  1. I've been looking at the box scores lately and I noticed AE has been putting up some yardage. Last week 402 rushing with 6 different players carrying the ball. The week before that 380 yards rushing with 6 differnet people running the ball. I don't know how many yards they had vs. loudon but 50-0 they must had a lot. AE passing game is still deadly. Reggie Jones is back. There defense can stop the run. But we will see.

Maryville plays a tough schedule. Matter of fact the Blount county teams play each other and I understand why they don't have the room to play Austin East. All the Blount County teams are tough and to eliminate one just to play AE would not be beneficial to a Maryville or Alcoa.

I don't just good friends with a couple of guys who do. They come over on the weekends and kind of give me hints on things.

    best freshmen

Austin East has a Wide receiver that will be sensational. He is 6'2 170 lbs. and runs a 10.8 100 meters. Questionably the fastest guy on the team. doesn't play much but is in the heralded rotation. AE receiving corp is loaded. As the play-offs get closer you will hear more and more about this freshman. AE varsity doesn't like to interfere with Freshman team. Therefore this kid only practices with freshman. He very seldonly get to practice with varsity.

Right but the reason why they went out of state last year to play was no one in Knoxville would play. They just, want 1 game with another KFL school.

Brainerd and Howard or tradtional rivals. When AE plays these teams its not just a game but it's an event. The bands, the cook-offs, and many other events planned the week of these games. to say both of these teams are not power houses is simply not true. Brainerd and Howard are both built with teams that AE has trouble with. A team that is as athletic as they are. No other team in Knoxville (except maybe Fulton) has the number of athletes Brainerd has. Believe or not they are well coached. Howard is filled with talent. The head coach just have too many outside obstacles to deal with. They will be improved. AE asked several teams in this area to play. All said they had other plans. Oak Ridge, Alcoa, Farragut, Halls, Dobyns Bennett, Maryville, Seymour, Webb, Carter, Powell, Whites Creek, Riverdale, MBA, and Brentwood High School. Others mentioned were Orangeburg Wilkerson of South Carolina, Indpendence of Charlotte, Paducah Tillman of Kentucky, Whitley County of Kentucky, Asheville Reynolds of North carolina, and a team from Alabama. All the out of state teams wanted AE to travel. The budget and money was the problem.
  7. Not to question this kid... But who does Sweetwater play that has good atheltes and throws the ball? That is why I like AE DB's they play against Brainerd, Anderson County and Fulton. All three of these teams have great passing games and good receivers. The question I asked is truly a question. i don't knmow SHS schedule is why I am asking.
  8. I like Austin East DB's as a whole the past couple of years. They play a lot of man coverages and very discipline man-zone coverage. Reggie Jones and Jeff Phillips are two of the tops in the state. This year their reps been down because Reggie (injured) and Jeff (playing QB). (JR.) Cory Brown #24 is the total package. Small but knows the position. They allow their front seven to play so vicious. Fulton secondary is pretty good too.
  9. Brianerd has a good one. [Edited by boorelly on 10-1-02 12:34P]

