  1. Typically I'd agree with that statement, but with only a handful of seniors and a new system being implemented, success will be gradual. Won't be immediate.
  2. I would suggest you trying holding yourself to a higher standard before placing judgement on any individual. "They have to be held in a higher regard"- why? Higher regard than you as a parent? Absolutely not! You don't send your kids to school to be raised by teachers/coaches, you send them to school to learn English, History, Math, Science, Football, Baseball, Basketball, etc...not to raise your child by any one individuals morals or beliefs. That is your job as a parent. You intrust school personnel to keep your kids safe and out of harms way, and to teach them the subject matter/fundemental's of sports, not what they should or should be doing or believe in. You be your childs role model, don't count on his teacher/coach to be it. It's your job, not their's.
  3. Who say's that coaches are and should be held to a higher standard? That's crap! Teaching and coaching is there profession/job. They get paid to teach a subject and coach a sport. They are no different than you and I.
  4. He's human just like the rest of us. He's going to make mistakes and he's going to pay the consequences for those mistakes, just like the rest of us. Just because he's a coach doesn't mean he sit's on a pedestal anymore than you or I when it comes to mentoring kids. He get's paid to teach a subject and teach football, not to raise your kids and/or influence there future. That's your job as a parent. Don't hold him to a higher standard than you, as a parent, are willing to accept as a standard for yourself.
  5. to the best of my knowledge they did keep Huwe.
  6. Nothing new until they get in pads. Be good to see what the off season weight training and conditioning has done for them. Be glad when they start hitting. Going to separate the girls from the boys! Just about that time!!
  7. Another thing killing baseball is HS basketball and football mandatory practices. Kid's that are playing travel baseball, but also play HS basketball and/or football are having to choose. Last time I checked, basketball was a winter sport and football was a fall sport. We are in June........that would be summer!
  8. Been several years ago, but my experience with travel ball was a good experience, as a parent and as well as a coach. But....today there are few true travel ball teams. Everytime you turn around a new one has been started. Several arguments can be made on why this is, but my issue is with the expense these days. I understand inflation, but some of these organizations are charging $1500+ initial investment, as well as monthly dues, for 8 yr olds, 9 yr olds, and 10 yr olds. And, people are paying it! Why?! Most 8U tournaments are free entry fee, even USSSA/BPA. Most 9U/10U tournaments average $100 entry fee. Sorry folks, but that's a lot of money not including the cost of admission, concessions, fast food, accommodations, gas, etc. Have we lost our minds? Recently I read a post on FB about a team that won a major berth to a sanctioned World Series. On this post it stated that it was going to cost $3000/kid and was asking for donations to help send there player to this WS tournament. "Once in a lifetime opportunity", they stated. Really??...........for a 10 year old! After doing some checking on my own, the $3000 is what has been stated it would cost each family for the trip. What happens to the team member that can't afford that trip? He get left behind to not experience that "Once in a lifetime opportunity"? "Once in a lifetime" opportunities are everyday for a 10yr old. I think this "once in a lifetime opportunity" is really for the parents!!
  9. Not true...at least as of this past Saturday.
  10. I'm not a fan of how TSSAA allows private schools to do some of things that they are doing, but.......I'm not going to blame a parent for doing what they believe is best for there own childs future, whether that be academically and/or athletically. Each parent is responsible for doing what they believe to be best for there child. Mr/Mrs Inman made a choice for there children with the hopes that it would benefit there future. You may not agree with there choice and/or decision, but it's not your child and you aren't responsible for there future.

  14. Collier's job if he want's it, in my opinion...but will be hard to give up the position and money he's getting at Webb. Pankey, if anyone can get a kid to put on the orange and blue, he can. Wiley, has a good thing going at OS and has built a new beginning there...be hard to leave that. Bye, bye Harrison........take your white "K" with you!
  15. This subject will go nowhere but BAD!
  16. I may be mistaken, but if we are talking about the same Mark Pemberton that coached at Knox Catholic, building teams from the ground up aint going to be anything new to him. May take him a a year of two, but I'd say Rhea Co will be pleased with the new coach.
  17. Yes, there is a MS baseball team at OR. Don't think they are sanctioned by TMSSA, but they do have a varsity and JV team. Several travel teams from the area as well. Feeder programs are intact.
