  1. Whose "guts" did what? Oh, I guess you meant those "guys" started it. Let me point out a few "Truths" to you Ball Fan. 1. It was those guys, not Brooke Johnson. 2. Those guys did not state anything negative about the ladies on the Loretto team. (at least if they did you have not pointed it out and I am sure by now you would have done so in one of your posts). 3. Your attack was on Brooke, not on those individuals who were, how did you put it, "blowing off at the mouth". They are the ones that you should be addressing not Brooke. 4. As far as it being "their fault" for bragging about someone they love and admire, you could have done the same. You chose the path of least resistance, the easy approach. "It is much easier to destroy than it is to build" You chose to attack an individual rather than build up your team. 5. Brooke was a major factor in Seymour's defeat of Loretto. With the defense crowding down, that left some open shots for other members of Seymour's team. 6. Your right, it was not Brooke Johnson that defeated Loretto. One person alone could never defeat a team as good as Loretto. It was a total team effort on Seymour's part that defeated Lorreto. As it should have been.
  2. 4Mustangs you are correct. Nice job on your post! Shows alot of CLASS! Channel 1! Whats Up!!!!! Had I known you were there I would have found you. I hope everything is going well at OS! I hope THEY realize what they HAVE in you as a Coach and a Person. I may have been on the basketball coaching staff, but I still do not believe that I have the knowledge to call myself a "basketball coach." I'm not saying you didn't try though. Now Wrestling, thats another matter! I do however, love this group of Seymour girls. They have been through alot. I just couldn't let this Ball Fan trash one of them. She is one of ours. She is a Seymour Girl. DON"T TREAD ON ONE OF OURS! Ball Fan, if you are a "True" fan of the Loretto Girls basketball program, then do what is best for the program. Stop trash talking about a 17 year old female high school student. Use all the effort you put into putting down high school athletes to help the program your love. Promote your school and your players all you want. Love them whether they win or lose. Be there when they need you. Be there when it seems they don't need you. Help them out with $$ or Volunteer to help in any way you can. Help work the gate, concessions, or aid in the clean up following a home contest. Listen to 4Mustangs. Don't embarrass the outstanding Ladies who are part of the Loretto team. Since you claim to be a fan, then show it.
  3. Brooke is going to CN because she wants to. Its that simple. She has nothing to prove to anyone. Her choice of a college need only to make her happy. She is happy with her decision. I went to College with Coach Walsh. He is a very good coach. He is extremely happy to have a PERSON/ATHLETE like Brooke Johnson coming into his program. She will have a positive impact on their program. I was at the Loretto-Seymour game. I was impressed with both teams.Loretto played hard. So did our Seymour's girls. Loretto should be back to the tournament next year. Seymour should be back next year. Loretto had a good defensive plan on controlling Brooke. They seem to collapse 3 players down on Brooke at all times. thats the way it seemed to me but I am not a basketball coach. I have known Brooke for several years now. She a very good athlete. She is a very good student. She is a very good person. She has class. She has alot more class than those people who get on this board, hide behind a "web name" and belittle a high school student/athlete. People like "Ball Fan" (who is probably a student from Loretto) are just looking for attention. Brooke, its not even tough to ignore people like "Ball Fan". People are always going to criticize other people. It makes them feel good about themself. It makes them forget about their own shortcomings. Ball Fan, keep supporting your teams and your girls. Just stop treading on Brooke Johnson.
  4. Seymour and Cental played in a Hall of Fame Game during the early part of this season. Central won in OT. It was not an official regular season contest. Alot has changed since that scrimmage. Both teams have improved since. GO EAGLES!
  5. Hey Buck, thanks for the information. I really hope the TSSAA will allow the small school / large school divisions to take place.
  6. texas23 my comments were in no way directed toward you and your posts. This whole issue is very unfortunate for all the parties involved. Not all Refs put the same amount of pride and effort into calling a wrestling match as the two that were calling this one. That was the intent of my comments.
