i agree otis, harris and bubba are special. what i saw. stratford, young but i was amazed at henry harris' patience to get his teammates involved. he picked his spots carefully. it was obvious he could get to the basket whenever he chose too. Eric Orr has MAD potential he will be pretty good. Riley has quit the team(hair too long) Bender might not be on the team either for the same reason. This team is young. No height(besides orr, unless bender plays). Everything rides on Harris. This team can only go as far as he takes them. Maplewood, Their starting 5 is unreal. Bunton has improved a great deal. He was aggressive and looked to score. Richardson is playing like a senior(he is only a soph). Bubba and Ricardo were hitting 3's like layups. If they hit 3's like they did last nite it opens up the middle for bunton and barry. bubba had at least 5 steals in 1 qtr. east, has some talent but they have some chemistry issues. they were arguing with each other on the court. Maplewood looked good barry swatting shots, bubba making steals, ricardo hitting 3's. they were clicking on all cylinders. maplewood's bench is questionable if there was a weakness.

i agree. i hope polk is able to work some things out.

i will be at the jamboree tonite. it is disappointing to see this. metro players have a history of disappointments. currently there is no sign of jacques curry or demarco polk(

i wonder what ever happened to jamont wade he was pretty tough. in 91 we beat science hill in the arby's classic to win the championship. there is an arby's classic website with this info(don't know it right off top) they beat us in the state quarterfinals. so technically we split with them,but they won when it counted most. oh by the way while you are in NYC pick me up a mix tape(CD)

don't believe the hype. i'll find the link(and post it), but on oak hill's website there is no game scheduled for the STATE of TN, or Gallatin.

no way AT, however point well taken with a smile as well. i liked that pearl team. but no way can you say the team was just sims and frierson. rucker was automatic from 3 pt land(even walked on at vandy for a yr). i am assuming you are talking about the 91 team(which wasnt the best team at the creek, 89 was, cory allen, brian ward) i do agree with sims being underrated. he embarrased david vaughn their freshman yr in a dunk contest. vaughn missed his dunk. but vaughn was not overrated. he wasn't that good at joelton. but he was as polished as a big man in high school in metro that i have seen in a while. you must understand that Whites Creek beat Pearl with all of those guys with James Stewart and co. So i know Vaughn and the crew would be able to beat Pearl. The x-factor would be Slay vs. Sims ...........you decide. NO WAY does big John Stop Vaughn. They used to say glencliff would beat the creek cause they had big Amos Gregory. uh uh, didn't happen. Even you admit sims lit Stratford up for 39. I was at that game. It was showtime all night baby. We scored close to 100 pts. No one in Metro came close to knocking off the creek. Pearl was upset by a very mediocre Hillsboro team with slay, BT, henderson, etc. Vaughn and company won the Arby's classic. Pearl didn't(they lost to marietta wheeler). Facts are facts. What more info do you need. You say you talked to people across the state who share your view. But not in Parkwood, Golden Valley, Bordeaux, Enchanted Hill, or any Cobra Land hahahhahah. You say you played at east i am pretty sure Ewing park put it on East . As well as Joelton. Michael Henderson that name sounds familiar. Whites Creek freshman won the city with sims, rucker, and vaughn. Good luck to all of your East nashville teams this year AT maybe i can sit next to you when the creek plays stratford.

big chief i totally agree(swader). if he is as good as mentioned why doesn't his team have a better record. they aren't event the top team in their own district. jamont gordon has only played one semester of bball and he is ranked above gardner and taylor(maplewood). he will be good but let it happen first.

i personally met ben at the belmont camp. i officiated two or three games that he played in. and his attitude was great. he didn't complain about the constant hacking and undercutting that he was receiving from shorter players. he also was mannerable(he would respond with yes sir or no sir, etc) so i am sticking up for the big fella. i saw NO attitude problem. i asked ben what college he was considering at that time it was an ivy league school can't remember which one. what that told me was that ben was more concerned with academics to even consider a school like that. he obviosly could sign a bball scholarship somewhere else with less academic requirements. ben played hard the games i saw. the only thing i can concur is that as stated earlier is that ben's priorities are elsewhere. he shouldn't be criticized for not cherishing basketball as coach smith does.(after all coach smith gets paid to coach bball and teach classes) there is no rule that says play ball cause your 6'10". good luck to Ben Fredrick.

