  1. The Cavaliers played a tough game- Riverdale just has so many more weapons. I am proud of the Cavs, they hit them in the mouth a few times. They scored and had two other opportunities within the 10 yard line that they should have scored, but Riverdale's tough defense dug in. The taunting at the beginning by Riverdale is classless and not needed. They are a great team, they don't need to try to show people up or intimidate with such classless acts. Coach Joslin wouldn't allow his players to do that kind of thing, he has to much respect for the sport and the opposing team. As I predicted the Cookeville crowd filled the visitors side. Great support from the Cookeville community. The Cavs didn't have the weapons but we have class young men who have been taught respect for the game and the fudamentals. How many penalities did Riverdale have tonight?
  2. Cookeville fans will fill up the visitor side tonight-several pep buses are coming from Cookeville!
  3. beethoven-gosh you have given away my identity!!! Good luck to both teams and regardless of the winner tonight both teams, coaches and fans are a credit to the enthusiasm, loyalty and energy of high school football! Since I am retiring after this season at South Carolina-I would be willing and honored to join Limbaugh as color analyst for the Warriors next year!!!!!
  4. Whoopee, we Cookeville fans are just excited to get to come to the "Boro" and enjoy all the festivities for Riverdale. I guess we are just the warm up for their demolishing of DB next week, but it's good to even be the warm up seeing Lebanon was unable to be their warm up. I look forward to watching how great Riverdale executes their plays, their schemes and their referees. It is not often we get to see a high school team with so much talent and diversity up here in the country where talent is slim. I just hope our players are not so intimated by Riverdale's size, speed and ability that we get confused on which way is the end zone. Of course we probably won't see the end zone considering how awesome Riverdale's defense is, but if we can just line up heading in the right direction it would be respectable. I remember seeing post which said "region 4 will sweep region 3". Wilson Central will beat Cookeville and Lebanon will run all over Cookeville. I am sure the prophets from Region 4 will be correct tonight since Cookeville is not in the same league with Riverdale, but at least we are better than everyone else in that region and we have proven it. Nope we probably won't beat Riverdale and to be honest we might not even be close or competitive but not all is lost we get to come and see the greatest high school team that has ever played and many teams never have that priviledge especially if you play in any region but region 4.
  5. I haven't seen any player on Cookeville's team disrespecting Riverdale or any other team this season. Coach J would not allow that. I did see Riverdale come out at the beginning of the Smyrna game by their player going to midfield and spiking the spear, followed by a lot of taunting especially by Thomas. I guess when your 17-18 years old and everybody says you are the greatest high school football team that has ever played in TN, it would be hard to keep from being cocky and having the big head. Ah well, we in Cookeville are country boys just thrilled to have the opportunity to be on the same field as the Warriors!!!!!!!!!!!! Ha!
  6. Oh it's great being the underdog again this week. We have been the underdog every week except week #1 against White Cty and week #4 against Warren Cty. As underdog we have nothing to lose and everything to gain. As the projected winner you have nothing to gain and everything to lose. If Riverdale wins everyone expects it and no one will care but the Riverdale faithful. People will admire Cookeville for a great season, but if Cookeville wins everyone will say Riverdale choked and never reached their potential the entire state will take notice. Ah the underdog is a good puppy to be!!!!!!!!
  7. I agree with everyone on this page except vols#1 guy. Smyrna is out, at home, pads are packed up and our tailback might not be going to UT but for his size he has more heart and ability than anyone Smyrna could ever put of the field. For the record I am not afraid of Riverdale but I do respect their legacy, their coaching, their atheltic ability and their season record. I don't think being a Cav fans means that I must lose my respect for other teams even if they are playing the Cavs!!! I expect the Cavs to give it all they have-in fact they did that last year against Riverdale. But last year they had more to give than we had and eventually won. If that is the case again this year the results will be the same, but that's why we will play them on Friday night. This Cav team is unique and if anyone can compete and defeat Riverdale these young men can! Go Cavs!
