  1. Man this thread has gone down the toilet the last few days. I think the funny thing is that 99.999999999% of the posters wont play a down this Friday night. I wish all the teams and players good luck and especially good health. May the best team win. P.S. Im glad I will be in sunny Orlando, Florida at DisneyWorld next week because if you people get this excited over the 1st round, God help us all in Round 2.

    PUUUUHHHHLEASE!

Come on people. Cav Cav is right. Frankly, we got spoiled because Dennis Seid went overboard during our run to the Finals in 2001. Plus, i dont think that the Sun is sending out as many individual game reporters as they used to. There are only so many indivudual reporters to send out on a Friday, and frankly, which game beside SouthSide and maybe Lexington should they have sent a reporter to? Our schedule was down this year, something which they made quite clear untl we beat South Side. If we make another run this year, we will get covered better. As for the USJ/JCS game, Jeremy is the preps editor, not the Sports page editor. If you dont like where the story appeared talk to the Sports Editor Gregg Hampton - 731-425-9683 E-mail: ghampton@jacksonsun.com The Sports editor has the final decision on what stories get how many columns and which stories go where. Does the Jackson Sun have a bit of a love affair with USJ? Probably, heck the executive editor's son went there. But, the USJ sports program overall has earned their space on the sports section from all the success that have had in the past 10 or so years. They get a lot of print because they win a lot of games in a lot of sports.
  3. Should Greenbrier and South Side make it through their first rounds (and Im betting they both will), this will will one heck of a matchup. South Side is for real Greenbrier fans....take it from a Crockett County fan. They are huge up front, have some great skill players, and are well coached. If I had to say anything critical it would be that if I were a South Side fan I would love to see Coach Hayes open up the offense a bit. QB Jason Towater is a loaded weapon with the quickness to make a lot of things happen. He has a pretty good arm and he has some good receivers that can make plays. Hayes has always been predictable in his offensive philosophy and I personally think he has the players to do more than run the ball between the tackles. You guys be sure to beat up on one another just in case, Crockett makes it to the 3rd round to meet the winner. Disclaimer: The above post comes with this disclaimer. I fully realize that anything can happen in the TSSAA playoffs. This post does not intend nor does it infer any disrespect (there's that word again) towards any teams that Greenbrier or South Side play in the 1st round, or any teams that Crockett will play in the 1st round or might play in the 2nd round. This purpose of this post is to say that a Greenbrier/SouthSide matchup in round 2 would be a great game. 4. Everybody wants to be a Sportcenter anchor and report the scores with lots of witty banter. Did I just use the phrase witty banter?
  5. okay bulldog....i'll call your bluff on this one. Let's examine the history of these regions since 1997 which is when these current teams began playing one another in rounds 1, 2, and 3. I am examining the seven total games which are played between these 2 regions in the first 3 rounds (four in round 1, two in round 2 and one in round 3). Region 5 Region 6 1997 4 3 1998 4 3 1999 1 6 2000 2 5 2001 2 5 2002 3 4 Totals 16 26 If we only go back to before 3 years ago like you say...then Region 6 comes out on top 12-9. Just where exactly did the whipping take place? This being said......I think there are some great matchups ahead in week 1 of the playoffs. Personally I think Crockett, SouthSide, Greenbrier, and Page will win. Round 2 should be even better. Granted....these are simply my predictions....no disrespect intended to any of the teams i think will lose in Round 1. I hope that the mood on this board will be one of sportmanship this week so we can discuss the games in a civil manner and let the players play the games. As much as you seem to want to make a case that Region 6 has no respect for Region 5....you are fooling yourself. Believe me, 99% of the fans and 100% of the teams respect your teams and your fans. Im sure any team looking for a little bit of bulletin board material can find it somewhere on these boards. After all, fans is short for fanatics.
  6. Forget what I said about O.T. Hardin County kicks a FG with no time left on the clock to win 22-19. Dyersburg announcers were not happy with the officials. Im not sure what happened but Hardin County got a field goal attempt after time had expired. Ill try to figure out what happened and let you know. bottom line is Hardin County defeats Dyersburg 22-19 Okay...Hardin County missed a field goal as the game ended but Dyersburg was called for roughing the kicker.....they made the 2nd attempt after marking off the penalty.

  17. Bulldog....you sense an air of arrogance from one moronic poster who calls himself a Crockett County fan. I can promise you the players are confident in their abilities but are overlooking no one in the playoffs. Trust me when I tell you that Coach Pratt will be sure his team respects every single opponent, especially playoff oppenents. These 2 regions have had some great games over the years and Im sure this year will be no different. It's great that fans can have a forum to discuss their teams, but it's a shame that some so called "fans" can post trash talk and make the rest of us look bad. Let's the players settle it on the field and may the best team win.
  18. Shane, Im sure all Cavalier fans share your passion for supporting the team, but you are making us all look bad with you constant posting of bulletin board material. If I were a player, I would track you down and explain to you how you are doing more harm than good. The problem with guys like you is that should the Cavs lose, you would never show back up here again and us regular Cavs fans who post here would have to listen to other fans crowing how they were shown no respect. I hope everyone realizes that we have great fans in Crockett County and have the utmost respect for all our opponents.
  19. FatCat, don't waste your wrath on any poll, especially the AP poll. The AP poll is more about reputation than who is the better team. I am a Crockett County fan and I place absolutely zero credibility on this poll. It is sent out to AP media affiliates across the state and people are voting based on a team'scurrent record as they should, but past years' performances and reputation are a lot of the mix. There is no doubt, based on who they have played and beaten that Greenbrier deserves a spot in the top 10 at a minimum. Trust me, make a good run in the playoffs this year and then you will see some respect in the AP polls next year. All these guys voting have seen only a small percentage of the teams they are voting for. At least college poll voters can see most of the top teams on TV. High school poll voters get to see one game a week.....that's it. Good luck in week 10 and the playoffs.

    USJ and JCS?

I have a question about Shaw. After the USJ/Trinity game, a Trinity fan called in to 101.5 talking about how good the Middle School Team was and Shaw's name came up. A few calls later, a USJ fan called in and said that Shaw had been held back twice and was actually 16 years old and that's why he was so dominant in Middle School. Where does the truth lie here?
  21. They could meet in the Round 4 is both teams win out. But, there is a lot of football left before that could happen. I would love to see that game.
  22. Was the Sycamore loss to Cheatham an upset or has Cheatham improved that much?
  23. Thanks for the response. Im sure the Chargers will be back in the mix next year.
  24. Wescharge......Im a Crockett County fan and if you dont mind I would like to ask you why is this team having such a rough time this year? My nephew is a senior at Crockett and I remember seeing him play Westview in Middle school as an 8th grader and Westview blew them out. What has happened? Its a shock to any West TN fan's system to see Martin sitting at 1-8 after week 9.
