  1. Baylor has had a great run and their fans were gracious in defeat. JPII dominated early and the second half was all about ball controll and the tickity tock. Congrats Lady Knights on a great, undefeated season. Also, congrats on being one of the top 10 teams in the country. Hopefully, this championship will open the door for other sports at our school to follow in your footsteps. As for Charity and Christina, I have heard that everything is going to be fine, so get well soon. WAY TOO GO GIRLS, PROUD TO BE A KNIGHT.
  2. Congrats Lady Knights. Good Luck at state. Bring home the trophy.
  3. Golden will be able to go wherever he wants to go. He is a super athlete and a great kid. I hope to see him play football, but he'll probably get some kind of baseball offer. I would love to see him go to BIG ORANGE COUNTRY and play football, but that will be his decision. I'm confused about all the posts that say he might could go to UT, but not anywhere major such as Notre Dame. Untill this year, ND has been on the Schny. UT consistantly finishes in the top 20 in the country and send as many guys to the NFL as any other program. There is always 107,000+ at Neyland. What would be so bad about that? Anyway, where ever he ends up, it will be a major D1 school if not the Majors.
  4. I love the negative, it gives me the opportunity to correct those that are incorrect. It fires me up. It also lets me know that Coach Flatt is still at the top when people post negative about him. When your at the top, people always try to pull you down. It comes with winning ---see Lance Armstrong.
  5. Please put the pipe down before you burn your lips. Crack kills. How can you say that Coach Flatt has underachieved lately? He has been in the state finals 5 years in a row. Yes, at times he has got out coached, ( very, very, rare) and yes his players have got outplayed, (also rare). Still, he was there. He plays in the toughest division in the state. He wins 90% of the games and that is underachieving? I guess when you dominate for so long, people expect you to win state every year. Well don't count him out, never count him out. Only Coach Flatt and his players should feel that they have underachieved. That is because their goal is to win state every year. 21 finals in 33 years. Every coach in the state would love to" underachieve" with the record of Carlton Flatt.
  6. sorry Mcallister1479, that reply was to silentchamp
  7. Just driving down the road in my new Benz, checking the time on my new Rolex, both of which Coach Flatt payed for out of his own pocket. What ever, that is such bull. 2 things I know about BA, anyone that was or thought they were good at Fball, BA recruited them. Also, everyone has beat, just killed BA...... in a scrimmage. Again, more bull. For years I have heard statements such as "yeah, BA wanted me, Carlton Flatt came to my house and offered me a scholarship." Those people are so stupid. I ask " why didn't you go there? You mean you didn't want to play for the best program in the state, for one of the best HS coaches in the history of HS Fball?" Maybe it was the simple fact that Coach had never heard of them. Maybe some of them are just idiots. BA does not have to recruit, playing for state championships does the recruiting for BA. Sure they have not won state for a while now, but they are still consistantly playing for that GOLD FOOTBALL. If your not familiar w/ the GOLD FOOTBALL, go check out BA's trophy case. You can look at 9 of them along with 10 or so Silver Footballs. As for the scholarships, the correct term would be financial aid. All of the DII schools offer assistance on a need basis. Remember? BA Went to the Supreme Court, battled, defended and just like the Fball team, they won. Thus, a few years later DII was born. Anyone that qualifies, can receive aid. Not just athletes, anyone can get aid. So, you tell me what is fair, turning a smart talented kid away from school because his family can not afford 15 grand a yr or giving that kid the opportunity to attend a fine academic, athletic, christian school. You tell me what is fair.
  8. and this little piggy went wee wee all the way home.
  9. 55, it was practice, a scrimmage, so who cares what the score was. However, if your going to post, at least post the truth. Your 1st team did not score against the 1st team. Pope opened the game with a nice long clock controlling drive. Tate's long run was called back because of a stupid block in the back that had no bearing on him scoring. Once he got the edge, he was gone. It was called back but pope will learn from that mistake. Never the less, Pope continued on a long 10+ play drive and sneed punched it in. your first series ( against the 1's) ended with a nice 8 yard punt that went out of bounds on about your 30. Nice field position for the Knights, but since it was a practice, they moved the ball back to Popes side of the field . Pope moved the ball a little and punted it deep into your territory. Your next series (aganst the 1's) ended with another not so great punt giving JP2 the ball at about mid field. Again, nice field position for the knights, but since it was practice, the ball was moved back a bit into JP2s side of the field. The 1st quater ended so pope pulled its 1s. The 1s did come back on D for a few plays in the 3rd but then was yanked. You did score on a motley crew of second and third teamers. Now to your credit, you did score 3 or 4 times against the FRESHMAN D and if I'm not mistaken, you had a lot of the guys that started the practice in the game at that time. So unless you started the first quarter with subs, that was some, maybe not all, your 1's. Hey, I'm not trying to bash, just stating the facts. Both teams got some good work in trying to get ready for the GAMES that matter. No disrespect, just the whole story.
