  1. The season's winding down, Green. Every year I think it will be tough to recover from the loss of the previous senior class, BUT you boys have brought a new game to this year and you have been so fun to watch. I won't name names or numbers but I've watched some of these seniors in some type of sport for years and I hate for this season to end. So, boys, it's up to you to bring the emotion to the last two weeks of season play and move on to the next game on Week 11. I KNOW you can, and Greenbrier KNOWS you can. Just go out and DO it. Let's go GREEN!!! It's your time.
  2. I HATE missing Greenbrier football games. I think I've only missed two in the last five years. But unforunately the Sycamore game is one I will have to miss. This one is BIG, Bobcat Fans. We've GOT to win. I hate those situations. I think the Bobcats can dig down and pull this one out. We need big plays, big hits, and big DEFENSE. Play this game Greenbrier style guys. Just go out there and do it! I'll be listening on Saturday to see how this game went. My thoughts will be in Greenbrier come Friday night.
  3. tim, while it is understood you have a phobia about staying on the frontpage, give it a rest. You have gone from a simple repeating "bump" to "any more predictions" and now to repeating your original question. The answer is Pearl Cohn
  4. I was thinking the same thing yestedray when I read this. I've seen all three of these (SHS, MC, PHS) play this year and this year they aren't even in the same realm with the likes of Lipscomb or Fulton that seem to always be at the 'Boro.
  5. If I remember correctly from our game two weeks ago, if his name is South, it's David South. I just remember hearing his name a lot. He's a good ball player. Our prayers are with him.
  6. No, this is not last year's team. It has already been said before, but I'm happy to say it again. There's something"about this Bobcats team. They all play equally hard, but the "afterburners" are almost visible when the Cats get the ball. They have worked hard together and they mesh as a team. If all cylinders are clicking and the Cats crowd gets into it, we will have the most exciting game in a while this Friday night. I don't expect to find any Bison picking against their own team anymore than I expect to find a Bobcat fan picking against us, so that means I'm going with my Cats to show how versatile this team is. It will be close, but I trust Coach Williams and staff to put together a gameplan that will give the Cats a W. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> GO CATS! This is where the rubber meets the road. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> (By the way Cat2...great fansite!)
  7. 5SportDad, yesterday as I stopped by the school, grief was collectively written on the faces of the kids at Greenbrier. It reminded me of a few years ago when it seems we lost three teens within a year or so. There isn't any part of this small school and this small community that isn't impacted by something like this. While we can't know what triggered this, we can certainly work to prevent teen suicide in all schools, in all states. Impulse causes some, but some kids are continually troubled and we have to find a way to keep them from going this far. My heart and prayers go out to Evan's family and friends.
  8. Let's take the intensity that we took to PJP along with the Greenbrier Faithful and make some noise. I hope Coach Williams has these boys fired up and focused. Portland is much like an unknown team since it's been so long since we played them but I believe in the Cats. I think Greenbrier will come home with another W. Here's hoping for a good game with no injuries on either side. Good Luck!
  9. Homecoming festivities start at 6:30. I was glad to see that the kids got to have a sorta-semi pep rally last night at the bonfire. I think that's the first one they've had in a few years and they seemed to really enjoy it. I have never been agreeable to discontinuation of pep-rallies and I hope that Greenbrier continues to make it a habit to give kids things like this to be involved in. The more things they have to look forward to just helps students overall academic performance and attitudes.
  10. Okay, Lipscomb fans...I ate at Amy's last night and gave them a headsup to be staffed for the Mustangs fans. It's good food. Maybe not Brentwood ambiance but it's friendly service and hometowncafe country cooking. Try it. You'll like it!
  11. Back to talking about the game..... I sure hope Friday night will be cooler than last Friday night. To play in the heat of last week caused many of the players to cramp so I hope all players will be back in kilter Friday night. Having such good showings in scrimmages and winning the first game has put some wind in Greenbrier's sails. I hope the new stands and the excitement surrounding getting back to the football frenzy in our little town will get them even more pumped to hit hard, and play well. We wish the Mustangs a good trip up the hill, but GO BOBCATS!
  12. A friend let me copy pictures of yesterday from a SD card. Thought I'd add them for anyone who is interested. http://www.slide.com/r/ddoXOoXA6j-S5z5aObK...p;view=original
  13. I received a email for prayer request this morning, and it states that Butch Savage, the "voice" of the Greenbrier Bobcats football team (PA announcer) has been hospitalized with heart concerns. Many of our visitors may only hear his voice on the PA at the games, but Butch is a dedicated Christian man, devoted to his family, the Greenbrier community and sports program and to Robertson County where he has served in county official capacities in the past. He is a deacon at Greenbrier First Baptist and a good Christian role model. His voice at a football game in Greenbrier is a tradition in its own, and prayers for him would certainly be appreciated. Thanks, A Greenbrier Bobcat fan
  14. Prayers go out to family, friends and community of Madison from the Greenbrier community and Robertson County.
  15. Sorry Titans. Got to go with SC. Have ext-family on that team.
  16. I listened via internet last week but I'm going to this game tonight. Hope the weather stays nice, and it's a good game! A few others from Greenbrier I know will either be going to this game or Jo Byrns game. We'll be rooting for the Bison!
  17. A question for SC: Are the seats on the SC side reserved or designated? I have yet to talk to my cousin (mom of SC#22) but I'd like to come to this game and I didn't know if any seats would be available, or if I'd have to sit elsewhere? Go Bison!
  18. Injuries can be a killer of games, especially when there are several. If Barrett and West are out, and there are suspensions, added to the fact that PC is at home, their vow to keep other teams from scoring (which they did last night), speed, and revenge, WH has a big challenge with this one. PC by 10.
  19. Kind of like everyone in 4-3A assumed ahead of time that Dekalb would lose, I think Meigs better not look past Sycamore, but it won't hurt to open your schedule for next Friday too.
  20. Go Station Camp! #22 go get another pick! We'll be rooting for you!
  21. Advocate, we rub elbows everyday with White House enough to know that it's all not all or even most. Kids that are only a little corner of a "big picture" and they can't realize their actions smear and reflects only on the whole picture, when most of of the "bigger picture" is painted perfectly fine. I think it speaks volumes of White House that the "smack" was next to nothing the week before, and has been that way since. The thing that caught my eye above all is seeing those boys help each other up, and at the end of the CSS video where Justin Grogan was limping off the field all alone and it appeared that a White House fan walked over and patted him on the back. CSS announcers had the birds eye view on these two teams and I hate when any kid (from either school) can't appreciate the class of most of the players or fans from either side.