It matters if there's a 3-way tie in the region. Overall record is the first tiebreaker. So, if all 3 teams are 6-1 in region play, overall record would break the tie. AE would finish 3rd. Your're exactly right swamp! Stevens and his staff are well aware of that. They more than likely would have to travel the whole play-off. That will be tough and expensive. I think Knox County schools should have made other Knox County schools play the roadrunners last year. That is why they had to play Indepedence.
  11. I can't wait till week 13 when the only teams in Knoxville area that are still playing are Austin East, Maryville, and this year possibly Sweetwater (took place of Alcoa) The last 3 years the only team in the KIL that played week 12 is Austin East. Stevens had predicted this each year. It tkes their offense 2 weeks to mature because of the system. Especially when you have a brand new quarterback who never played the posistion under this type of system. They played a very good team their first week of playing after being off on week 0 and week 1. No one will play them. Understandably Blount county teams have their schedule full years before. But no other Knoxville area team would play them. They called everyone. I'm talking about last year and this year. Brentwood academy keep your schedule open for week 1 next year. We will have everyone back for 2 more years.
  12. A-E ringing Loudon up for 50 doesn't bode well for the 'Skins against Sweetwater. Brock or no Brock. Kev B when Ae is clicking like Friday night. They will score 50 on anybody. oo many weapons. It all keys on the QB. If on, they are state champs again. But enough bout the roadrunners. This will be a great one. Remember this SHS fans. Rival games through away the paper stats. Where is this game played?
  13. Great job. I have one problem. Farragut is not a top 5 team. Ever!!! Also Sweetwater should be higher. But I would vote on this poll you have to be the best I've seen. Good Job.
  14. I know they're my team but AE defense is fast an quick. Very sound and discipline. I seen teams trying to run the screen on them and they are able to regather and run it down for minimal yardage.
  15. Redskins and Redskin fans, no doubt AE coaching staff really respect you guys. Game is played on momentum. When you guys went for it on 4th early in the game I think that sunk your boat. AE is a very well coached team. They are young and inexperienced. They have 2 starters that were out. One of them is an All-Star the other will be an All-Star (Reggie Jones and Albert Harris). They will get better. You guys have a new system. It will work. Win the games you have to win make the play-offs. I think you guys can beat Fulton. They have atheletes like AE but their scheme is not as confusing to pick up. AE gets you with all that running around (5 WR,3WR, 4WR on one side, motion, traps, options, formations, etc, etc.). Fulton is not that difficult. You have another tough one Friday. Keep your heads up and win the ones you have to win.
  16. Thank you for puting my boys in (AE roadrunners). Coach Stevens once again predicted his season. They are on pace to becoming a threat. Their offense scoredon their first 5 possessions vs. a good Loudon team. Just think Loudon didn't have any turnovers 1st quarter and by the end of the quarter the score was 28-0. Reminded me of Independence. Ha Ha!!! I agree with the poll so far. AC right now is the best team in the region. Fulton has good atheletes but mark my words they will get upset by someone this year. No distaste for Fulton cause they beat us but I don't see them being so dominant. They caught AE on first game jitters. Reggie Jones should be back in a week or so. He only played 1/2 game this year. Then he was 70%. QB Jeff Phillips is becoming what they expected. A Double Threat. So far their defense have been what they thought they would. Watch out for the Roadrunners. Oh yeah Swamp I went by there and seen their new weight room. They lift 3 times a week. And they really lift. All 80 players. AE is coming up. It is very nice. Now they have 8 cages with their logo on them. Uniforms like the Miami Hurricanes, etc, etc. Stevens is coming up.
  17. You are exactly right. AE will be O.K. Roadrunner you remember I told you that last week the practices weren't as crisp as they needed to be. AE needed a first game. AE offense showed some glimmer but first game miscues killed momentum. That was due more to not being prepared> (not the players but the coaches). I know Stevens and a couple their coaches personally. They will iron out all problems. AE has been going down since the Maryville scrimmage. After a competitive scrimmage against Maryville, soddy Daisy and East Ridge, AE hasn't played their type of ball yet. One thing I must warn AE fans after watching the game and going through the play-offs last year, Fulton is not the team AE needs to look at as a top team to contend with. If Fulton is going to be the "TEST" then AE will not make it to the 3rd round. I was much more impressed with Seymours offense than Fultons. I know Portland, Smith, and Trousdale are much much better. I haven't forgotten about the Mavs either. AE lost to a team that is not (in my opinion) one of the top teams in the state. This may mean AE is in for a long season. Fulton is a good middle of the road team. AE has a long long way to go if fulton is their competition!
  18. Small Town great post. AE players and program really showed me some maturity. You would think that they would have reacted to the way the Fulton fans (some fans not characterize by the whole group) were jeering them after the game. I asked the players the said they played at Fultons level. One kid said they tried to give us the game but we didn't take it. #78 said ""ifs" (hindsight)will not change the course of the game. We will be ready for the next one. Time to put our rings up". It reminded me of the U.T. win versus Florida. I thought the goal post was going to fall. Just kidding. Congrats to Fulton Falcons. But remember to get to the state you will eventually have to see the Roadrunners. Watch them improve the next couple of weeks. Both teams defenses are very good. Better bet Stevens will go back to the things that won it for them last year. No more new stuff.
  19. Just wanted to let you know. AE practice Thursday was very much improved. Very crisp. Acouple of injuries to report. Darryl Fats Minor (Groin), Reggie Jones (Shoulder), Kelvon Yancey (Back), Cory Brown (Groin)and A.J. Donaldson (Hip). Team as a whole seemed to be beaten up earlier in the week. Looked very quick and snappy yesterday. Jeff Phillips seemed very focus and ready to lead the Roadrunners. QUOTE>Posted by AERoadrunners: A couple more hours before them Roadrunners take the field. GO AE!!!