  10. BA of the 80'S would have been just as sucessful in 3A as they were in 2A. We played 2A because we had 400 students 7-12. We played the teams we had to play in 2A and pretty much dominated the class. We also played the 3A teams that would play us and handled them as well. There were alot of 3A teams that would not play us. They did not want to lose to a "lowly" 2A team. Therefore we went out of state to play 5 and 6A state champs such as pascagoula, Miss. (they had about 10 D1 players on that team). Lots of the teams we played had plenty of D1 players and we beat them with our "low academic standard" players. By the way, we had our share of D1 players as well but that does not matter. Coach Flatt along with Bowers, Pack, Dalton, Patton, and the Gentrys had coachable kids that played hard nosed fundamental "TEAM" football. Flatt got every ounce out of us. In 1988, there wasn't anyone we could not have beaten. I'm not just talking in Tn, I'm talking anyone , anywhere. Now back to academics, 99% of the BA grads went on to college. Schools such as Harvard, Yale, Vandy, Stanford, Duke, Notre Dame and Anapolis just to name a few. Sure there were a few that slipped through just like any other school but on the whole, BA was and still is a top academic school. Things at BA have changed over the years with their growth in number of students. In the 80's the school was a family and everyone knows how hard it is to whip a group of brothers.Ensworth is going to be a great school no doubt. If you ask Bowers and Pack, they would love to have the success BA has had and is still having.------- One more thing, in '88' Hunters Lane was the 3A state champs in track. We beat them in a dual going on to win our 3rd state championship in a row. TALKIT. BA #35
  11. Congrats to Webb, U out played us. We battled for 3 and half quarters then the wheels came off. Webb is a solid football team. Good luck As for JP2, this loss hurts because we have such high goals. Anything other than a state championship is going to hurt. We will remember this and we will build off it. Golden is a playmaker. We are fortunate to have such a talent. However, he is not alone. Can't wait for the class of `06,`07,`08 etc. The future is bright at JP2. What are we doing? "LOOKING UP"
  12. How many times did you score on that great veer play? That's what I thought. Maybe you should have ran it more. Maybe you would have scored. You speak with expierance when you talk about getting drilled by every team in that division huh? When was the last time u beat BA? Have u ever? How many times? Awwww Really Prediction---BA....55,Ryan....1 They'll give u a point for your veer play Don't fret, wrestling season is right around the corner. BA'89
  13. Turn on the lights, and lets play some ball.
  14. Male---Larry Cantrell(Goodlettsville) won AA State ( w/BA) by himself. 100,200,Lj and an incredible 46 second 400. Female--- One of the best... Beth Talent(HH)
  15. Coach Harper is pure class. He is one of the early sub-4 milers. I was at BA when he arrived and we won 3 states. He was class then and he is still class.
  16. Every one who has played football in this state was recruited by Coach Flatt. At least that is what they all say. BULL. There are a lot of want to be people that have said that. BA does not have to recruit. Either you want to play for the best coach and program in the state or you hate them. I know Flatt and BA are not perfect, but show me who is and I will follow them to Heaven. Every school has their wrong doings, every school. Public or Private, some one in the program is trying to get that winning edge. Coach Flatt is the best at promoting his program. Other schools should sit back and take notes. They have guys in the halls that could be great players, but they do a poor job of getting those guys involved. When your at the top, there will always be those people who want to shot you down. If they can't beat you on the field, they will try some way to get you. That comes with winning. It is still a small price to pay for being a champion. Twittycanes, who did you play for? Was it one of those teams that we use to drill? That would explain your hate for Coach Flatt. Maybe Coach Flatt didn't recruit you and that is the reason you don't like him. Go Eagles!
  17. Hey Bluewhirlygirl, easy now, take a pill and settle down a bit. This bitterness must come from some of the butt whippins Coach Flatt and the Eagles have handed you and your team over the years. FYI, BA is loaded every year. Don't think for a minute that Flatt wasn't a key player in BA's run while he was not the coach. No disrespect to Tom Moore, but Flatt is BA and he is always involved. He took time off from coaching because he was battling the TSSAA. Another battle in which BA won. Flatt approaches everything with all he has got. Fighting the TSSAA would not allow him to give his all to coaching. That is why he took the time off, not because the team wasn't loaded. They lost in two finals by a point. When you are the best, people try to find ways to bring you down. It comes with being the BEST. I'll take being the best any day. I hope he never retires and continues to break records. Go Eagles!
  18. Brandon, it was good to see you and your dad at the game. I know those early 80's teams were great and I understand your bias towards those teams just as you probably understand mine toward the 88 team. That's what makes us all great competators. However, we did not lose and we were ranked very high nationally. You know how we were. We did whatever it took to win and I believe we would have beaten anyone we faced. A lot of those guys on those early teams are from my neck of the woods and I am proud and have a ton of respect for you guy's. Seeing those teams play is what drew me to become an Eagle. We will never know and it is fun to talk about. The game between those teams would be a battle, but we would win at least 3 out of 5. lol Whit
  19. Hello my friend. Hillwood has yet to have a team that could beat BA. I know you guys were tough, but you lost to who and how and why?
  20. 1988 BA team= Best ever. Hands down . The 95 team isn't even close.
  21. Last I checked, Leroy Thompson held the record of 41 rareer int's.
