My understanding is West QB will only miss 2 or 3 weeks because he has a bad knee. I heard West has a freshman running back that is special. I do not think he played Friday night, because I didn’t see anyone special running the ball against East Friday night. I am really looking forward to Friday night game against Greenville, because this game will show us were Morristown West is really at. I know not having your starting QB will make it a lot harder on getting a win, but the main thing is to get ready for Conference play anyway. Back to Morristown East, with this being a short week, I hope the Coaches keeping pushing East’s even harder. They got to find a way to get this team in better condition. I would love to beat Jefferson Co. on TV in front of everyone in East TN to see. Right now East’s has to work on getting better before they start conference play. Losing these non-conference games hurt, but for now we have to look at the big picture. Move players around, maybe play people both-ways, what about throwing the football down field. I haven’t given up on this season yet, we have time to turn it around. Go Canes!

Great game by Morristown West and a very good job by coach Sanders with his half time adjustment. Positives of the game: Morristown West (1) Very good offensive line. (2) QB can throw the ball on the money. (3) Qutstanding job with conditioning. Not a single player for West cramped up. (4) Completely whipped East's up front most of the night. Morristown East: (1) QB is only a junior, he is going to be really good . (2) Both RB are juniors and they show some flashes of being really special. (3) Secondary looks to be East's strong point. (4) East's seems to have enough depth were no-one plays both ways. Negative of the game: Morristown West (1) QB got hurt, didn't look too good. (2) RB's run hard, but they missed on breaking longer runs because some were alittle slow and other just ran right up the linemens back. There were some real big hole open up by West Offensive line. RB's need to run with more vision because with West schedule those big hole may not be there against other teams. (3) Defense is a little shakey, they jumped at the 1st ball carrier to quickly. East's QB pulled the ball 2 time and went for Touchdown on one and a long run on the other. Greenville will really test West defense this week. Morristown East: (1) I sound like a broken recorder, every year Conditioning is a problem for East. East's cramped up all night and to make matter worst we runout of gas in the 2nd half. (2) Offensive and Defense lines are just plain weak. Both sides of the line got pushed around the hole night. It all goes back to offseason workout and conditioning. Until East figure out how hard you much work in the weightroom, we are going to have a hard time beating West.(Look how West lines looks compare to Easts. I didn,t see too many bellys on West) (3) Coaching must improve, you have some talent. Play calling on offensive, too many short passes and no adjustment made after half time. Defense has to be able to stop the run! you may have to play some players both ways to shore up the run defense. Overall it was a great night for Morristown. We had a packed house and both teams played hard. East and West both have stuff games this week, Good luck to both teams.

Special teams will have a big impact on who wins tonight. East has had some issues with there kicking game in fall camp. Also, the team that protects the football the best (turnovers) will more than likely win the game. Let go canes! the weather will be clear by game time. We just need to finish the job( Beating West)

That sound great to me, if we have a chance too win at the end. We have been close before and found away to lose anyway. Close only counts in horse shoes and hand grenade. East must find a way to win or it goes down as 4 wins in a row for Morristown West.

I would say the Dalton kid is the frontrunner. How East's plays up-front will be key to there whole season. If East doesn't block any better then they have against Morristown West the last few years, whoever is the QB will not matter.

Base on what you read in the local newspaper, East has a good chance of ending Morristown West 3 year run. As an East high fan, I am to the point were I have to see it to believe it. I have had really high hopes the last 3 years, only to end in complete disappointment. The 1st 2 years we did not score a single point, and last year we played ok in the 1st half only to get steamed rolled in the 2nd half. I think Morristown West RB last year ran for 300 yards or was really close. Morristown West has whipped East up front the last 3 years. Until East is more physical on both sides of the line, we are going to keep losing to West. I would love to beat Morristown West this year, but our track record hasn't been to good lately. Just maybe it is East year, I really hope so. I am so tried of losing to Morristown West.

East's scrimmage Smoke Bears of SC Friday morning. How did each team look?

