  1. Although Parent Coaches is generally considered a mistake for most teams - it is not always the case. Package Products Express from Franklin won 3 state championships with 2 parent coaches. The team got along wonderfully, parents, players, coaches. I have also experienced non parent coaches at the select level that have had teams break up. It all depends on the individual - whether they are a parent or not. If I'm correct about the parent coach in this case - it doesn't suprise me at all that there are problems. He has demonstrated a similar weakness in coaching when he has a child on the team at the high school level. Too bad for the girls - they were a strong team to represent middle tenn and the state in spite of the coach.
  2. Funny how this post started talking about the best teams ever, and one coward puts a slam on the sport, and we all band together and slam the dude. Bottom line - when is the last time you saw a beer belly on a College or Professional Soccer Player? Other than wrestling (not Pro) and Basketball, I'm not sure too many sports can make the same claim. Still looking for RebelRaider to reply!
  3. For Franklin to be considered a top 5, has got to be based on tradition. The Rebels graduated 13 players from last years squad. That group won more games in a 4 year stretch than ever before. The squad will return the following, 4 seniors, 8 juniors, and 10 sophomores from last years varsity and JV. Of those getting Varsity action last year -the line - up will most likely look like 2 seniors, 6 juniors, and 3 soph's. The group will be talented, but will have big shoes to fill. They learned a lot about winning last year but can they take that experiance and repeat it this year remains to be seen. The biggest question mark will be at Goal Keeper.
  4. First of all you are regarding defatta as a kicker when what you are talking about is his punts. a kicker and a punter are two totally different things from a special teams aspect in football. you would be correct when stating that defatta is a great punter and helped the team out with pinning the other teams deep in their own teritory but as one of the few that kept stats for kickers this year for franklin, campbell was the kicker and defatta was the punter who did extra points. all region kicker should be campbell, and all region punter should be defatta as both kickers should have bright futures ahead of them if they keep things the way they are going for them. as for all of this brentwood/franklin non-sense take it to another thread. they are both respectable football teams and both had great football seasons, its jut too bad that they had to meet in the quarter-finals as everyone can see this would have made for an excellent championship game. it wast too bad to see one of the two teams go out so early, as i would say the same if franklin had defeated brentwood
  5. Earlier somewone wrote in Kyle Willis' name as kicker for Region 6-5A. No Way - he doesn't do Kick Offs because he doesn't have the leg. He missed far to many EP's and field goals to be all region. That and the fact that there are at least 2 better kickers in the region, the kid from Franklin - Campbell, and Clarksvilles Poepke.
  6. Greenwave6 - does the 6 stand for your age, IQ, or total number of words in your vocabulary? Relative to the game during the summer prior to week 0, did it ever occur to you that Franklin only ran from 3 formations, and only 5 variations of plays? Why would we care about a scrimmage prior to week 0, when all that matters is who's left standing in week 15. Fortunately the players on the field showed better class than your posts.
  7. I heard that the lights going out after the 3rd Franklin touchdown making the score 21-0, was not the first time this has happened at Gallatin. Heard in '96 Gallatin was down 14-0 to beech and the lights went out. What was interesting last night was the pressbox had light and power, the concession stand had power and lights, the entire area had power, the only lights going out were the field lights when Franklin and it's fans had the joint rocking. Seems pretty bush league to me. Too coincidental that the lights went out at this juncture whith Franklin ready to kick off. The only good sporting thing Gallatin did was turn the lights off when no play was in progress. I heard nit was a tough place to play at - but that's ridiculous. Way to play through the attempt to remove the momemtum. Great job by the defense of FHS to hold off the Green Wave, while the offense struggled with field conditions and field possition after the "Night the lights went out in Gallatin".
  8. More Stats to Consider: Opponents Record: FHS 67 - 59, GHS 50 - 66 Playoff Teams Played: FHS 6 wins of 7 teams played, GHS 6 wins of 6 teams played. Playoff Teams Played in Rd 2: FHS 4 of 7, GHS 0 of 6. Common Opponents: McGavock - FHS 42 - 21, GHS 21 - 0; Hendersonville - FHS 33 - 7, GHS 17 - 0; Centennial - FHS 28 -7, GHS 24 - 14.
  9. FHS Special teams is just another facet of there game which excells. FHS does not take special teams lightly - spending plenty of time in practice to make it a strength. Punting wise, FHS covers well and Deffatta (Soph) hangs them up to help in the coverage. Kick off coverage is good, and about 45% of Campbell's deep kicks find the end zone. Relative to FG's, we haven't needed to kick many... but when we do Campbell (Soph) is accurate and long. Longest made is 44, missed from 48, hasn't missed inside 40 yards. Looking forward to a great game
  10. If FHS plays to there potential they should win. That said however, Hendersonville is a better team than there record indicates. This should turn out to be one of the best games in round 1. Not one for the faint of heart.
  11. Both Defatta and Campbell are Soph's. Defatta does the Punting duties and PAT's. Campbell does Kick Off duties and FG's (although with Franklins potent offense only 6 attempts). Defatta averages around 40 on punts and has onlt missed 2 PATs. Campbell is hitting 45% of his kicks into the endzone when Franklin doesn't pooch kick. Campbell is 4 of 6 on FG witth along of 44. Defatta also Kicks Off but usually they have him pooch. Campbell came in friday night to kick the extra point of 35 yards after the rediculous call of 15 yards against franklin following the touchdowm. Both these guys have a bright future.