  8. Childs81-you had some excellent players on that team. Brady Adams fake punt return was awesome and the kickoff dribbler at the beginning of the game by Turner was a classic. As I said Riverdale was outcoached last year against the Cavs-we just couldn't score in the red zone. I apologize if any other players from that team took my remarks to Cav43 personal-it was not intended to be that way!
  9. cav43 I am not taking cheap shots at your class. I simply stated the truth-you were defeated last year in the first round by Riverdale. Coach J outcoached Coach Rankin in that game. If you would have shown as much anger toward the warriors as you have toward me simply because I don't agree with you, you guys might have won that game!!!
  10. I see now why your class didn't make it past the first round of the playoffs-you spend your time fighting your own instead of using your energy on Riverdale!!!!
  11. Sadler, your smarter than the rest of the guys on here. Can't you see that Riverdale needs something to motivate them. They have it now with all the popping off the Cav fans have been doing on here. My goodness we need to learn to enjoy the underdog position-it has worked great for us all year long!!!!!
  12. Limbaugh, thanks for the support-unfortunately many of the Cav kids are playing right into the hands of the Riverdale Locker room chatter-but they don't get it!!!! Peetey will probably be there I have seen him at the last few games and I am sure he will not won't to miss this one! It should be a great game with two excellent coached teams. It's good to be a Cav fan and in this situation for a change. I am convinced the Cavs will be well prepared but great atheletes rise to the top in key games, so we will see which team has the greatest of atheletes.
  13. cavfan91-that is an excellent post and one which I admire because you have logic and reason behind what you say-your not just popping off at the mouth because someone's opinion differs from yours!!!!
  14. Cav43 and strlcoach-you boys need to wake up and learn to read. I didn't say anything negative about the Cavs in my post. Quote one negative thing I have said about the Cavs on this thread. I have commended them and excited about their season. I stated that Coach J will have a good game plan. I said we have better atheletes than we have ever had. Gosh, you guys need to learn to read!!!!!! This is a thread about opinions- and my opinion is Riverdale will win. I hope they don't, but on paper they have the better team. Anyone else but Cav fans that have their head in the sand will agree with that assesment! Riverdale is ranked #1 in the state, haven't been scored on since week #2, ranked #10 in the nation -so on paper we are not as good. But that is why I said you strap them up on Fridays and play, you never know what might happen at game time. Now if you two boys will grow up and learn to look at things constructively life will be a lot more enjoyable for you!!!!!! Also for your information. The Cavs have played tremendously all year as the underdogs in every game. The one thing we have in our favor is that we once again are the underdogs and have nothing to lose. By the way losers take everything personal much like you two and winners look at things objectively and expect the best!!!!!!
  15. I am a Cav fan and thrilled about this years accomplishments. But honestly the Cavs this Friday night step into a totally different arena. We do not have the athletes to defeat Riverdale. We have better atheletes than ever before but Riverdale has athletes every year. Coach J will have his team ready and will have a good game plan, but if it comes down to athletic ability, Riverdale wins by 3 TDs. Of course that would be a real accomplishments considering they have demolished everyone this year and haven't been scored on since week #2. The Cavs have nothing to lose and remembering last year-Lincoln Cty went into the same game undeafeated but were upset- so that's the reason they will strap it up next week. I predict a solid win by Riverdale but Cookeville will compete with intensity, enthusiasim and heart!!!!!