Did you think about maybe the coach ddn't put them in the right position to be successful. why do you throw the fade inot the boundary. You have to drop it right on the dime. Throw the fade on the wide side of the field. that way the WR will have space to run under it. You are obviously not an English major either! Not only does your grammar show your ignorance, but so does your willingness to single out one player for a poor performance. These are high school kids, not professionals. They are not paid to play and should not have to be called out in public for their performance. McKeethan did not decide to start himself (note the correct spelling for your next post), nor did he call the plays. The coaching staff placed him in a position to fail, and he did. However, I am sure he gave all he had and will continue to do so. Given your pathetic use of the English language, maybe you should be benched in favor of a second grader writing posts on this site!

From what I heard he was slamming his helmet down and going off on the sideline. Good thing he didn't play for Stevens and the roadrunner Cofer # 2 would have been benched the rest of the game. He needs to support his teamates "TEAM" being the key word root. I know the kid was probably upset and doesn't know how to exert his frustraqtion, but if he loses his cool that quick then I wouldn't want him as my quarterback. I wasn't at the game but my boys told me about the game. They were there to scout, "they say", AC. Both Tillman and Graham agreed with me about the Cofer kid. They are the ones who made mention of it. I was watching MHS kill Alcoa. I heard the score on the radio and couldn't believe it.
  22. Diesel I have a black great great uncle who was killed because he was seen coming out of white widows house one morning (Bessemer, Alabama 1947). The good ole boys shot him in trhe back while he was painting on a roof. He was 17 at the time. Come to find out he was bringing her some extra steel or iron something from the mill for her floor base. White southerners committed some of the same acts as Nazi's. Not all but it only takes a few. Our women been raped, our men been executed for no reasons. Check Your History Books!!!!
  23. I respect that post. I too learned some history (bluebonnet or whatever)
  24. Oskevin good post. I wrote about it earlier. I just wanted non-minorities to understand how a minority (not just African Americans dislike the confederate flag) would feel. To some it does have a distasteful meaning to it, although just cloth. I have never heard anyone of southern heritage publicly debate or dispute with others using the flag as a suggestive theme. That theme being racism or supremecy. To win their flag back. So sometimes I, as an African American, view this as hypocritical when they speak about heritage but nonsupportive of groups as the KKK. I am a southerner and proud to be. I see us as hardworking and the ability to live with what we got. We are able to go through the institution of slavery and problems of racism and seperatism and now can work together every day. When we have bad crops all of us suffer. But still through times southerners are able to work through a lot of problems faced. I've been up north and the people are as cold as the weather. But here it is nice to see so many warm faces and personalities (Whatever the nationality). Racism is everwhere trustme I know. That is not a geographic problem. Africans discriminate against other African because of lightness of skin. I Serbia to me all of them look alike but still there is discrimination and racial problems. the debate is over school students using the flag. since this country is a melting pot of people and nationalities, I think the students at any school should have flags, or whatever that is respectful to all groups. I don't want to see a school called Nantucket Nigg you know the rest. Therefore descretions should be made.
