for this program...and it can only go UP! TO THE VERY TOP! NO ELEVATORS! (wow... I have been around this too long...) BUT... we have a bigger question... How will the Cats fare this season? Crusing around the boards... there are quite a few bold statements on the way the region will go... and Im confident in the boys abilites... another playoff season I say... Quoting my self from the 4-3A post: I love to hear how the Bobcats are always "young" and "rebuilding" and "down" (NOT ANYONES DIRECT QUOTES!) and all that jazz... it really gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling to think of that when we prove people wrong... only then do they start to talk good things... While they may be young, they are experienced...yeah, we lost some seniors...BUT WHO DIDNT? Just give em a chance. We looked great agains Springfield (IMOPO)...(also, Im not so sure what SF had to offer) they looked like something I havent seen in a while... a solid team. ...I love Greenbrier just as much as anyone does... and I have seen the best and the worst in my 20 years of life... As much as I would like to say we would win the region one more time before the shake up...I dont see us finishing better than 4th or (hopefully not) 5th...but... we are just as good as we want to be... but... Its just another season to come... this has been my favorite region to play in and watch since we joined way back when... prepare to shock the masses I guess...but its one game at a time...and it starts tonight.... Four and a half hours to go... I can see the flags waving from my vantage point already! Last years PJP game had me on the edge of my seat the whole time... and I expect nothing less tonight. YOU GOTTA LOVE THAT WEEK ZERO! Go GREEN!
  8. so....after weeks of reading...I have decided I should get in on this hooplah.... I think Catfish might just have it as far as the region goes... but I just want to say I think Greenbrier will give Macon a run for their money...that game last year should have gone the other way...just saying...I believe there was some other focus somewhere else in the state that night... Also... Greenbrier owns Sycamore... just look at the past... although the past has nothing to do with now does it? again...just saying.... I love to hear how the Bobcats are always "young" and "rebuilding" and "down" (NOT ANYONES DIRECT QUOTES!) and all that jazz... it really gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling to think of that when we prove people wrong... only then do they start to talk good things... While they may be young, they are experienced...yeah, we lost some seniors...BUT WHO DIDNT? Just give em a chance. We looked great agains Springfield (IMOPO)...(also, Im not so sure what SF had to offer) they looked like something I havent seen in a while... a solid team. Ogor... I love Greenbrier just as much as anyone does... and I have seen the best and the worst in my 20 years of life... but I cant agree that we will finish 2nd. As much as I would like to say we would win the region one more time before the shake up...I dont see us finishing better than 4th or (hopefully not) 5th... but... Its just another season to come... this has been my favorite region to play in and watch since we joined... prepare to shock the masses I guess...but its one game at a time...and it starts tonight.... best of luck to the entire region Ill say (except White House... because I was raised to hate you... KIDDING!) Go Green!
  9. Im extending luck to Heritage here... I know theyd love to take on Jo Byrns again... /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  10. This has got to be the longest thread I have ever read through... its fun though... thats what this board is for. However, all the real talking will be on the field on friday night. I hope that there haven't been any PLAYERS posting on here... beleive me, I know how much trouble you can get in based on a personal experience! /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Greenbrier players are better than that... and we have shown it time in and time out... I even think we were awared the A.F. Bridges award this year.....as PT Barnum once said: "In anything you do in life, do it right, do it big and give it class!" Regardless...This team is in for a special treat this week... for the ones that have "been there" before... they have never made a trip like this to play a game... and for the ones who haven't... they too have never made a trip like this before... How they will be mentally is all up to them. 4 hours (give or take) is a long ride to focus on a game... *quick question: Are they planning on a stop to eat??? That is dangerous...or at least in my opinion it is* After 3 straight heartbreaking losses, I am confident that the Bobcats will bounce back and bring it all to McMinn (central, county, city...whatever)....This team has made a major turnaround as compared to last year, and I know these seniors arent ready to quit yet! In the playoffs... everyone is good... its 0-0 now... STAY FOCUSED! Im gonna sit back a moment and agree that the Covington game was by far the coldest game...ever... And Im thrilled that the coaches are getting some cred back a couple of pages... they have a great staff of dedicated men... all of them know what it takes... but do the players?? That will be seen on friday... GOOD LUCK GREEN!!!