Any word on scrimmage for East or West high this week. Also. has anyone seen each team practice. I would like to know how each team looks.

That is why the Head Football Coach has to demand the middle school coaches work with him on developing those fundamentals. I know for sure that when GQ was Head coach in Maryville he new the names and what position the best players in middle school were playing. He also made them run the same offense. In Morristown if both coaches would spend more time with the middle school coaches a lot of the problem we are seeing wouldn't be happening. I know that will require more time and base on what I hear. the coaches pay in Morristown is not all that good. So as you said above, just maybe the village is going have to step-up with more money and demand better results.

Your comments on some of the issues are spot on. Coaching and demands of the town can go along way in developing a championship football program. Look at Murfreesboro for example.they have 4 or 5 high school that have been working to get pass Maryville in the Semi for years.Murfreesboro Oakland final broke thru last year. My main point is, the whole town of Murfreesboro wasn’t happy with losing to Maryville every year. They invested in hiring new coaches and bring in trainers to help teams develop players.(weight room) This raised the level of play for the whole town and push it to the Maryville championship level. In upper East Tennessee do they really want to have good football at the high school level or not? In Morristown, I would say not. We haven’t brought In a Head Coach in years that has won a championship or been part of one since Don Woods came in from Alabama. Either there is a lack of money or there is an issue with whoever is making these hires.Why in the world would you hire a coaches who has never won anything and has a career losing record? In 3 years, Coaches Wells has 15 wins & 15 loses in regular seasons and hasn’t been close to beating Morristown West. As far as Morristown West goes, it is too early to tell, if Coach Sanders will be the next Don Woods or not. One thing is for sure, if Sanders record after 3 years is the same as Wells has at Morristown East, he will be out as Head Coach for West! Yes, the talent has drop off in Morristown the last few years. (Both teams need more athletes with speed) Neither high school is getting much help from there middle school feeder programs. That is why coaching is so important now. You got to outwork people in the weight room and classroom to have a chance. I have support East High with my time and money over years and haven’t gotten the same dedication on the field or off it. I am no-way blame these young men who play for East High football. They are playing their heart out every week, with very little results to show for it. I have try to talk to the principal and the Head Coach about my considers. All I got was to give him a chance and let it playout. It has played out and no one in charge seems to care. It is not fair to the kids (on this year team) that will be giving their blood and sweat for East’s every Friday night. I really hope I am wrong and things will be different this year. One thing is for sure, we will find it out during our Kick Off Classic Aug. 18th at 7:30pm.

I would take Cherokee over Boone if I had to pick a front runner. I just think everyone in this conference is about the same. I wish one of these teams would prove me wrong and go 10-0.

This region is very weak, these are all bad teams. the winner of this region will be lucky to be 5-5. Whoever makes the playoff will be in for a beating from Knoxville area Teams. I am picking a 6-way tie.

Any word on scrimmages for both teams this fall? I would like to see one in town if possible.

Why do people always want to lower the standard when someone wants a championship. Please do not take this personal, but your altitude toward a State Championship, is part of Morristown problem. I remember when Don Woods was the coach at West High, the standard he set were to compete for a state championship.If Woods & company didn’t have to deal with Maryville ever year, Morristown West would have won a championship In football already. During Coach Woods run at west, it even made East’s football better. East’s had to raises it game up just to compete with West. I just think to many people in this town are just happy being avg. Look at the Head Coaches at both schools. East coach Wells is a great guy, but he has a losing career record. Not much of a chance with Wells in winning a championship for East. The new Coach Sanders at West could be the next Don Woods, it is just too early to tell. My point is, if you want your son to make A’s in school. You have to work toward that goal or you will end up with a lot of C’s.There is no reason why High School football in Morristown is not at the same level it is in Maryville & Alcoa.

I haven't seen anything on the board about either High School. I know Morristown West had to move up to 6A football. Do either school have what it take to win a State Championship or is it wishful thinking? If not, what do you see as Morristown biggest problem getting there. Is it support, Head Coaches or lack of good players, you tell me.

