  1. Loved Kelly Jolley, and her brother wasn't too bad either.
  2. Who was the best player to ever come out of Tennessee since we went to 5 on 5? Knowing that Tiffany Woosley's dad, aka salty, is going to push her like a drug, I would cast my vote for Jennifer Azzi. Jennifer won multiple State Championships, 2 National Championships, Multiple All-American honors and a National Player of the year trophy. When the Hall of Fame opened she was voted as one of the 10 best to ever play. She has played on 3 olympics (so far) and still plays pro ball. She (no disrespect Salty aka Mr. Woosley) was agreat high school player and was the Mia Hamm of basketball. I know there are a lot of great ones out there but I never saw one better. PS I am no relation to Jennifer, have no ties to Oak Ridge High School, and dislike Stanford.
  3. Storm, Coaching is teaching. I been involved in coaching for over 25 years. All players, and teams, respond differently. The hostility you show ed in the previous posts illustrates the problem we coaches have, one of control. My job is to give life lessons. There is a new book called Wooden, I would suggest that we all read, parents, coaches, and players. Trust and communication have to be earned and worked for. Times have changed, and the great coaches change with the times. If we don't get better control of sports, and what they really mean, I won't let my children participate.
  4. I am getting a lot of heat from Tiffany Woosley's dad aka Salty, about not putting her or Webb in my top 5. Would some people from these young ladies high schools please pick the top players from their respective schools?
  5. Salty, You are losing credibility with me (and not because you attack my lack of spell check?) I played against Webb, and was involved in her recruitment of Webb, but you obviously didn't see much of Frost and Morton, if you think she could have guarded her. As for not guarding Holly, Woos couldn't so that wouldn't be a problem. Holly was the Bob Cousy of Tenn Basketball, and would be my point. The players you have could not even begin to pressure her. Also, how can you say Pat didn't want Azzi? I have never even heard that as a rumor before. Salty, salty, salty, I am begining to think you never even saw some of these girls play. Azzi, was a Parade All-American. We spent a lot of time going after her to Not be interested. Truthfully, we took Woos to keep a line open to Shelbyville. I try to keep respectful on these posts, but I am begining to suspect that you are Tiffany's dad. You convinced me on Nikki, but your comment on Holly shows a complete lack of knowledge about the game. "not guard Holly warlick" Please. Salty, give me facts. Why Webb over Frost or Morton? How can Woosley even be considered in the same breath as Holly and Jen? Salty aka Mr. Woosley, we need help with this post! Pageman, Mav, I need some of you old timers to help me with the Woosley family!
  6. Mav I was watching an ESPN classic show about great linebackers, and I think I saw this guy. He could press over 600 lbs, and had 12 sacks agains Michigan to see who went to the Rose Ball. Is this the guy?
  7. Is he the same guy that played at Purdue and invented the "Bull Rush" when attacking the quarterback from straight up the middle?
  8. Larry Seviers has a daughter at Webb, but she only plays volleyball, and he was a 2 time all american at the Univ of Tenn. There is a guy that has a daughter at AC who was a MONSTER in college. He was one of the best linebackers in Big Ten history. I remember him being recruited and his dad told Bo Schembechler and Woddy Hayes to get out of his house, but I don't know the name. I see him at alot of sporting events in East Tenn. Mav, any help?
  9. Salty, I was involved in the recruitment of Azzi, she chose NOT to come to UT, it was not because we didn't want her. Azzi was twice the high schooler that Woos was. I like your speed argument. (Although Woosley wouldn't beat Morton down the floor), and as a result would drop Peck from my 5 and add McCray as my 3. (Should have put her there in the first place, in truth I forgot about her!) My new 5 are: Azzi Warwick McCray Frost Morton As for pressure, you think any of your girls would even have bothered Holly? Still haven't convinced me about Webb, good rebounder, but Frost and Morton would eat her alive. Hey, some of you old guys, I need some support. Point for Salty. Peck R.I.P.
  10. Pageman is worth 12 points, so Page by 3!
  11. Farragut better be prepared to lose a few more!
  12. I am ashamed to say I forgot this player, Ms White is In the hall of fame, (I think), can anyone verify.
  13. Salty I saw all of these girls (except Smith) play in high school and college, worked with most of them in either high school, aau or college, and played against all but smith (even though I was a tad past my prime with the younger ones) and strongly disagree. I want to hear the Woosley against Azzi argument. Seriously, Tiffany played on a great high school team and probably shouldn't have been recruited at TN, she never developed past high school. Azzi is STILL a stud. I want (respectfully) to listen to your position as to Woosley being better than Azzi, and explain how Webb would have guarded ANY of my three inside players. I am interested, and may be swayed. The East Tennessee argument is not fair, because I am going only on ability!
  14. Forget squid, who is a better coach than Eldridge or Wright?
  15. I have no allegiance to Clinton at all, but Farragut will NOT make the state tourney or even the regional finals. A good team in a weak area.
  16. I want to be more specific with my post. Woosley may be the most overrated big-time player in TN. No way that she could ever hang with Azzi or Warwick. I love Nicki Mcray, and think she is playing better all of the time. When we got her at UT I thought she was a little suspect, but she may be in my top 1O. Could play 3 positions. I don't see Webb at all. Not in the class of Peck, Frost or Morten. Smith I don't know well enough to comment on, but I agree with Moorhead, not a great player, but an animal on the court. Would take her anytime, great leader. I also want to say a little more about the young lady fron Bradley, I watched her close for two years, and her raw athletic talent was unbelievable. Her senior year she was the best volleyball player in the state, and may have been the best softball player as well. I don't think we will ever see another multi-sport athlete of her ability.
  17. I am still interested as to who the people in the know would say were the best from the following school: Rutledge; Pickett County; Jackson County; Livinson Academy. 4 great players with a great tradition.
  18. salty My 5 would win by 25! How would you deal with my teams size! Also, who would defend Azzi?
  19. With all of these posts who do you think the better coaches are? I like Jody Wright at Fulton and Mark Eldridge at Anderson County.
  20. splainshornet, what do they say about refs in Clinton and Oak Ridge? That they are the same as the ones in Knoxville. Clinton is a better team than Farrgut, too big, too well coached.
  21. Geron wouldn't make my top 5 but she would make my top 25, and may be the best all around, multi-sport athlete ever in Tenn. Thanks for jogging my memory.
  22. Hugh Hefner is making a play for Brittany. She must have a thing for wealthy good looking older Gentlemen, and Pageman is a Gentleman above all else. Sorry for the ribbing my friend! Back to bball.
  23. I also want to clarify my posistion about Kara Sanders, I would love to have had this young lady on my teams, and think she was GREAT. Not being in my top 50 means zero, too a player like KARA. Kara, if your listening, tell your relatives I'm sorry if I offended them, I think you are the stuff, and I wish you well!
  24. Shotmaker, I agree with Mav. I AM talking about high school players, one of my top 5 did almost nothing in college. Thanks for the reminder about Rachel from Meigs County (Yes, she was better than Greene) and I must have had a brain freeze to forget Nikki McCray! Shotmaker, many of you guys only watch high school basketball for a few years (usually while your kids are in school) I have been watching high school ball for longer than you've probably been alive. I also think you're a little frustrated. This is a GREAT TOPIC, and what is good about COACHT. The sharing of old info. Not dissing your enemy.