  11. hahahahaha... I remember that "Streak" parody... as much as I hated it at the time... I did laugh... I also would like to thank Coach Porter and his snippet in the Tennessean today... he made us sound like a million bucks! I would also like to add a correction... he said: "When you look back at the last 10 years and look at what they've done; they've been to the finals once (suffering a 34-6 lost to Knoxville Fulton in 2004); they've been to the semis (2003 semifinals) another time; they won four straight region championships; they're going to dress 90 kids; and they have a four-million-dollar remodelization of their stadium. Them and Station Camp are two of the hottest programs around. When you look at what (Greenbrier head coach) Kirk Williams and his program has done, it's pretty awesome.??? we only won three in a row region titles... 2002 was the runner-up year /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Im still trying to find where how many times the schools have "been to the Boro" is gonna decide this fight... but thats whatever I guess... Ill agree in saying that not everyone from Greenbrier hates White House and vice versa...Somewhere along the line it just kinda developed... mostly because we always lost... lets just have a good time tonight!!!
  12. I know it??™s a little late in the game to throw my two cents in??¦ but I figured why not??¦ everyone else is doing it??¦I love this time of year??¦ the weather is cool??¦ the air is filled with electricity??¦ the field is painted and cut to perfection??¦The CoachT internet board is alive and well with smack talk from Greenbrier and White House fans??¦It all makes for good TV... Its week 10??¦ Comcast game of the Week??¦ Senior Night... ???White-Out White House??? Night. heck, Rudy Kalis is even coming in for this one! The team is fired up... They know what they have to do. forget last week??¦ forget all the scenarios??¦ there is one thing on everybody??™s mind??¦ White House??¦For the seniors??¦ this could be their last game??¦ and I know they aren??™t ready for Basketball yet??¦ As far as I??™m concerned??¦ the only streak people talk about now is the two years Greenbrier has failed to make the playoffs, after 13 straight prior??¦.or the streak on senior night??¦we could come up with all kinds of things??¦ but it won??™t make any difference on the game??¦ I love how ?? of the scores here don??™t even give the boys a chance??¦That??™s all the motivation that anyone should need. Greenbrier is know for proving people wrong on many occasions and tonight just might be another! Remember??¦ we didn??™t have a prayer last year too??¦ and look at that score??¦ two turnovers back to us (a little bit better officiating crew and maybe a little less rain, lol) and that game is very well back in our hands??¦People forget what kind of turnaround this team has made this year.. they just want to base assumption on the prior game??¦ or something that happened twenty years ago??¦look at the scores in the past few years??¦ and tell me the last time we were completely obliterated??¦its been a while??¦ you have to go back almost 6 years??¦further back than that it was a different era of Greenbrier Football??¦ This is something new??¦We??™ll call this the ???Attitude??? era of Greenbrier Football??¦ I hope White House enjoys their new seating in The Brier Patch @ Bobcat Field??¦ I just wonder what they??™ll complain about now??¦ *btw, if you hear a big BOOM...were not shooting at you... its a T-Shirt cannon! /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Im looking forward to a great game on both sides! Greenbrier 21 White House 20 Son, this is Bobcat country??¦
  13. Well played game by the Bison last night. That #6 really had a nose for the ball... it seemed like he caught everything that was thrown at him. What has been said already is really all that can be said about the Bobcats last night... Its just one loss though... Im looking for them to bounce back.... I also would like to send out a speedy recovery wish to Bobcats' QB Justin Grogan.... GO Green.... Sycamore... lets throw down, eh???
  14. mmmmmm.... I can smell the burgers from the house... This game is gonna be huge! Exam day in Greenbrier... I just hope those boys have their heads straight! The Bobcats are in a mindset of payback this year... and they arent looking back!! Im gonna take the Bobcats 21-10. With a big game for the D! GREEN MACHINE!
  15. Being from Greenbrier, I was raised to hate everything about White House... but I kinda like this "new blue" thing they have going on.... Good Luck to Heritage... also quick shoutout to their band... which I hear is pretty awesome!