  7. texas23 I did not mean that I was speaking FOR him. I simply am speaking UP for him and the job he does. That goes for Mr. Craft as well. He is one of the best our state has. Both of these guys take great pride in what they do. Unlike some officials, they care whether or not they do a good job. Its just that the verbal attacks on them, the Franklin Coaches, and the Table Workers are getting out of hand. I am sure all the parties involved wish there had not been an issue concerning any of the matches. How many of you have never made a mistake? How many of you have gone over to an Official, Table Worker, or Coach a said "hey, great job out there!" How many of you have ever been an Official, Table Worker, or Coach? People are so quick to criticize the efforts of others. Heck, if there are any of you out there that can do better, then do it! Take the test and become a ref. Call Ronnie Carter and tell him that you are willing to VOLUNTEER to work a score table at the state tournament. If you have all the Coaching answers then go to your local school central office and find out what you need to do to become a coach. Then do it.
  8. Now I wouldn't say that "everyone in the Region" counted them out. They did a great job this year! Good Luck Guys!
  9. I have read all the comments on coacht concerning this match. I am writing, not to choose sides, but to speak on behalf of the official who called the match. There are Wrestling Officials in Tennessee who strive hard to do a great job. They are not in it for the money nor are they in it for the "rush" some of refs feel when they realize the control they have over coaches and wrestlers (Yes, you guys know the ones who I am talking about). You can identify the wrestling officials who are in it for the "wrong" reasons. They are the ones who 1) refuse to be questioned and are always quick to penalize a coach who dares to question; 2) slaps the mat for quick pins because they have somewhere the need to go or justify a quick pin by saying "well, he shouldn't have been on his back"; 3) make up the rules as they go Now, I do know the official that was involved in this match and I have know him for several years now. He is, in my humble opinion, one of the best officials in the state of Tennessee. He is not in my Region and we only run into him at the Bradley Inv. or at the state Tournament. He is a wrestling Official for all the right reasons. He cares about the job he does. He treats all the wrestlers and coaches with respect and dignity. He is very approachable and willing to explain his calls, without hitting a coach for a team point. He is not in it for the money. He gives a kid an opportunity to get off his back and fight the pin. He goes by the rules as set down in the National Federation Rule Book. He is more than willing to check with a second official to ensure he made the right call. He takes his great pride in doing a great job. I am not saying he is beyond making a mistake. I am saying had a mistake been pointed out when it could have been corrected, he would have corrected the mistake. This in an extremely unfortunate situation. Had the mistake been called to his attention before the wrestler/coaches left the mat, this line would not even be on coacht.
  10. Chris Vandergriff of Halls is a darn good coach. He has had several state champions and state placers during his tenure at Halls High School. Look out for his son next year. "BIG JOHN" Vandergriff will be a force! We wrestled against him 4-5 times this year and each time he got better and better.
  11. Halls you are right. Alex Cate is a very good wrestler and a really good person. He will do very well in life. He has a tremendous work ethic and a tremendous heart. He'll do well!
  12. Jim Morgan! Another outstanding, well run event!
  13. Thank You. All the credit goes to the two young men you mentioned. I am very proud of both and will greatly miss them both next year. Robert becomes our first 3 time medalist. I wish he had not had the 2 hernias last year, our he would have been a 4 time placer. He overcame alot this year. Johnson becomes our schools first All State Athlete in 2 sports. He did a great job. Both these guys have alot in common. Both are very: coachable; have a great work ethic; great students! As I reflect back on the season, I identify some things that I could have done better.
  14. Waylon Lowe from Jefferson County. State Champ and 2X NCAA Div. II Champ.
  15. Coach Moorman takes the high road because of the type of person he is. He has done a great job at Union County. He also understands that all the bitching in the world is not going to change the decision that was made. All that ever does is make the person doing the bitching and the schools they represent look bad. I too have had kids lose matches by questionable, in my mind, calls. One cost one of my kids a state title. Some, cost some of my kids matches at this years state tournament. There is nothing I can do to change what has happened in the past. Its over, done, through. As far as the officials go: I would like to know why a wrestling coach is warned for questioning a call of an official and in every other sport there is no penalty for questioning a officials call? Why must we always have to sit in a seat, while football, basketball, baseball coaches can stand-up, walk on the field/court, whatever, and never recieve a penalty? Why some officials take the time to explain a call, while others take it personal, like a kick in the groin? Why a wrestler who shows unsportsmanlike conduct gets ejected from an event and a football player recieves a 15 yard penalty? How is a coach yelling 2 points for a takedown, inciting the crowd? Why its OK for a football team to sit on a lead and yet when a wrestler does it, its called "stalling?" Just a few questions that have crossed my mind?