  16. I thought they were pointing it a ShaggyJ!!!!!
  17. The Cannon was so loud that it even stunned me and I have listened to it for several years!!!!
  18. The answers are: Cookeville 28 Lebanon 8 The Cavs brought their A game: Region 3's best not only competed but soundly defeated Region 4's #2. Lebanon had not improved that much since we played them in week 3 There was plenty of hot choclate and coffee in the concession stand Cookeville ran the ball down the Blue Devils throat tonight. The Cavs passed very little because the run was so effective. The Cav defense was awesome!!!!!! The Lebanon offense didn't score until the last play of the game against the 3rd team defense. The Cavs have set an all time school record for wins with 11. Congratulations Cavs!!!!!! Yes I know the post will begin how the Cavs will get terrified by and demolished by the Riverdale Warriors- but tonight the Cavs have shown that region 3's best can compete and defeat everyone in that region but Riverdale. I knew it was our night when the Lebanon band starting playing their fight song- Vanderbilts fight song!!! It hasn't worked for Vanderbilt in 37 years!!!!!!
  19. 2 1/2 hours until kickoff. It's overcast and breezy. The sun hasn't shown it's face all day in Cookeville. The field will be wet. The low tonight is expected in the lower 40s. It will be cold and wet for the players but I believe once the game begins the players will forget about the elements. The Cookeville Community seem excited and I know the Blue Devils will come into town with great confidence. I checked and their is plenty of coffee and hot chocolate in the concession stand. I checked the referees and two are on the verge of heart failure and one has a glass eye and his other eye is missing. Arafats body is still entombed because the mindless mobs are busy eating after a day of fasting. The dreaded cannon is filled with fotter and the Cookeville SRO officier scheduled to direct traffic at the game has just left Shoneys. Wow what a night of excitment and anticipation in Cookeville and around the world!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go CAVS!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Shaggy J I hate that cannon, but I hope it goes off a dozen times tonight!!!!!!
  21. It's game day in Cookeville. It rained most of last night so the field will be wet. The forecast is for breezy and quite cool at game time. Can the Cavs bring their A game to Eddie Watson field? Is the revenge factor enough to put an extra charge in the Cavs? Has Lebanon improved so much that they will have no competition until next week? Can the best in region 3 compete with the second best in region 4? Will the TSSAA send more out of shape and overweight referees to call the game? Will the concession stand have enough hot chocolate? And will the mindless mobs in Ramallah dig up Arafat's body by the end of the game? These and other timeless questions will be answered tonight when the Blue Devils of Lebanon come to Eddie Watson field on the campus of Cookeville High School to face the Cavaliers from Cookeville!!!!! Be There!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Fuggly, That is a factual and good post! I watched you play and you played hard. Good luck in your future endeavors!
  23. Cav43- I appreciate your apparent admiration for the present coaching team at Cookeville. I along with you and a host of others appreciate what the head coach has done as well. But posting that the play calling in a certain game was terrible is hardly bashing a coach. And pointing out the Cavs weaknesses in the game does not make look Cookeville football look terrible-they did that the beginning of the 2nd quarter and the end of the 4th quarter on their own without any help from me. Anyone at that game will agree that the Cavs came out flat, the play calling was very predictable and we didn't start mixing it up until the 2nd quarter when we got behind. We got the ball back at the beginning of the 2nd half and ran 2 up the middle and then a sweep in which we got 3 yards. The Cav defense brought the momentum in 2nd half. With over 4 minutes left to go we put substitutes in the backfield. They fumble and Wilson Central runs it back 70 yards-then score and have a chance with a onside kick to be back in the game. And by the way I never mentioned any names when pointing out my opinions of apparent weaknesses much unlike you did earlier in the year when you felt the need to bash a particular Cav player and call his name publicly. Maybe you need to take some of your own medicine. Part of maturity is being able to realistically look at strengths and weaknesses in something that is dear to you, maybe you just haven't grown up yet!
  24. Unfortunately the Cavs have had a losing season under the present coaching administration they won the first 5 one season then lost the final 6 games! Hey what new region will Cookeville be in?
  25. Listen, I am in no physical shape to be a ref-but the truth is I know I'm not-but most of the refs I've seen all year don't know they're not! The reply post I have received on this topic are proof enough that the refs are highly insecure and can't take criticism. Go back to pop warner league!!!!!!
