  1. Unfortunately worse Cookeville team they have fielded in many years! They laid down tonight!
  2. Congratulations to both teams and especially Alcoa- it was great seeing such a huge turnout from both East and West TN. We don't have a jumbo tron yet-but it is a great atmosphere for football- and we were excited to have both teams and their enthusiastic fans in our city! Hope to see you both next year!!!
  3. I am not so sure the concessions was that bad or if Geno just left with a bad taste in his mouth because of the games outcome!!! And the South Pittsburg side was 70% full at best-but it was a great game and a great turnout by both fan bases! Congratulations to both teams for an outstanding season and thanks for joining us in Cookeville-we enjoyed having you!
  4. We are glad you enjoyed your stay in Cookeville! We were excited to have you in our wonderful community! Congratulations and hope to see you next year!!!
  5. Why bring them back to midstate? Cookeville is 56 miles from Murfreesboro and 72 from Nashville! Nashville didn't want it enough to even bid and Murfreesboro didn't want it bad enough to outbid!
  6. Just a little over 24 hours away from kick off of the 2009 Blue Cross Bowl Championships! The Cookeville community is excited about hosting the championships with over 300 local volunteers ready to welcome excited fans from across the state. The local businesses purchased more ads in the program than any championship programs in the past! The weather will be cold but the rain should be gone! Parking is close to the stadium-if you get there early enough you can park next to the stadium. Over 1100 parking spaces within 100 yards of the stadium. Another 2000 spaces within 250 yards of the stadium. A friendly city, safe environment, excellent football weather, cozy football facility, excited fans and great teams- it's going to be a great weekend! Good luck to all the teams-we are looking forward to seeing you this weekend in Cookeville!
  7. Burger Chef is long gone-they are building apartments now where the Burger Chef use to be located! Cookeville has really grown in the last 20 years-good responsible growth!!!
  8. Yes that makes a lot of sense-if you are from west tn-Cookeville is one hour longer driving distance than Nashville and Murfreesboro-if your from east tn then it is one hour shorter. So travel times it is one hour longer for some and one hour closer for others. Convience- it is more convenient for some and less for others. Recreation- yea people normally play a lot outside in Dec. in Tenn. We have more golf courses than Nashville and Knoxville within 50 miles. I guess Nashville has some go cart tracks that we don't have. Money- yea Cookeville is loaded with money compared to nashville and Murfreesboro-give me a break. The truth is Nashville didn't want the tourney and Murfreesboro didn't want it bad enough to go the extra mile to get it!
  9. Well even though your time in Cookeville may be a short stay-we hope you have a great time. I can guarantee you that while you are here you will be safe and you will see some great high school football!
  10. I will talk with the owner-I am sure he has decided to change their hours of operation since the world is coming to Cookeville this weekend!
  11. The best independent restaurant in the area is the world famous Bobby Qs. It has the most delicious barbeque in the world. They also have Pool room slaw that is only for the brave-it has a bite to it. They are known for their homemade banana pudding that is out of this world! It is just around the corner from the football stadium. Bobby Qs is worth the trip to Cookeville. Try their catfish-wow!!!!
  12. GWave- my humble apologies- and your are exactly right-Bobby Qs is the greatest barbecue in the south. And their Banana pudding that taste like caramel is to die for! Their catfish is also outstanding. And be sure to order their pool room slaw if you can take the heat! The reason for the name "disgustedfan" is due to our brand of football we played for years at Cookeville High School "run up the middle three times and punt." We are thrilled to have premium football coming to our city!!!

  23. Just as I stated earlier-Cookeville was way overmatched and the Patriots won big! I hope all you Patriot fans enjoyed our fine little city-if you keep playing well-we will see you again in a few weeks! In the past the Joslin teams have been more competitive. In 04 3rd round of playoffs-the Cavs were defeated by Riverdale by 13 pts and then the Warriors went on to win the state tournament. Then in 05 the Cavs were defeated by the Warriors by one point in the 3rd round of the playoffs. This Cavalier teams the last few years have not been at that level. But they have some talent coming-so hopefully we will compete again one day!
  24. It will be a beautiful night on the plateau for football. To all the Oakland fans-welcome to Cookeville-the home of the 2009-2010 TSSAA Football Championships. Be sure you visit one of our many restaurants-check out Tucker field on the Tenn Tech Campus-you guys may be coming back over there to play in a few weeks. The Cavaliers will be physically overmatched. But they will never be out coached. I am not a Joslin fan but I respect his knowledge of the game and his ability to always bring his team into adverse situations and compete. Year after Year the Cavaliers face a Murfreesboro team in the playoffs for elimination-and up to this point it has been (for the last decade) a Murfreesboro team who eliminates the Cavaliers. Yet in each game Joslin has a play and plan or a series up his sleeve that surprises the opponents. I expect the Patriots to win tonight and maybe they win big- the Cavs are not the team of the past few years-but they will compete and they will be well coached. Just wait and somewhere during the game-the Patriot fans will scratch their heads and say-"wow we didn't see that coming-or man who thought of that-or gee that was a good play."