right now the two hottest are Marion and Hassell. If i can find the link i will post it but. Hassell's stats and defense for the bulls were very good. all-time penny's beginning was good but he has faded fast. my tops would be: marion hassell delk mercer hardaway honorable mention all-time(todd day, elliot perry, david vaughn, vincent askew, charles davis, dontae jones, and anybody i forgot) it takes a heckuva lot to get to that level so all guys should be recognized. this is based solely on last years performance. as far as yarborough and haislip until they play we can't even consider them.

big john(henderson) had three sacks last week against the eagles in his first start. he will be terrorizing the titans on sunday! Shelton(quarles) has returned one interception for a touchdown this year and is the starting middle linebacker for Tampa. as he did at vandy and the Creek! Avion Black went to Maplewood and TSU. He played with buffalo and is now with the texans. Brent Alexander Gallatin HS and TSU. Plays with Pittsburgh.

dickson county beat a GOOD riverdale team. I pick Overton to upset Hillsboro. Overton's versatility gives them the slight edge. Hillsboro is one dimensional. But shutting them down is easier said than done. Good luck both teams.

good question how will carter and hillsboro do. they typically have good athletes but the coaching is suspect. this year should be no different.

is it coincidental that your name is very similar to metro's top freshman?? my vote goes to Jessie Mooney. She will be seeing plenty of varsity action. She is good. I will be watching plenty of Hillsboro bball this year.

changing subjects a little bit TJ what do you think about the ole miss backcourt of Trey Pearson and Jonathan Loe?? Since i wasn't at the maplewood game. i can't elaborate. but hey give the kid(taylor) some credit he was a freshman in the state tourney. just to be able to get in there and play says a lot. Hey TJ i still have the program when you guys were in the state tourney your freshman yr(yall put up a good fight against pearl cohn for a half). Kudos to you too for being a freshman on a good bartlett state tourney team some years ago. it was 97 or 98??

painful memories.........those whites creek almost wins........the state game in which they upset columbia boy that was a good win though. columbia was either undefeated or only lost 1 game all yr. we turned around a got thrashed the next night to white station. Dee burkes just ran circles around the defense.

hey you weren't on that team that knocked the creek out of the substate a few yrs ago. the clarksville team of future pros(marion and hassell). that was a great game down to the wire. to bad we lost.

i think josh refugee played ball for franklin last yr. he is playing on the football team right now. 11-aaa will compete with 12-aaa. 12-aaa will be down this yr with the exception of maplewood.

Well well well lets see Bubba started as a freshman, Barry Gardner didn't even play much as a freshman(compared to Bubba). Bubba pretty much beat whites creek in the region by himself. Its time credit is given to bubba. His team (while he played the point) has went to the state two yrs in a row. Any college coach will tell you they appreciate a winner(which he is) IF(which is a strong word) these other guys are so GOOD(even on bad teams) why didn't they take their team to the state. Now granted Maplewood hasn't won it YET(bubba still has two more yrs) this guys track record is GOOD. Henry Harris for as good as he is; the stratford team he played on was Demarco's team(than miles campbell) Who does maplewood turn to for a big bucket(BUBBA). Bubba went against Demarco, BRian collins, Mario Moore all head to head(lets see thats one mr. basketball and two Division One Bball players in which he held his own). Henry was the third scoring option for stratford. I like harris but come on lets be fair. Half of these guys(ranked in front) can't hang with bubba. I watched him this summer and YOU guys will be IMPRESSED he scored at will, outside,inside. You name it. but everyone has there opinions. You will see. you will see.
