Will you people stop running your mouths! The people and players of Basin cant do anything about all of that so just drop it everybody is sick of hearing it

Basin hasnt beat South Pitt in 5 years but could be an upset should be a decent game

This could actually be a pretty good game. Last year everybody thought south pitt would run away with it but It was a decent game not to memtion Basin's #30 had the opening kickoff for a td called back. South Pitt has the better athletes but they shouldnt get too cocky

How do you have Lookout Valley 2nd and Copper Basin 5th?

1. South Pitt- speed kills 2.Whitwell- good team plays hard 3. Copper Basin- plays hard will come around and suprise some people 4. Lookout Valley- plays hard still a little young 5. Temple- the loss of Caleb is killing them 6/7. Grace/Silverdale- dont know anything about them

Actually Basin is scrimmaging at Mcminn Central today its a 3 way scrimmage between Basin, Central, and Greenback.

I totally agree with you! Players and people of the community have asked about it but the only reply given is there is more reasons behind it than you all know. So the people are at a loss at what to do other than keep on trying to get the game back in years to come

There is no fear whatsoever in Basin of the cats. The players and fans cant help it the coach dropped it.

The bottom line in this story should be known to all, so here it is. Polk co. got a new high school, which they needed. But not a new field or stadium. Basin was suppose to get a new high school, which they needed, same school for over 40 years. Basin was suppose to get the new school which was voted on to build by the school board. The money was borrowed and set aside for the new school at basin. The school board then said there would be a new stadium at polk co. and not a baseball field. Money gets moved from the basin school project to pay for a new stadium and base ball field for polk. co. The school at basin that was suppose to be ready for the school year, will NOT be ready on time, we were told the school would be ready christmas, now is it still not going to ready then. They do not have the funds to finish it in time. But polk co. has the new stadium in time for the season. This is typical polk co. politics, what ever they want they get. The coaches and powers to be who ever it is made the choice to back out of the contract and not play polk. As a fan and a former player at basin I feel that we should have not back out of the contract, reguardless of the way polk co's fans acted at the football games or at the basketball games. They beat us twice and rubbed it in. It has went the other way before when we had beat they several years in a row, county champs shirts, signs etc. Polk co. went to TSSAA and requested they they set basin and polk to play in the jamboree, to get a final shot to rub it in. So it seems that the coaches have backed out agian and will hold our kids out of a chance to play. As a former player I had rather lose every game and beat polk co. as win all the rest and lose to polk co. Some people make excusses as say the fans situation will be futher out of hand and be worst than before. The fans and the coaches should let the player settle it on the field. People on here making post and commiting on basin is low down and sorry and scared to play polk, is not true, you are only kids loud mouth fans talking. There needs to be one point made clear----- The players at basin ( I am a parent of 1) do not want to not play polk. The Former players such as myself and son who has graduated do not want to drop polk. WE DO NOT HAVE THE CHOICE, IT IS NOT UP TO US. Cougar Dad

The leadership from Basins seniors was pretty strong last year from Kaylor, Boring, and Orton so its definatly not the players but i assure you Basin is not afaid and in the near future the heated rivalry will continue

This is a truly sad thing for the fans and players of copper basin. I promise that the players are not afraid to play and the fans want to play but nothing can be done about it if the coaches won't do it. But please dont diss on Basin the rivalry will come back and everything will change. I dont know what the problem is right now but its sickening and rediculous, Basin is not scared espeacailly the players, they played polk hard last year even though they got there hine ends handed to them just dont be dissing i have a feeling in a few short years there will be some major changes at Basin.

Copper Basin is returning almost the whole line which will help them out tremendously and they have a good coach as well which will help. But they will be hurt badly by the loss of #30 the tailback who rushed for 1,400 yards. They return a few skilled positions but no big names so the skilled positions will be there weakness

1. South Pittsburg 2-3. a toss up between Temple and Whitwell 4. Copper Basin Lookout Valley will be better but i dont think they will beat out Basin, Temple, or Whiwell for the 3 or 4 spot

Look for Whitweel and S.Pit to be close for 1 &2. L.V. who knows you can never tell. Unfourtunity, Basin lose the entire back field and 2 linemen. They have most of the young linemen back that will be juniors this year. It will be a couple of years before basin has any backs to mention. Temple is a wild card you never know. Cougardad

They are big experienced. Should have a good team and have a good shot at winning their region

The backfield from polk is big and talented. They have a good tandem in the backfield and both of them are over 200 lbs. but as far as the 40 yd. dash a 4.8 would be pushing it for either of them. They are both big and powerful but niether are very fast

1st off this was a terrible act by the leaders of Copper Basin to go out and cancel the game this close to game time. But Polk going out and bashing basin is very gutless and shows no class at all. The fans of the Basin area are very unhappy that the game has been canceled and the players even more so. But Polk has no right to say Basin is scare! The fans and players have done all they could but cannot make the decisions that the few executives that canceled the game did. But if Polk wants to start bashing then i believe Basin can do just as much. Winning 7 out of the last 10 is not very good and it was actually Polk who ended the series before the last break because Basin had became a great team and Polk County couldnt do anything with them so they stopped the game. Basin is not afraid of Polk and never will be! The series will be continued one day mark my words. Basin is not classless nor gutless and anyone who thinks that is wrong. I speak for the entire community when i say that Basin has a lot more class than Polk and that they are not afraid and would love nothing more than for the rivalry to be continued. And as far as what Tigercat said, just meet any of them on the street and say that to theire face instead of running your mouth.

Bigbody has a point about overlooking basin. A lot of people are seeming to do that. Basin hasnt been a great team the past 3 or 4 years but they have played a lot of teams close and upset many that were suppose to kill them. Im not sayin they will be a huge threat to the region but just dont overlook them

Basin is looking to be worse this year than last but dont count them out yet. Im not talking trash or trying to be an @$$ but remember what happend last time polk underestimated basin 15-6 in one of the greatest defensive efforts ive ever been associated with

Well if you count beating Basin 2 out of the past 10 years usually better than yes.

Bigbody and 14111111 do have a very good point. Temple do have some of the hardest playing kids i played against. They were very hard workers. I had over 100 yards rushing against them the past 2 years but it was hard earned yards becuase they played very tuff the whole game. A lot of people think Basin will be down this year which may be true but i believe this game will be a great battle like last years. Best of luck to both teams and i wish i could see the game but ill be playing college ball, so good luck Basin and Temple

No Copper Basin does not have a strong region anymore nor is their program what it used to. I wasnt trying to take anything away from Polk they do have a good team and should be a better team than basin this year. But i do not believe that they will go very far in the playoffs.

I have a lot of respect for the Temple program because they have came a long way in such a short time. But with Caleb gone im just not sure they have the fire power to be a top 10 contender in 1A ball. I played against them last year and they were a good team and we played poorly and under estimated them and they returned a kickoff with 30 seconds left to beat us by 1 point. That was with Caleb. Not taking away anything from Temple they are a decent program but they are a basketball school and with Caleb gone I dont know if they can make a huge playoff fun but I do wish them the best of luck.

Polk is a big and physical football team this year and should have a good team this year. But they are playing in a fairly weak region. I think they will be about 2nd in the region, but due to lack of competition will go nowhere in the playoffs.