I am wondering what East worked on durning their bye week too.The last 2 years we couldn't score a single point, How will East score against west? I just thinks this is a bad match-up for East. Morristown West is just too strong up front for East too do anything on offense. You have no chance of winning if you cannot score. East's Defense will hold up at times durning the game, but will be worn-out by West because of no offensive help. I hope I am wrong that East's will be able too play with Morristown West. We have played two good teams this year, with Greeneville being one. East couldn't stop them and we couldn't score. I think West lost 13-7 too Greeneville, that is why I do not fell too good about East chances. I would love too up-set west,I just do not know how East can do it. GO Canes!

We haven't beating a team with a winning record the last three years. To make matter worse we haven't score a singular point against Morristown West in two years. We have talent and the numbers are up this year(I think East has 80 players out). I know this is a new year, but we have the same coaches we had last year. I hope thing will be different Saturday evening,with are pass history, not having the clock keep running durning the game ,would be a win for East.

I agree with your take on the game.The one advantage Morristown West has is no-one is playing both ways.This could come to play if Catholic has a lot of players going both-ways.As a Morristown East Fan, I would hope one of these Kickoff Classic both Morristown Teams would have a chance off winning. It's looking like West is the team again in Morristown. I just hoping Fulton doesn't beat East,s by 50 points, that would be embarrassing. Make Morristown proud, by up-setting Catholic or at lease make it entertaining.

I really not sure who will win this game. Both teams have looked really good at time this season, other times both have just looked terrible.(East's offense and Mo West D) East's maybe a little stronger on Defense were I like Mo-West better on offense. I think it will come down too how Morristown East offense plays in this game. East 's has some of the fastest players in the whole region. We should be able too moved football a lot easyer than we do. We are always waiting on the big play. Sometime I thinks it is play calling and other time I just think our QB forget the play and just starts to run around. I know the coaches are trying too coach them up, but why does it take 22-30 sec to get a play send in from the sideline? We are trying to run a spread offense with 4 or 5 wideouts. You must throw the ball deep every know and than! It's seem like every pass is for 5 yards. # 1 thing I have a problem with is why every wideout runs 5 to 10 yards and turn around for the pass. We got to get someone running deep just to clear-out the Defense so we will have a few passing lanes. I not here to point fingers, I support our coaches 100%. I am glad to see we are back to talking about the game. It seems to me that more Maryville fans are more worry about the food then the game Friday night.I hope Morristown East can give Maryville the kind of game Morristown West gave them ,when they were in 4A. I know Maryville dosent lose much, but when the do, it is because the get push around up-front. For East to have any chance, we must win the battle up front.

I hope we get the same Marryville team that started out last Friday. We need them to overlook Morristown East some so we can at-lease make it to half-time with a change in the 2nd half.greatest equalizer in sports is turnovers. It only takes a few mistake togo East way, for us to have a chance. All we want is a chance late in the 4qty.

You maybe right about Maryville beating us, whats so bad about that. Maryville has just about beating everyone that has got in their way.Morristown East is going to enjoy their chance vs Maryville, We have alot of players that will be back next year,what better way then play the best and see how you do. You have been one of the biggest hater on my canes all year. Post after post you keep saying that WB should have won. Morristown East was beating WB 14-0 in the 1st Qty and was on the way to another score, when REF started throwing Flags .(Worst group of Ref I have every seen, they called over 200 yard on both teams,) WB got away with a cheap-shot on our QB on that drive.(he missed the whole 2nd qty) which aloud WB back in the game. After Half-time he came back out and lead us to 27-14 lead knowing he had a broke fingering. We didnt throw one pass in the 2nd half, and WB still could nt stop us. We did turnover the football over late, and Your RB made a great run breaking tackle after tackle. Come off a 1-9 season Easts was still learning how to finish off teams. My main point is, WB didnt win the game and the lost to alot teams this year you think the should have won. We are better team now and WB became a bad or avg team as the year went along. We are looking forward to playing Maryville. No-one gave King David a chance, East maybe the one team with right rock that can stop the Maryville Championship train,
