  1. Here's my shot at it: Cookeville win/Cumb. Co. win- #1 CHS, #2 CCHS, #3 FCHS, #4 LCHS FC win/Cumb Co. Win- #1 Cumberland Co, #2- Franklin Co, #3- Cookeville, #4- LC FC win/LC win- who knows?, maybe- #1- Franklin Co, #2 Cookeville, #3 LC, #4 Cumberland County Cookeville win/ LC win- even more puzzling- #1 Cookeville, #2 Lincoln Co, #3 Cumberland Co, #4 Franklin Co. or they might go to overall record= #2 Cumberland Co, #3 Franklin Co, #4 Lincoln Co. We'll see Monday, when the official possibilities come out. Either way this Friday is going to be HUGE for all 4 of these teams. Its gonna be cold outside, but they'll be some good football played in region 3 this Friday. Whoever ends up w/the short end of the stick is going to be driving down to Riverdale first round and nobody wants that. [Edited by lawdawg on 10-27-02 10:04A]
  2. Cumberland Co. is still a good team. They were ahead with seconds to go when McMinn nailed a 53-yd field goal to win the game. That is a huge improvement over past CCHS/MCHS matchups. Usually MC drills CC. I also think McMinn is a better team that their record indicates. I agree that Cumberland Co. isn't #1 in the state by any stretch. Cumberland Co. does have one of the biggest fan bases in the state, even in the down years the CC fans fill the stadium. That's why they're high in the fan poll. The region 3-AAAAA championship and playoff seedings will go down to the wire, in a mini-playoff of sorts. You have #1 Cookeville v. #3 Franklin Co. and #2 Cumberland Co. vs. #4 Lincoln Co playing this final week. Both games should be great.
  3. Sean Mullikin from Cumberland County is listed at 6-8, 310. Cumberland County also has a junior, Fitzgerald?, that's about the same size (6-6, 300 lbs) that sometimes plays on the first team o-line at offensive tackle. BTW, anyone got any ppredictions on the McMinn Co/Cumberland Co game tonight. They'll have some great linemen on the field tonight. I know MC has Jake Evans who is a pretty stout player and CC has Gabe West and company on their front. Should be one of the best games this week.
  4. Hoover is the best program in the Birmingham area. If you're willing to travel a little farther, Phenix City has a good program with several D-1 caliber atheletes as well.
  5. I *think* that if Cumberland County beats Cookeville tonight, then they would clinch Region 3. That would give every team but Franklin CO two losses and Cumberland County could only lose potentially lose one game (Lincoln Co.) and, IF they did lose to Lincoln Co. Cumb. Co. has already beat Franklin County head-to-head if they did
  6. It takes a brave soul to put down one of the top 10 RBs in Tennessee (Isaac Ostrander "the O-train" that you call "slow") and one of the top 50-60 offensive guards in the nation (left guard Gabe West- "the Ballerina"). Not to mention basically trashing the rest of Cumberland County's team, a team that has been winning big the past few weeks. I'm sure the Cookeville coaches just love their players going around handing out bulletin board material like they were Sonic Drive-In mints. Cavalier67- if the hornet's nest wasn't stirred up in Cumberland Co. before, it is now... You just took the game into your hands.
  7. I agree its easy to sit behind a computer screen and talk about how good you are. I saw/heard somewhere that CCHS has 10-12 players that can bench 300+ and the highest I've seen is West at 360. That is just amazing considering most teams would be thrilled to have 1 or 2 guys that bench 300+, but I believe it based on how Cumberland County has been playing this year.
  8. I honestly feel like this year's CCHS team is better than the 98 team. Keep in mind this might be one of the last times for this rivalry. Last week, the Cumberland Co. school board got the ball rolling on building a second high school. Nobody knows how CCHS will be split yet and it will be a few years before the additional school is built. But this may be one of the last games for the "original" Crossville(Cumberland County)/Cookeville rivalry. So the players, coaches, and fans really need to soak this one up. Both teams are going to pull out all the stops. The region title and home-field advantage for the playoffs are both on the line. Should be a classic...
  9. Ahh... Nothing like the "Battle of I-40" rivalry- Cookville/Cumberland County. I would just like for the Cookville players promising a win would tell us your name and jersey number.
  10. Not all of the o-line has poor form, there might be one or two that I would charaterize as standing straight up and not firing off the ball. But there are also one or two o-linemen that has excellent form and really "lay the wood" onto people. Not going to name names either way to offend anybody or give anyone the big head, but just watch all 5 of them not just one of them. But don't characterize the whole OL as having poor form based on one person.
  11. Scheduling is a two-way street. So both schools have to agree on the game and their schedules have to match. For all we know, CCHS might have tried to schedule more 4A and 5A games, but couldn't get it worked out. Also, schedules are made months, even years in advance. Are you trying to say that we should stop the season and make every team in Tennessee rework their schedule when a team nobody expected to win has its best start in decades? More importantly, there is only one AAAAA school (Cookville) within a 40-mile radius of Crossville. There are also only two AAAA teams (White Co and Rhea Co) in the same radius. CCHS beat Rhea Co. twice in the preseason and has beaten WCHS already. They will play Cookeville later on. I think its a little unrealistic to expect CCHS to have to drive 60-90 miles for every non-region game, which is what they would have to do to play more AAAAA teams. It is also unlikely that coaches and athletic directors from the Knoxville and Nashville areas are going to line up for the chance to drive an hour to an hour and a half to "the mountain" and make their fans do the same just for a non-region game.
  12. First off, have you even seen CCHS play this year? And no, I don't care about your cousin LeRoy from Hogsnot that heard from his friend JoJo that plays for Bellyache H.S. that CCHS wasn't good enough. I want to know if you were sitting in the stands for a game this year. Secondly, keep this in mind... This isn't your father's or even your brother's CCHS. They've been the doormat in every region they've been in the past 20 years, but this team is a different beast. Don't be surprised by what this team can (and will) do.
